Got your notice to translate Wikimedia LGBT[edit]

And I've done the translation. That's a nice mission statement. Hope everything goes well in LGBT community on Wikimedia. Cheers!

Re: Wikimedia genealogy project[edit]

I left some notes on the talk page. We already have a clear community-wide support for a genealogy project; so I don't see the point of another signup sheet. What we need is a way to move forward, after close to a decade of no progress, and we may need input from the WMF board. -- Ypnypn (talk) 22:34, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've asked a more specific question on the talk page. -- Ypnypn (talk) 22:43, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for alerting me to that project. Robin Patterson (talk) 12:36, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Translation requested to me[edit]

Another Believer, thank you for your trust. I'll try to write the similar page in the Italian wikipedia, and for the right formatting features, I'll ask to any Italian friend, because usually I'm not an Italian editor, but rather an Emiliano-romagnòlo one. Don't worry however that I can do it, in a few days. On the other hand, in order to equalize the favour (forgive me if perhaps I'm not using the right english words, but I'm Italian and not translator by profession), would you please controle for the right English writing of the following pages, and eventually correct them?

I'm asking that to you because I'm sure that this is not a great work for you, English editor, rather than me that I'm not. And however I need the English corrected pages because I would translate them in other languages, but better if they are ok before. Thank you in advance, --Gloria sah (talk) 20:00, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To control the work in progress, appointment at my Italian sandbox: at this moment, however, here in Italy it's too late to start writing, tomorrow it will be better. Best regards, --Gloria sah (talk) 21:19, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I will take a look! --Another Believer (talk) 22:43, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Luckily for me, this evening I find the page you requested to me, already translated in French, my favourite foreign language. Soon, --Gloria sah (talk) 19:32, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I did not see that until just now. Thanks for the heads up! --Another Believer (talk) 20:00, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done, dear friend, but now I need the approval of an admin over there, because, I confess just now, it was my first page in it.wikipedia. No problem, I'll ask him immediately. Good night (here in Italy), --Gloria sah (talk) 22:14, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Gloria sah: Thank you so much, Gloria! I am so thankful for helpful Wikimedians like you! --Another Believer (talk) 22:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Over there in it.wkp, there is something that does'nt work well, because you'll see that that page is in a colour green and in a class "service page". This evening I'll control for that. --Gloria sah (talk) 16:31, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[edit]

You're welcome! Translation is fun ;) Tell me if it's not the right place to answer because I have absolutely no idea how to use user talk pages Alexcorriendo (talk) 20:17, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Translate request[edit]

Sure, I can translate it, but.... where?! :). Superzerocool (talk) 20:53, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on talk page. --Another Believer (talk) 21:01, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ehm... in es.wikipedia is complicated to work in Wikipedia namespace, especially to sysops (I'm one of them), because the community is very conservative to create a page without community support (like LGBT project should have it). It isn't a gender or project discrimination, it's a misunderstand of "project contents" in Wikipedia NS. Sorry, but I can't help you this time :( Superzerocool (talk) 21:09, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I understand. Thank you for the clarification. --Another Believer (talk) 21:12, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Superzerocool How many people does it take to show support? Two? Three? More? Blue Rasberry (talk) 22:12, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ehm... few editors (3 or more). You should ask to Wikimedia Chapters (see Iberocoop) if anyone can asist you in the translate or create a specific LGBT group in its core. Superzerocool (talk) 13:48, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar and a request for feedback[edit]

Individual Engagement Grant Barnstar
Thank you for commenting on Individual Engagement Grant proposals during this recent round! We really appreciate that you took the time to share your thoughts.

To help us improve the IEG program for future participants, would you mind taking this quick 3-question survey?

Thanks again for your help,

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.

If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.

I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:00, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
