This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure. Minimum voting requirement are listed here.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Quick navigation: Administrator | Interface administrator | Bureaucrat | CheckUser | Oversight | Removal of access | Miscellaneous | Global permissions

Cross-wiki requests
Meta-Wiki requests

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Requests

COPY THE FOLLOWING CODE to the bottom of the appropriate section below:

user name@xxproject
Administrator access

See administrator for information about the position. Requests for removal of access belong in another section. Admins doing cross-wiki work may wish to see IRC/wikimedia-admin for information about joining #wikimedia-admin.

If you are requesting administrator status to translate the wiki interface, this should be done at the translatewiki.net instead (see mw:localisation). You can ask questions in the IRC channel or on the mailing list.

If you are requesting adminship to handle one-time vandalism incidents or clearing a deletion backlog, please see Vandalism reports and Steward requests/Speedy deletions.

Stewards
Currently-active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary; copy granted requests to the appropriate section there, stating the date of removal in the section header and at the bottom of the request. Please invite new sysops to the admin IRC channel.
Archiving
Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage. Users who archive requests on that page, please check if the request was correctly added to the temporary subpage before removing it from this page.

For permanent sysopship please provide a link to the local community approval. For temporary sysopship please state for how long and for which tasks you need it, and link to a local announcement.

Ganesh Paudel @ ne.wikipedia.org

Hi I have been working with Nepali Wikipedia since 2006. I have edited more than 4000 pages

and created more than 3000 pages in Nepali Wikipedia pages. I have already edited some pages in English and Sanskrit wiki pages too.

I have applied for sysop last year. I was granted a temporary sysop flag for six months. Now it

is expired. So I request for permanent sysop now. Thank you. --गणेश पौडेल 07:10, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mayur @ sa.wikipedia.org

Hi i am a bureacrat on hindi wikipedia and also working with sanskrit wikipedia. But it is very difiicult to contribute there without transliteration tool and some other gadgets.I have already done it for hi wikipedia, but donot have sysop access on sa wikipedia.I requested there about one month ago but here are no active users, admins(not active for last 135 days) and bureaucrat(not active for last 70 days). So i am requesting here.Thank you--Mayur(TalkEmail)  04:29, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment Mayur, as I heard, Shiju and Junaid are working on the translit tools for sa wiki. I would rather wait for that than duplicating the work. --Jyothis 21:24, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment Ok, i am taking back my proposal, i was appllied for it one month back when this wiki got vector format. and how do you think i will make duplicate work, i have made transliteration tool for sanskrit seperately one month ago.there is very less difference between hindi devnagri and sanskrit devnagri script. But i also think that junaid work will be up to the mark so i have no interest left for adminship of sa wiki. However i didnot applied for installation of tool only, i wanted to work with that wiki and improve it quality but as far as i observe now its malyalam wikipedian who have taken the whole responsibility for indian languagges growth, So it will be better for me to work with my home project or if they want to reinstall transliteration tool in hi wiki i can left my crat and admin flag there.Thank you very much for your humble response--Mayur(TalkEmail)

If I can be a pest, Mayur, I'd like to note that Jyothis has started an RFC at Requests for comment/Indic Sysop which may be of interest to you. Kylu 01:10, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iniquity@ruwikibooks

Hello, again. I have requests for temporary adminship in Russian Wikibooks. Our community is very small because of that we have problems with amount of votes. I hope it is not big problem. Best regards. - Iniquity 14:10, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake, I requested for "permanent" adminship. Sorry. Best. - Iniquity 13:09, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
On hold not enough votes yet , so it's still on hold for more possible votes Mardetanha talk 21:21, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have received two more voices. - Iniquity 18:50, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done - 6 votes looks enough for me for granting permanent adminship. Please do remember not to translate the interface locally (see betawiki:) and to upload images to commons:. Regards, --dferg ☎ talk 10:39, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Akishin D.@ruwikinews

Sorry, I don't understand how many votes I should have. Thank you.Дмитрий talk+ 13:30, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I imagine it's safe to state that one isn't enough. Usually we want to see a minimum of 15, but that number is rather variable and nobody's much been involved in the discussion about it lately. Want to keep your vote open longer? Kylu 03:07, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In our project we can not have so much votes. I get only 9 votes. Do Meta have some time limit for voting?Дмитрий talk+ 14:37, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To avoid violating "meatpuppetry" guidelines, it'd be preferable that the teenage voters don't have enough time to meet eachother, get married, have children, and those children have grandchildren, all of which are voting on the same issue. Other than that, there's not really any huge guideline, so let's say a maximum of ten years, to be on the safe side? Kylu 13:12, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm noting that the diffs for the first six votes are on n:ru:Викиновости:Заявки на статус бюрократа by the way, as Akishin D. copied them over to the new page without linking to the source in the edit summaries. Kylu 16:55, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am copied them from n:ru:Викиновости:Заявки на статус бюрократа. Look at the history. Дмитрий talk+ 13:46, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yep! Was just noting that for readers who might look at the history of the page and say to themselves, "Um, why did Akishin add all these votes signed by other people?" -- Just trying to save you from having to answer that question yourself, potentially. :) Kylu 17:08, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I write comment about it. Дмитрий talk+ 14:46, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Murma174 @ frrwiki

There were only 7 pro's received, but considering, frr is a minority language, this is an acceptable quote IMO. --Murma174 09:57, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment There's an ongoing (if slow) discussion at Requests_for_comment/Minimum_voting_requirements#Minimum_requirements_to_elect_Bureaucrats which you may want to join regarding the subject of how many votes are required to prove that a local community is active enough to qualify for local bureaucrats. To protect your project, you may want to consider implementing an inactivity policy of some sort, along the lines of "If I'm inactive for X months, people with access may perform bureaucrat related tasks in my stead". Just a thought. Kylu 16:21, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile it are 9 pro's(10 including me;-)). And I implemeted an inactivity-policy. Thank you for this hint! --Murma174 11:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now there are 10 votes (excluding Murma174). Holder 03:48, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now 12. Holder 05:04, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So by your preference on the discussion page, you want to wait for another five, yes? Kylu 03:50, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, perhaps also 10 votes could be enough for a small wiki ;-) Holder 16:16, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
full support - in the first weeks and months I was editig and helping on frr, -jkb- 18:33, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If someone would adds a single contra vote to the election then Murma174 could fulfull every requirement mentioned at the talk page. At the moment Murma has 14 votes with 100% pro. The highest requirement there is 15 votes with 80% support (=min. 12 pros + 3 cons). Merlissimo 19:19, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or email oversight-l@lists.wikimedia.org for requests regarding English Wikipedia. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

crats and CUs@ptwiki

Please remove the CheckUser and bureaucrat access of the users above due the end of the one-year term for CheckUsers and Bureaucrats at pt.wiki (the term was expired in 11 November, 2010). Thanks in advance. --Béria Lima msg 00:00, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done all flags removed. Cheers -- @lestaty discuţie 00:03, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
At Ruy Pugliesi's request, I temporarily restored the bureaucrat and checkuser flags for Castelobranco, Ruy Pugliesi, and Teles. Their term technically only expires at 19:22 today, and he had some checkuser requests he wanted to finish off before the term ended. —Pathoschild 01:01:34, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
no problem by me. - @lestaty discuţie 01:13, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
...and at Beria's request, I have removed Castelobranco's and Ruy Pugliesi's bureaucrat flags to match the exact times they were granted. Beria assures me she will let us know the moment we can remove the checkuser flags. —Pathoschild 01:37:41, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure if here is the correct place, but when in time, please remove also the access to the checkuser mailing list. Thanks.” TeleS (T PT @ C G) 03:32, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I already sent a email to cu-l-owner... - @lestaty discuţie 09:21, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We do not look for minutes, your privileges were not removed in a incorrectly way, if Pathos is a good boy and granted it again per your request, its is ok for me, but please do not make dramas, Meta is not the place for theatrical play. --- @lestaty discuţie 15:41, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

19h22m. Please remove for good that flags, or we should count the time they are sleeping and can't use the flag too? Or maybe the time Wikipedia had problem? Or maybe if they go in vacantion? The Lunch time? Dinner? Breakfeast? Because we can stay in that for 2 years. Béria Lima msg 19:22, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus?? 13 x 6 is consensus here? Be a man Ruy, accept as a man that you are not a CU anymore. Béria Lima msg 19:35, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

there has been a vote about this barely 3 weeks ago [1]. Hence, I see no reason to wait for the end of this one. Done. DarkoNeko 20:04, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Junaidpv @ sa.wikipedia.org

Hi, I am a sysop at ml.wikipedia and ml.wikibooks, developed and implemented a language independent transliteration tool. Integrated it to ml.wikipedia and ml.wikibooks, helped hi.wikipedia to enable it. Now I would like to help sa.wikipedia too for the same purpose. So I am requesting here for edit interface right at sa.wikipedia.org. Thank you. Junaidpv 15:27, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is no local right by that name, though you could ask for adminship there to edit MediaWiki pages. I wonder if you may also be interested in this proposal: Requests_for_comment/Indic_Sysop. Kylu 15:36, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If there is no local right by this name and getting a sysop right is the only way to edit Mediwiki pages. Then I change my request to get Sysop right. If a new separate request have to be submitted above for this purpose, let me know or you can move this. Junaidpv 17:28, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You'll need a new vote, also. Consider that some people may be happy to give him the ability to add such tools, but hesitant to provide other abilities as well. Once you have results for admin tools, please create a new section above for that. Thanks. Kylu 18:10, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment :Hi , I am a sanskrit wikipedian. it is very difficult to edit sanskrit wikipedia without the help of an inbuilt typing tool. and it will be very helpful if Mr. Junaid can provide a good typing tool for us. this is very important and will help a lot in the development of sanskrit wikipedia community.so I request here to grant the edit interface right to Mr.Junaid as soon as possible. If there is no local right by that name then I request here to grant him sysop access to the sa.wikipedia for the above mentioned purpose. PS: His request is accepted by local community [ Link ] Thank you, --Hrishikesh.kb 16:29, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciated, but please have them vote explicitly for granting him adminship (temporary or otherwise) first in a new section and mark the old one as "not doable" since there's no such right. Kylu 17:16, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I have submitted a new request above for temporary admin right. Junaidpv 06:29, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Closed as Can't do, no such right. Kylu 17:09, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
