Wikimedia European Affiliates Cooperation/European Regional Event November 2021

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Discussing the implementation of the 2030 recommendations

We are planning a fourth Wikimedia European Affiliates Cooperation event which will take place virtually on 18 November 2021 from 16:00 CET until 19:00 CET. This is a follow-up event of the first three Wikimedia European Affiliates Cooperation Events.

Organizers: Alice Wiegand (WMDE), Jan-Bart de Vreede (WMNL) and Philip Kopetzky (WMAT)

Introduction[edit]

Our main topic will be Hubs. We have invited several Wikimedians from across the globe who will talk about their reasons for starting a hub, the challenges they have met so far and the lessons they have learned. Following a discussion on the current ongoing Hubs initiatives, we will explore what those findings mean for our European context and collaboration: How is it that regional Hubs seem to be more attractive to emerging communities than to Western Europe? Why is there currently no initiative to build a regional European Hub? Do we want to start working on it?

After the break we will have two breakout sessions. One will deal with our experiences in submitting our grant proposals to the new Regional Committee (we will share a summary of the feedback with the grant committee) and how we look at diversifying our income streams as European Affiliates. The second breakout room is still open for a topic so if you have a good topic please feel free to add it to our talk page.
