Wiki Explores South 24 Parganas - Phase I is a three day event to document some areas of district of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India. The objective of this event is to do photo-documentation of the various heritage structures in the said area most of which have less or no presence in Wikimedia commons.

Goal

  1. Photograph heritage sites along with important places near them in and around Sarisha, Falta, Shirakole, Amtala, Budge Budge, Kulpi, Lakshmikantapur, Kakdwip, Joynagar Majilpur, Bohoru and Alipur in South 24 Parganas district.
  1. Upload media for the heritage structures of South 24 Parganas district in Commons
  2. Create / Update articles about the heritage structures in Bengali and English Wikipedia
  3. Create / Update items in Wikidata

Itinerary

  • 05-09-2023(Tuesday) - Depart from Kolkata by local train to Diamond Harbour. Night stay at Sagarika Tourist Lodge
  • 06-09-2023(Wednesday) - Depart from Diamond Harbour by a hired car and photo document heritage structures of Sarisha, Falta, Shirakole, Amtala, Budge Budge. Night at Diamond Harbour
  • 07-09-2023(Thursday) - Depart from Diamond Harbour by a hired car and photo document heritage structures of Joynagar Majilpur, Bohoru and Alipur. Night at Diamond Harbour
  • 08-09-2023(Friday) - Depart from Diamond Harbour by a hired car and photo document heritage structures of Kulpi, Lakshmikantapur and Kakdwip. Return to Kolkata by local train.
