This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). Global IP block exempt for Aishik Rehman

Hi, I am a member of SWMT. State authorities in Bangladesh have blocked some important websites like archive.org. Also, several websites used or potentially usable as references have also been blocked. So often I have to use VPN. But repeatedly turning on and off VPNs is a boring thing to do. So I'm requesting for GIPBE. I already have local IPBE in bnwiki and bnwikibooks. Thanks. ---- Aishik Rehman (talk) 22:47, 27 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

CAPTCHA exempt for Unite together

Nowadays I'm repairing errors appearing in citation templates on various wikis where I haven’t edited before. Almost all of those templates contain external links. When repairing these errors on ptwiki, I kept encountering CAPTCHAs for no edits before (not autoconfirmed). Therefore here I'm requesting CAPTCHA exempt for my global account. Thanks in advance. -- U.T. 02:22, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Unite together ptwiki requires a minimum number of edits to become confirmed there, you can request that they bypass this for you at w:pt:Ajuda:Tire suas dúvidas. — xaosflux Talk 17:12, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux However I'd like to repair citations on other wikis as well later. I don’t want to request on each sites one-by-one. -- U.T. 17:21, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Try Krinkle's tool: Global SUL (it did fail for me when I tried the other day, so can't tell if it is working right now though. It will take care of the account creations, which for 99% of projects will lead to autoconfirm. — xaosflux Talk 18:35, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have tried it today, this script didn't work at all. Lemonaka (talk) 01:51, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But what if a site also requires minimum edit count? Then creating a local account and waiting for several days cannot make it autoconfirmed. Let alone the script no longer works. -- U.T. 01:57, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't think this a good idea. Unless they are very specific about what they want to do with it, I am not going to support bypassing local restrictions. Citation templates are widely used, and understanding of the language is essential in many cases before trying to fix them. If the fix is large scale, the community needs to be notified (normally bots are preferred for those fixes).--BRP ever 09:40, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Well, @BRPever, I'm going to fix those errors about invalid DOIs, ISBNs and malformed archive links. For example, some of templates has erroneous DOIs which cannot point to original journals. While I don’t read some languages, it’s still possible to find the original document itself and update its DOI inside templates (as one citation often contains ID in multiple systems, say, when DOI is invalid, its correct ISBN/OCLC is very likely to be available). These tasks don’t really involve languages itself. -- U.T. 11:01, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
