This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Global IP block exempt for Meiko21

Hello, I have recently had to use VPN and Proxy to contribute because the internet connection where I live is inherently poor and often intermittent. Because of using VPN, many times when I access projects I cannot edit them (Except for Vietnamese Wikipedia). I wish I was granted this permission so that I can contribute to many global projects of the organization. Thank you! --Meiko 10:04, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

We would need more details and it would likely involve us needing to speak about details you would not want public. Either a UTRS request or an email would be appropriate. -- Amanda (she/her) 15:54, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Ansony89

I am an extended confirmed user of Chinese Wikipedia and English Wikipedia, and a rollbacker of Chinese Wikipedia. In addition, I edited content on French and Japanese Wikipedias a lot recently, so a single local IPBE cannot meet my editing needs. Since I live in mainland China, I have to use a VPN entirely to edit (or even access) Wikipedia article and any other Wikimedia related pages. And when I'm using a VPN, I'm often blocked from editing due to my IP address. And the IP addresses I use are usually blocked globally, not just locally. So I am requesting global IPBE permission, thank you! --Ansony89 (talk) 16:07, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

After reviewing their global contribution, I think it is appropriate to grant GIPBE. Thanks. --SCP-2000 13:22, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ansony89 are you aware that GIPBE does nothing against local IP blocks? Are you facing only global blocks? zhwiki generally blocks locally just like enwiki. — xaosflux Talk 16:10, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know, thank you for reminding me. Although this is true, if I obtain GIPBE, it will be easier for me to edit Wikipedia in different language versions. Even if this is not necessarily useful, it will allow me to better contribute to Wikimedia. If I frequently edit certain language versions of Wikipedia, I would apply for an additional local exemption. I obtained enwiki's IPBE not long ago. Since my IP address is not permanently fixed, I occasionally encounter global blocks. But because sometimes the IP address I have used for a long time is suddenly blocked globally, I have to find another more secure VPN. Anyway, thank you for your reminder and help! Global IP block exempt for Jasskurn

I'm located in the UK. I use a VPN and therefore can not edit. I'm asking for an exemption for the following reasons. The reason I use a VPN is due to British Legislation - [Powers Act 2016] which is now coming into effect. As the Wiki page shows, the legislation forces British ISP's to record and store for 1 year, all internet traffic metadata. The data is in practice easily accessible by a vast range of British organisations from National Crime Agency to the Welsh Ambulance service. An effective loophole means the data recording rules don't apply to VPNs. I have personal reasons for not having my wiki editing to to be recorded. I also do not trust my ISP to securely store this data. I'm am happy to explain the personal reasons if they are not recorded here.

All previous data I have added is linked to contributions to OpenStreetMap, and OpenStreetMaps use of wikidata and commons for extra info links. My account on OpenStreetMap is JassKurn , thanks, --Jasskurn (talk) 16:16, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Lemonaka

Per some sudden clauses, detailed explanations are in UTRS, thanks, --Lemonaka (talk) 11:34, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ticket #? — xaosflux Talk 15:20, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Auch, I forgot the number of the tickets. What should I do? Lemonaka (talk) 14:44, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
on hold per UTRS#82538 (being checked on already) — xaosflux Talk 01:13, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux What, are there something so strange on my account, suspected compromised or something? Lemonaka (talk) 08:57, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so, just there is a huge backlog of work right now, and we split it up - you are in line. — xaosflux Talk 09:50, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Mdaniels5757

I am abroad using an unprotected network for the next few days, and would like to be exempted from gblocks so I may use a VPN for security when globally replacing files moved on Commons (I will request enwiki IPBE for editing there separately). Thanks, --—‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 01:09, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Global CAPTCHA exemption for TechnoSquirrel69

Hey there! I've recently been getting involved with some cross-wiki counter-vandalism, and I am continually being stopped in my tracks by CAPTCHAs. Maybe I'll apply to be a global rollbacker at some point, but I'd like to request this flag until then. Feel free to ping me with any questions! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 06:51, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Question Question: @TechnoSquirrel69: did you tried Global SUL? --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 13:09, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    (Add:) "recently" seems to be very recently... Only active since this month in crosswiki work. Waiting for an answer before deciding. TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 13:13, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Thanks, TenWhile6; I've just run the Global SUL script, which should help! However, I believe there are still some wikis that require CAPTCHAs until becoming autoconfirmed? You brought up how recently I've started my cross-wiki work, but that's exactly the reason I'm requesting the flag, as I would probably be autoconfirmed on all the wikis where it mattered if I put in a few more months. I'm hoping to make those few months slightly easier by not having to leave SWViewer multiple times a session to manually undo edits and fill out CAPTCHAs. If you're concerned about my lack of experience with counter-vandalism, I will say that I have quite a bit of experience using local semi-automated tools as a pending changes reviewer and rollbacker on the English Wikipedia (enwiki rollbacks, enwiki undos).
