This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Meta-Wiki requests

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Requests

COPY THE FOLLOWING CODE to the bottom of the appropriate section below:

user name@xxproject
Administrator access

See administrator for information about the position. Requests for removal of access belong in another section. Admins doing cross-wiki work may wish to see IRC/wikimedia-admin for information about joining #wikimedia-admin.

If you are requesting administrator status to translate the wiki interface, this should be done at the translatewiki.net instead (see mw:localisation). You can ask questions in the IRC channel or on the mailing list.

If you are requesting adminship to handle one-time vandalism incidents or clearing a deletion backlog, please see Vandalism reports and Steward requests/Speedy deletions.

Stewards
Currently-active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary; copy granted requests to the appropriate section there, stating the date of removal in the section header and at the bottom of the request. Please invite new sysops to the admin IRC channel.
Archiving
Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage. Users who archive requests on that page, please check if the request was correctly added to the temporary subpage before removing it from this page.

For permanent sysopship please provide a link to the local community approval. For temporary sysopship please state for how long and for which tasks you need it, and link to a local announcement.

Castelobranco@eowikinews

I request permanent sysop in this recently created project. I'm the proposal of the project, already sysop in other projects (pt.wikipedia and eo.wikipedia) and have the support of the community in a one-week discussion. Thanks in advance. CasteloBrancomsg 08:55, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is really great! It will be big time fun to add content to the new swedish wikiversity. Please give Kaj the sysop status or help us move the pages from beta. We are all anxious to get started! --83.253.237.213 17:19, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ganesh Paudel @ ne.wikipedia.org

Hi,

I have been working with Nepali Wikipedia since 2006. I have edited more than 4000 pages and created more than 3000 pages in Nepali Wikipedia pages. I have already edited some pages in English and Sanskrit wiki pages too.

I have applied for sysop last year. I was granted a temporary sysop flag for six months. Now it is expired. So I request for permanent sysop now. Thank you. --गणेश पौडेल 07:10, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You started the local request on 2010-11-09. I would like to wait for a few more days. To become permanent sysop, I am waiting for a few more solid votes, better 5 to 10 votes minimum.Jusjih 04:36, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done for permanent sysop as I see 6 votes. Welcome abroad.Jusjih 03:34, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the permanent Sysopship. I hope I can give more valuable contribution to the Wikipedia. --गणेश पौडेल 06:45, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mayur @ sa.wikipedia.org

Hi i am a bureacrat on hindi wikipedia and also working with sanskrit wikipedia. But it is very difiicult to contribute there without transliteration tool and some other gadgets.I have already done it for hi wikipedia, but donot have sysop access on sa wikipedia.I requested there about one month ago but here are no active users, admins(not active for last 135 days) and bureaucrat(not active for last 70 days). So i am requesting here.Thank you--Mayur(TalkEmail)  04:29, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment Mayur, as I heard, Shiju and Junaid are working on the translit tools for sa wiki. I would rather wait for that than duplicating the work. --Jyothis 21:24, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment Ok, i am taking back my proposal, i was appllied for it one month back when this wiki got vector format. and how do you think i will make duplicate work, i have made transliteration tool for sanskrit seperately one month ago.there is very less difference between hindi devnagri and sanskrit devnagri script. But i also think that junaid work will be up to the mark so i have no interest left for adminship of sa wiki. However i didnot applied for installation of tool only, i wanted to work with that wiki and improve it quality but as far as i observe now its malyalam wikipedian who have taken the whole responsibility for indian languagges growth, So it will be better for me to work with my home project or if they want to reinstall transliteration tool in hi wiki i can left my crat and admin flag there.Thank you very much for your humble response--Mayur(TalkEmail)

If I can be a pest, Mayur, I'd like to note that Jyothis has started an RFC at Requests for comment/Indic Sysop which may be of interest to you. Kylu 01:10, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, again. I have requests for temporary adminship in Russian Wikibooks. Our community is very small because of that we have problems with amount of votes. I hope it is not big problem. Best regards. - Iniquity 14:10, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Candalua@vecwikisource

I request admin access on the newly created Venetian Wikisource. Regards, Candalua 21:56, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ehm... excuse me, but I've got a lot of things to do on the new wiki, when can I have the flag? I'm already sysop on oldwikisource (where the content of the new wiki was hosted before the creation of vec) Candalua 17:48, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well the discussion has only been open for a few days, no? I would prefer to leave it open for a week. Shanel 16:17, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I don't understand... This wiki will not be fully functional until I've created the necessary css and js, fixed the links on the menu bar, created some system messages needed by the proofread extension etc. etc. etc. I know that a week isn't long, but in the meantime we can't do almost anything on this wiki... Wōdenhelm@angwiki

Wōdenhelm has been actively editing the ang:Ænglisc Ƿikipǣdia for many years now and is one of the few editors to stick with it. He has also been a temporary admin on angwiki. This is now expired and so needs to be redone. I'd ask stewards to consider a 6 or 12 month adminship since 3 months seems a tad short for such a dedicated user who used the mop often when he had it. fr33kman 11:24, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ruben@hywiki

On 16 October 2009, voting page was created to desysop Ruben, as community though that Ruben was inactive for long time. The very next day, logs were rechecked and we've noticed that Ruben actually performed sysop duties, but we looked though his contributions not logs, so we missed that. After that, that voting was cancelled, and Ruben remained sysop, and performed his duties several times later. Year later, in October 2010, user 6AND5 placed his vote, on very same page. In Village pump, when he asked to vote, I explained that he used a wrong place to vote for that. That was a reason for rest of community not to participate in voting. Nor did anyone replied in support of that idea. User 6AND5 didn't took any actions to create new voting, but month later, he posted here a request to desysop Ruben, providing link to that old voting. I believe stewards didn't notice that all but one vote, were from 2009 year, and couldn't understand that there was a notice, that voting is cancelled, as it was in Armenian. As Ruben was desysoped because of series of misunderstandings, and without actual community decision, I request his flag to be brought back. --Xelgen 23:00, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since I was the steward performing the desysop I would like to apologise for the error. Since I do not speak Armenian myself I used several translators so that I could figure out what was happening there. If the vote was cancelled indeed the rights should be restored as the wiki do not have local bureaucrats. Thanks for bringing this to our attention & sorry for any inconvenience that I may have caused. --dferg ☎ talk 23:19, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Language issue is natural and understandable. There's also my fault, not to take care of this earlier, and not being active recently, so I can guide new users. I believe user had good intentions, he just doesn't clearly understand how projects work. Thanks for fixing this in a timely manner. --Xelgen 01:01, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Xelgen tells a lie. On the same page was opened on the second ballot. 1 vote, 0 votes against, why did he only remembered about it now?[2] 6AND5 13:07, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Akishin D.@ruwikinews

Sorry, I don't understand how many votes I should have. Thank you.Дмитрий talk+ 13:30, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I imagine it's safe to state that one isn't enough. Usually we want to see a minimum of 15, but that number is rather variable and nobody's much been involved in the discussion about it lately. Want to keep your vote open longer? Kylu 03:07, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In our project we can not have so much votes. I get only 9 votes. Do Meta have some time limit for voting?Дмитрий talk+ 14:37, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To avoid violating "meatpuppetry" guidelines, it'd be preferable that the teenage voters don't have enough time to meet eachother, get married, have children, and those children have grandchildren, all of which are voting on the same issue. Other than that, there's not really any huge guideline, so let's say a maximum of ten years, to be on the safe side? Kylu 13:12, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm noting that the diffs for the first six votes are on n:ru:Викиновости:Заявки на статус бюрократа by the way, as Akishin D. copied them over to the new page without linking to the source in the edit summaries. Kylu 16:55, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am copied them from n:ru:Викиновости:Заявки на статус бюрократа. Look at the history. Дмитрий talk+ 13:46, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yep! Was just noting that for readers who might look at the history of the page and say to themselves, "Um, why did Akishin add all these votes signed by other people?" -- Just trying to save you from having to answer that question yourself, potentially. :) Kylu 17:08, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Murma174 @ frrwiki

There were only 7 pro's received, but considering, frr is a minority language, this is an acceptable quote IMO. --Murma174 09:57, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment There's an ongoing (if slow) discussion at Requests_for_comment/Minimum_voting_requirements#Minimum_requirements_to_elect_Bureaucrats which you may want to join regarding the subject of how many votes are required to prove that a local community is active enough to qualify for local bureaucrats. To protect your project, you may want to consider implementing an inactivity policy of some sort, along the lines of "If I'm inactive for X months, people with access may perform bureaucrat related tasks in my stead". Just a thought. Kylu 16:21, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile it are 9 pro's(10 including me;-)). And I implemeted an inactivity-policy. Thank you for this hint! --Murma174 11:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now there are 10 votes (excluding Murma174). Holder 03:48, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now 12. Holder 05:04, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So by your preference on the discussion page, you want to wait for another five, yes? Kylu 03:50, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, perhaps also 10 votes could be enough for a small wiki ;-) Holder 16:16, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
full support - in the first weeks and months I was editig and helping on frr, -jkb- 18:33, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If someone would adds a single contra vote to the election then Murma174 could fulfull every requirement mentioned at the talk page. At the moment Murma has 14 votes with 100% pro. The highest requirement there is 15 votes with 80% support (=min. 12 pros + 3 cons). Merlissimo 19:19, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or email oversight-l@lists.wikimedia.org for requests regarding English Wikipedia. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

Request

Dear Jimmy, I am a Wikipedia contributor in the Portuguese language and am requesting your intervention in the project. There exists among us a tremendous amount of intrigue, harassment, personal threats, inadequate block, clash of egos and power abuses. I can not stand such injustice, so many users with destructive behavior, so much political intrigue and partiality in administrators. The new users are intimidated and abandon the project, edit wars proliferate and the bad users trying to silence their opponents with lock requests without foundation. Users with bad behavior are protected by administrators and users who try to expose corruption are blocked. The rule is trying to impose views and threaten to block those who disagree with arbitrariness. I am tired. This project is broken, please dismisses administrators and cancel their arbitrary actions, otherwise the credibility of Wikipedia is extinguished. Thank you.

PS: sorry for my bad english. Leandro LV (talk) 20:07, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Jimbo rarely gets involved in other wikis. Problems with other wikis properly belong at Meta, here. Rodhullandemu 01:54, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
