One or more of your media uploads have been proposed for deletion
[edit]Hi Incnis Mrsi. One or more of your media uploads have been proposed for deletion at Meta:Requests_for_deletion#Images. The most common reasons for this are a missing source (author, weblink, source material) or a missing license (license tag, license text or a verifiable permission by the copyright holder). Please add the missing information and note this at the Requests for deletion page. If the missing information is not fixed, the media may be deleted two weeks after this message has been placed. Here is a list of all your uploads on this wiki. Cheers! Siebrand 10:51, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Vote on Steward elections
[edit]I'm sorry but unfortunately the discussion for the steward confirmations and the votes for the Steward Elections were closed at midnight today (actually 23:59:59 yesterday) UTC. Because of this, to be fair to everyone else, I had to remove the comments you made after the date change. If you have any questions please feel free to let me know. James (T C) 01:12, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, you've changed the above file on Commons. I found out a mistake: The shown Checkpoint Bravo (Dreilinden/Drewitz) isn't used since 1969. This checkpoint is positioned round about 2 km's to the east. On the other side, it's not possible to change the description because the new checkpoint Stolpe/Heiligensee in the northwest of Berlin is valid from 1987 on.
I'll send a notice to Commons:User:Sansculotte, too. -- Juergen (on German wikibooks) 10:25, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Autopatrolled
[edit]Hi Incnis Mrsi, just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatroll right to your account, as you are a trustworthy user. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Meta:Autopatrollers. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Ruy Pugliesi◥ 14:57, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Fundraising translation feedback
[edit]Hey Incnis Mrsi,
I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.
To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Russian using This Link
Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.
Many Thanks

Test2wiki
[edit]Would you like to participate with User:Marshmallych to look after the test 2 site for blocking if the LTA Liza Veniza vandal sock try to attack there one day? SA 13 Bro (talk) 18:36, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
- @SA 13 Bro: do you mean granting me sysop rights in test2? I can apply if you deem it useful, and will do some action against the vandals—such as abuse filters—if circumstances required it, but of course you should not expect a steady commitment from me. Also, if I will participate on test2, then I’ll do it myself. The fact Marshmallych is from the same country doesn’t imply we shall cooperate closely. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 19:00, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
Also, some stuff related more to SA 13 Bro rather than to the question. I don’t think that the Fuerdai/IPhones/China crackpot is really the same person as the original Willy vandal. The former likely usurped the “… on Wheels” brand abandoned by its creator. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 19:00, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
- I was thinking about this vandal account and last time you have replied me about this on the help issue, the Fuerdai vandal was related to BMX On WheeIs on English Wikipedia while I am not very sure about the original Willy vandal, but the vandal account was global locked as Willy on Wheels. SA 13 Bro (talk) 20:09, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
- When there is no responsibility, then we see no care. Check-users in wikis are controlled by respective communities. Stewards—especially those holding positions inside Wikimedia bureaucracy—effectively have no regulating body over them. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 06:32, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Sa 13 Bro:, and Incnis, this Fuerdai vandal, he is making those accounts with those names so people see them and have negative feelings. Thats it. 70.21.184.216 12:18, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

A secondary question about "baddies"
[edit]Hello,
In the request Steward requests/Global#Global block for 95.26.124.172, I have written my main question for you, about your comments. But I have a secondary question, a general question.
I know that, since the closure of the page Vandalism reports, reports of cross-wiki vandalism and reports of long term abuse can be added into Steward requests/Miscellaneous. But with this cross-wiki long-term abuser, I consider that the investigation is already finished (since the two first requests). Now, I am just applying the solution n°3: requesting individual IP blocks.
You said "this section of Steward_requests/Global is [...] not for [...] chasing individual baddies in any way". Does it mean that I can use Steward_requests/Global to request blocks/locks only for short-term abusers, but not for long-term abusers?

Next steps for the wish “confirmation prompt for the rollback link”
[edit]Hello, a while ago you participated in a feedback round about a proposal how accidental clicks on the rollback link could be avoided. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and ideas!
Looking at the feedback and the rollback situation in different wikis, the development team decided how to approach this wish: As a default, most wikis won’t have a confirmation. But users who wish to have one, can enable it in their preferences, which will add a confirmation prompt to the rollback link on the diff page and on the list pages. The prompt won’t be a pop-up, but an inline prompt like for the thanks confirmation. You can read more about the planned solution and what influenced this decision on the project page. -- Best, Johanna Strodt (WMDE) (talk) 09:43, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Behaviour
[edit]This was wholly unneeded and very poor behaviour. Your combative attitude has currently got you banned from the steward IRC channel (as well as some others), and I can assure you that if you continue it here there will be consequences. This behaviour is not conducive to the respectful and constructive community we strive for. Tone it down. - TNT 💖 17:18, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- I don’t understand why did There'sNoTime make this innuendo about a sock allegedly locked before (or simultaneously with) my request and initially attributed it to a good-faith confusion. There is a faction among Freenode users who hound me because of my criticism. Undoing my correction, of course, is very conducive to the community these users strive for – namely, a community where they have a lot of “respect” (that is, authority), and little responsibility. Please, don’t be deceived by this fake reference to Wikimedia values. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 17:38, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
Kindly withdraw your characterization of my edits as "attacks" and "retaliatory slander" in this edit. — Jeff G. ツ 04:47, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Jeff G.: you are not a Freenode user and hence have no comprehensive picture of situation with hounding of me and my reasons to post on the forum. You happened to be involved in the conflict by a freak chance and I had no explicit intent to discuss you on Meta-wiki. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 07:15, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
Proposal about section links
[edit]Sorry for the confusion with Special:Diff/18674292. I didn't remove your comment, rather moved it under "Discussion" because it to me didn't look like a vote. I now see that it was, so sorry about that. I guess I was expecting to see {{oppose}} or the like, as seems to be the convention. Kind regards, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 23:25, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- I didn’t say {{oppose}} because have nothing to do against such functionality in principle (e.g. some preferences option or a gadget). I only oppose the current implementation, that is, injecting this crap into the core MediaWiki. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 09:07, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Language and participation
[edit]Hi Incnis Mrsi, some of your contributions on the IP editing privacy enhancement page have been a bit wanting in terms of tone. Calling the discussion a trainwreak, repeatly calling ideas stupid, and those sorts of comments are not necessary for conveying your opinion (which is very welcome). Could I ask that you give a bit more thought to your responses, and try to maintain a more respectful and productive tone? Thanks, – Ajraddatz (talk) 17:51, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- What’s wrong with the word “trainwreak”? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 18:02, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- It carries a slightly aggressive tone, even though it isn't directed against anyone. While I am also worried about the WMF's approach to this issue, I want to keep the discussion somewhat welcoming and respectful so the WMF doesn't get further incentive to either ignore the community or move their discussion off-wiki to something like the Wikimedia space where they would be able to moderate it more strictly. Regards, – Ajraddatz (talk) 18:09, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
Win friends and influence people
[edit]I am not certain that your current approach is exactly a winner. Please do not start thinking that any of the administrators is here to obey your orders. Not happening, we are al volunteers. If you are making a request, then please consider the grammar and approach for a request. If you cannot do that, then maybe you are at the wrong place. This place simply doesn't work well if there is no attempt at civility. — billinghurst sDrewth 15:08, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hopefully Billinghurst may yet another time see that various imaginable “simply set a process that the role is only to lock spambots, we all know what they look like, and where they are” deterrents to admins’ power pertain to Utopia, not Wikimedia. A problematical mobile user is globally blocked as “Open proxy” and I’m ignored in Freenode for fifty minutes… what an ignominy. By the way, those young admins’ “more stewards” agenda will result in nothing else than pushing quality standard even lower. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 15:36, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- I received no ping from you, therefore I can't ignore something I am not aware of. I'll re-review the WHOIS data and Ports to see if I made a mistake while looking at several other IP data. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 18:22, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- No idea why doesn’t {{u}} produce a ping here although it makes it in en.Wikipedia and Commons. Anyway an IRC session with (MarcoAurel@wikimedia/marcoaurelio) is connected to Freenode, is not marked away, and no other pretext appears to doubt that the declared person uses it for real-time communication. Yet my query from <qq[IrcCity]> is ignored for four hours. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 19:00, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
{{u}}
does generate a ping here, that's why I found your thread over RFH. I meant that I did not received a ping for you on IRC today. Sorry for not being clear. I was connected for like half an hour today morning, and half and hour in the afternoon. If my nick is/was still there I certainly was not, as I'm not right now. Probably just closing HexChat doesn't make me/quit
the network, as opposed to what my old Chatzilla did. Apologies if you felt I ignored you. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 19:19, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

- I agree with Billinghurst. We're all volunteers here, performing our volunteer roles to the best of our ability. Our work is not perfect but I don't know a single steward/Meta admin that is here with anything less than good intentions. The way to influence is by making compelling arguments, not insulting and degrading your fellow volunteers. – Ajraddatz (talk) 18:38, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
AGF. If you think an admin or a steward has made a mistake, or you believe that there is a need for clarification, then politely ask the admin/steward on their talk page. Talk pages are the official communication means, with something like IRC being a useful add-on. There is no requirement for anyone to be responsive in IRC, and to be take to task for not being responsive is just inappropriate. Re your other commentary, it is a wasted debate, both here and where it is currently taking place. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:44, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
Civility
[edit]Please try to keep your comments to others civil. (see WM:URB) Here are a few diffs/sections of concern over the last few days: [1] [2], [3], [4], [5], [6] (the bottom bit), [7], [8], [9], [10]. Please be sure your comments focus on the issue at hand, and are not disparaging of other editors. You've been warned about this already, so consider this a final one. Failure to maintain civility standards in the future will necessitate a preventative block. Vermont (talk) 19:30, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
- I'll add this in here, which is entirely unacceptable. Vermont (talk) 19:33, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
- This is an attack on the requester, addressing their argument sarcastically, and a veiled insult towards stewards. If you oppose the lock request, you can make that known, but attacking the requester is completely irrelevant and intended to do nothing but start drama and conflict. As such, I am placing a six month block on your account for repeated violations of our civility policies over a long period of time. Vermont (talk) 11:32, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!
18:26, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
We invite all registered users to vote on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey. You can vote from now until 21 December for as many different wishes as you want.
In the Survey, wishes for new and improved tools for experienced editors are collected. After the voting, we will do our best to grant your wishes. We will start with the most popular ones.
We, the Community Tech, are one of the Wikimedia Foundation teams. We create and improve editing and wiki moderation tools. What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in. Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!
