This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global sysops policy.
Stewards

Instructions for making a request

  1. You have a global account ;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;

}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Global rename for TheAafi

Not ending before 12 February 2022 10:30 UTC

Hi, I'm TheAafi, and I majorly work on the English Wikipedia. I'm an eliminator on the Urdu Wikipedia where I occasionally carry out some admin tasks. On the English Wikipedia, I often find myself involved with the RMT (Technical moves), and thus I've relevant knowledge of the related moving policies. I've file moving permissions on the Commons as well. I look forward helping with the global rename requests as well. Regards. ─ The Aafī (talk) 10:30, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Machatjkala

Hi, I'm a long time contributor using a proxy for Internet. For som reason the proxy has been blocked for registered users but I would like to continue edit. thanks, --Machatjkala (talk) 13:24, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Machatjkala, can you share some details about why do you need to use a proxy (and which kind of a proxy that is)? Please note you can always bypass that block by turning the proxy off. Best, Martin Urbanec (talk) 14:33, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I use OVPN as proxy do avoid being tracked by sites on the Internet. I can't see why this should be prohibited by Wikipedia. Even if it'a a proxy, registered accounts could be allowed (and blocked individually in case of abuse). Turning the proxy off for Wikipedia isn't an option. I usually collect sources on Internet when writing my articles so there is no situation when I only browse Wikipedia./Machatjkala (talk) 10:46, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Machatjkala Not done Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, there is the No open proxies policy. Open proxies are often abused by vandals and other malicious actors, and for that reason, they can't be unblocked. Wikimedia projects have a strong privacy policy and access to IP addresses of logged in users is strictly limited.
I recommend to exempt Wikimedia sites from your OVPN setup. Alternatively, you can request a local exemption at sv.wikipedia (see sv:Wikipedia:Undantagna från IP-blockering for details). Best, Martin Urbanec (talk) 09:42, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for মোঃ মারুফ হাসান24

Hello! Suddenly, I am blocked to edit , but I don't know why. The block alert says that it's for open proxy. I didn't have this type of problem before. And always I use my home network to contribute in Wikipedia. So, please do something!মোঃ মারুফ হাসান24 (talk) 16:48, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @মোঃ মারুফ হাসান24, can you share the details of the block with us please? If you want, you can email stewards@wikimedia.org (but in that case, please note the ticket number here, which will come in an automated reply, so we can assist you more quickly). Thanks, Martin Urbanec (talk) 09:38, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
When I'm trying to contribute in Wikipedia, then a block alert shows and saying of that block is that I am not permitted to edit or change anything because of my open proxy. It might be for changing my ISP recently. Now I'm using broadband Wi-Fi. That's why my IP address is changed also. Now my IP address is : 103.16.24.112 . It's my Home IP address. So, why I'm globally blocked, I don't know. Therefore, please resolve that issue for me! মোঃ মারুফ হাসান24 (talk) 13:02, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
