Request for CN on frwikipedia

Hello,

After a first request (last month ; cc @Glaisher, 0x010C, and Vatadoshu:), is it possible to create a centralnotice:

  • from Tuesday the 5th to Monday the 11th of January
  • for unregistered users only
  • on fr.wikipedia.org, regardless of the country
  • we made a first template here

There is already a draft campaign, with wrong date. For the banner drafted (example), there is two little things to change:

  • center the text vertically
  • improve the .cn-closeButton (with background-color:#6599c9; to avoid blank background)

Thanks a lot (the banner is very very important for the success of our project, which includes more than 15 Wikipedians) and happy new year . Jules78120 (talk) 12:13, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

@Popo le Chien, Matiia, and PiRSquared17: I notify you, if you can do it, because the banner is for tomorrow. Best regards, Jules78120 (talk) 15:31, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks a lot @Matiia: there is a last thing to modify, the link. The good one: https://www.france-universite-numerique-mooc.fr/courses/WMFr/86001/session01/about (or @Base:). Jules78120 (talk) 22:40, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Done

@Matiia: Thanks to JSutherland (WMF), the campaig is now enabled, and with the good link. 0x010C found how to correct the vertical align: line 25, replace <div style="width: 80%; padding:4px 0 0 0; float: right;"> by <div style="width: 80%; padding:10px 0 0 0; float: right;"> (4px → 10px). Can you please change this when you have the time to do so. After that, we will stop to bother you with our banner ;-). Regards, Jules78120 (talk) 00:20, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

I've added the third party site disclaimer discussed earlier, though with another text, a one provided by Matiia in IRC, that also fixed the problem with the vertical align. --Base (talk) 01:49, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
@Base and Matiia: Hello and thanks. The banner like this is a little bit legalistic... The disclaimer is it really necessary? If yes, is it possible to reduce the font-size of the disclaimer, which currently occupies one third of the banner?
And can you write this please, instead of the current sentence:
"Le site france-universite-numerique-mooc.fr est hébergé selon sa politique de confidentialité et ses conditions d'utilisation."
("privacité" is never used in french, the good word is "confidentialité" + "termes du services" is "conditions générales d'utilisation" (CGU) in french + no capital letter to "politique")
Best regards, Jules78120 (talk) 09:48, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
@Jules78120: Is it okay now? Matiia (talk) 15:21, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Yes, perfect, thank you Matiia. Jules78120 (talk) 15:37, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Hide IP

User revealed IPwhile editing logged-out, see later edits. --Ochilov (talk) 05:01, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

(not an admin)It was his own choice to reveal in the edit summary... right? Can't he decide if he wants the edit hidden? Surely it's impractical to universalize this type of request. Killiondude (talk) 05:45, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Done by NahidSultan. By the way, this type of requests should be sent meta-oversight@lists.wikimedia.org. Matiia (talk) 15:32, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Matiia, thanks, I will know :) --Ochilov (talk) 18:35, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Indeed, I agree with Killiondude. --MF-W 19:47, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
I'm with Killion and MF-W. There is no need to proactively hide IPs unless requested by a user. In fact, you are bringing the logged out edit far more attention now by bringing it up here. Regards. Theo10011 (talk) 22:21, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

How can i hide my Recent activity like a bot ?

I created a bot using "visual basic" for BN wiki. my Problem is when i start my bot - it's create Notification on "Recent changes" page . i wanted to hide my Notification from "Recent changes" page . Please help me ~ Rahul amin roktim (talk) 10:22, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

You will have to ask for the bot userright from a bureaucrat. I believe the relevant page is this one. Regards, --Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 10:40, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Fix a Wikimania banner

I am trying to fix a published banner on pt-br currently being displayed for Wikimania (probably this one). When I click on the link for translating it I am sent to this page, which doesn't seem to be the proper page.

I made this change on the banner a few days ago, but nothing has changed yet. It has a misspelling on first phrase. Can somebody fix it, please?—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 21:42, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

What exactly makes you think this page is wrong? At least wm2016scholarcfp2 seems to be the banner transcluded in the campaign. --Vogone (talk) 21:52, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
@Vogone: The current campaign shows texts coming from wm2016scholarcfp. However, the link on same banner to help with translations points to wm2016scholarcfp2. So, a click on the link to fix the current banner (wm2016scholarcfp), but I am sent to wm2016scholarcfp2, which has a completely different text and the current banner remains unchanged, even though I have already changed that in the past.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 22:28, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
Please read the banner history:
3 January 2016 20:49	Jalexander-WMF (talk)	modified	wm2016_scholar	switch banners
Limit traffic: Changed from 20% to 100%
Banners: Changed from wm2016scholarcfp (A, 25) to wm2016scholarcfp2 (A, 25)
wm2016scholarcfp2 is the one used since January 3. --Vogone (talk) 22:36, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
@Vogone: The text currently displayed for pt-br comes from wm2016scholarcfp.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 22:39, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
Then I wonder why this is the case. Perhaps some caching issue? wm2016scholarcfp is at least marked as inactive (unlike wm2016scholarcfp2), so I would try to change its translation and see if it changes anything. Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to see the banner in the first place (preview is empty), so I have no idea how it actually looks like. --Vogone (talk) 22:49, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
@Vogone: I just created and published banners for wm2016scholarcfp2 and now it is the one I see for pt-br. I don't know what was going on there, but that seems to be working now. Thanks for answering.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 23:02, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
Actually, that is still there... but I am stop trying.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 15:48, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

RFC closure

Resolved.

Hello. Meta:Requests for comment/Enable flow in the Research talk (203) namespace needs closure I think. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio 15:34, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

It has been withdrawn by proposer. No further action needed. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio 02:35, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

MassMessage sender's right

Hello, I am requesting MassMessage sender's right. Almost regularly I need to contact editors on: Telugu, Odia, Kannada, Marathi, Konkani, Bengali Wikipedia. Manually visiting all these projects and adding messages take a lot of time. I was working as an En WP Wikipedia Asian Month co-ordinator. Now I am working on two or three projects Indic edit-a-thon, Training Indic Wikipedians. This mass-message tool will be very helpful for me. On En WP, the right is bundled with my admin rights. I'll use the tool carefully and responsibly. -- Tito Dutta (talk) 15:39, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

What kind of content will these messages contain and to whom will it be sent? --Vogone (talk) 19:37, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Done. Seems like a reasonable request. Please inform us in case you do not need the access anymore someday. Kind regards, --Vogone (talk) 20:21, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

15/events/Nashik, India

Please could somebody with sysop rights at both Meta and English Wikipedia get w:en:15/events/Nashik, India moved to meta (presumably it should be at Wikipedia 15/Events/Nashik, India), delete the original under w:en:WP:G6 (unambiguously created ... in the incorrect namespace), and also update inward links. There look like a lot, but most come through templates like w:en:Template:Meetup/January 2016. --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 12:07, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

w:en:15/events/Nashik, India was deleted by Jac16888 (talk · contribs). --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 23:05, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
It seems to have been recreated at w:en:Wikipedia:Meetup/Nashik/15January2016. --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 09:50, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Convert Stewards/Confirm/Introduction16 to use the translate extension

Hi, Stewards/Confirm/Introduction16 should be converted to use the translate extension (see request). It will make translations much easier. Also note that the page is transcluded here: Template:Se2016 statements page. --Stryn (talk) 18:03, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Doing... --Base (talk) 19:39, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Thank you, seems like it's done already, though also all the translations that existed should be added later, but anyone can do it. --Stryn (talk) 18:39, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Yes, that's why I left the ongoing status here :) I migrated about a third but got distracted on other things. I will finish this a little bit later and help with this dull affair is surely welcome and appreciated :) --Base (talk) 02:32, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
And for those who wants to help: the original texts can be found here. Just note that they are a bit outdated after the update. --Stryn (talk) 05:06, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

I hope I made all that could have been done here. --Ата (talk) 15:08, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Moving

Hi! Can somebody please move translations from uz-latn to uz on the page Wikimedians of Uzbekistan Community? Thank you very much! --Ochilov (talk) 18:01, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, it's not possible to move translation pages. You should manually copy paste those contents. --Stryn (talk) 18:10, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Oh, actually it was, thanks for the tip to User:Matiia. Should be okay now. --Stryn (talk) 18:31, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Meh, we're back in the start. I don't know anymore what to do... I tried everything. User:Kaganer do you know what to do here? I tried to follow the instructions at Meta:Proposed_page_moves/Archives/2015#Small_Wiki_Monitoring_Team.2Fzh-hans_to_Small_Wiki_Monitoring_Team.2Fzh but it's not possible to move those pages that are in the "translations" namespace (not even when the pages are not marked for translation). --Stryn (talk) 19:05, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Numbers of translation items is not mathes. In my opinion, need to search old translations, open each and copy-paste content;) And then delete "/uz-latn" with Special:PageTranslationDeletePage --Kaganer (talk) 08:52, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Malfunctioning/unauthorized bot

This "bot account" has been making controversial changes [1][2][3]. Account was created just today, no operator contact information available. Edit summaries also suggest abnormally high levels of "artificial intelligence". I suspect this is a human pretending to be a bot. Also see w:User:The Inappropriate Content Remover and w:User:TheReviewingOfficial654321. Chenzw (talk) 02:41, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Blocked. Matiia (talk) 03:02, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, Requests_for_comment/Password_policy_for_users_with_certain_advanced_permissions is supposed to end today. I was wondering if someone uninvolved would be able to close it. Bawolff (talk) 23:33, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

I might be wrong, but it looks like something for stewards rather than Meta admins to close, as it concerns all Wikimedia wikis and not just Meta. --Base (talk) 00:44, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Hmm, that is a good point. I'm not really familiar with the procedures around global RFCs. I'll go ask them. Bawolff (talk) 00:53, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
I dont see anything wrong with some Meta sysop closing it. --MF-W 16:35, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
I think I fit into both groups. Closed as consensus to implement. @Bawolff, you may proceed with implementation :) Ajraddatz (talk) 07:25, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

personal attack in rfc

Hi colleagues, I assume that the general no-personal-attacks policy is also valid on Meta, though I'm not sure. Could a sysop please review the last sentence in this posting by Pldx1, which is a personal attack IMO, and consider appropriate measures. --Túrelio (talk) 17:00, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
