About translations categories[edit]

Hello,

I'm about to add categories to translations, as I promised some months ago.

I was reading again my request and I saw your last comment explaining me that Category:Translations fr should be used only for official translations. Please correct me if I'm wrong : pages like Global sysops/fr and Stewards/fr should not appear there ? Thanks. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 12:42, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's fine if those are in there. :-) The category automatically gets added to pages that make use of Template:Translation. Cbrown1023 talk 23:59, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CentralNotice[edit]

I've set this page as previous year for the CentralNotice regarding the steward elections. We should be creating the templates for the CentralNotice, etc (but I do not know how to do that :) ) When you've time, could you please have a look? Thanks in advance and happy new year. --dferg ☎ talk 15:56, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, Fundraising 2010 still has CentralNotice for most of the next month (and Wikimania wants to use it as well), so I'm not sure if we'll be able to do it any time soon. :-( Cbrown1023 talk 00:00, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

wmfgc - full memoserv inbox[edit]

Good evening,

HW noticed the wmfgc's memoserv inbox is full while he were requesting a cloak.

Happy new year. --Dereckson 18:04, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's has been fixed by Dungodung. --Dereckson 00:11, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, thanks for the poke. The reason this happens is because Filip sometimes forgets to clear out the MemoServ inbox after he processes cloak requests since he uses the copy that arrives in his inbox. Filip has been diligently processing cloak requests while I was gone -- there isn't a backlog or anything, it was just a little oversight. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 00:02, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

Hi, I'm J. Gustavo Góngora. How are you doing? Could you please remove my phone number from this page? Thank you in advance. Cheers, --Góngora (TES) 16:09, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done Philippe (WMF) 16:16, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, sorry, but my phone number is still there. :S You have just deleted my reference as the Catalan language contact. Could you please restore that and just remove my phone number? It was repeated twice, since I'm both the Spanish and the Catalan contact. I will be happy if you only leave my e-mail address. Thanks. --Góngora (TES) 16:39, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. PeterSymonds 16:49, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Translate[edit]

Hi, could i have a question ? Its nothing hard. You are the first contact what i found with subject translation. So here the ask. How the hell add language to the book ? I spent about one hour of finding that but nothing.. Could you help ? Sad MrUzel..The preceding unsigned comment was added by MrUzel (talk • contribs) 19:11, 14 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]

What do you mean by "add language to the book"? I'm sorry but I don't understand that part. :-( Cbrown1023 talk 15:39, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

why?[edit]

Hi, I have another account "Калан", however u did block my account. But I don't know why u block my account, cause someone else have the account "Калан" in Russian pages. Please don't give me a bum-rap. ;) --Калан-Два 11:38, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Kalah, could you talk to Kaganer about this? He's from the Russian Wikipedia and asked for the block. Cbrown1023 talk 02:16, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Cbrown. Thanks for the tip :). Now I'm not in trouble with this matter yet, but I want to know why I blocked to avoid the same problems. --Калан-Два 02:37, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Planet Wikimedia Español[edit]

Hi Cbrown1023, just regarding the request in Planet Wikimedia/New language, I've created the stub file on the SVN server. It's time to have some feeds listed on the config file before it is accessible on the web. Please see also mediazilla:26863 for the site requests. Shinjiman 14:14, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks. There's a few feeds being used on "Planeta Wikipedia" (an unofficial aggregator) that you could probably add to the new planet. Cbrown1023 talk 16:02, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done in rev:81073. Shinjiman 23:55, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moldovan Wikipedia[edit]

Hei. About the Moldovan Wikipedia, I put the notice at the top because it is not a proposal for blocking/freezing (as the others), instead it is a proposal for deletion. Do you think it should stay in the regular table? It's ok for me, but I thought it should get special atention because of this. --Danutz 16:13, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think it should still be in the regular table. The other requests are just as important as this one. Cbrown1023 talk 20:48, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Account reactivation[edit]

Hi Casey,

I recently sent a message to Daniel yesterday, but now that I see that he is inactive, I'd like to forward the message to you. Here is the message. I hope that it does not cause any inconvenience to you.

Cheers

Vito Genovese 16:17, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have reactivated your account, Vito! Sorry about the confusion. I guess our inactivity report did not acknowledge the fact that you came back, but we decided to err on the side of closing inactive accounts because it can be so easily undone and it had been so long since we had cleaned out inactive accounts. It's good to have you back and sorry again for this! :-) Cbrown1023 talk 20:50, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much, Casey, for this kind and quick response as well as the reactivation. It's great to be back! :)

OTRS access requested to solve the commons:Template:CC-AR-Presidency problem[edit]

Former OTRS volunteer pl:Wikipedysta:Saper sent me an E-mail, saying he knows someone in Argentina who could help talk with the Argentina Presidency again and solve the :commons:Template:CC-AR-Presidency problem discussed at commons:Commons talk:Licensing#Template:CC-AR-Presidency. He would like to have his OTRS access restored. OTRS username is "saper".

I was told I had to ask an OTRS administrator for that, so I am asking you.

Teofilo 00:56, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note, but I'm already in discussions with Marcin and have explained the situation to him. About this specific issue, I would suggest that you stay in contact with Wikimedia Argentina at the moment. Cbrown1023 talk 02:27, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is no contact between me and Wikimedia Argentina at the moment. I have sent them 2 e-mails, at the address mentioned on http://www.wikimedia.org.ar/wiki/Portada but I have no hint that anybody has read them. Teofilo 11:05, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS Access[edit]

Hi

I'm Srikeit and I'm an admin on the English Wikipedia. I understand that you have closed my OTRS account for inactivity and probably a lack of RL verification. I have mailed my identification to secure-info(_AT_)wikimedia.org and would really appreciate it if you could restore my access to OTRS. I realise that I am only intermittently active but I intend to be more involved in the future.

Thanks and Regards

Srikeit 16:43, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've received an email from Christine stating that my ID has been accepted and my access was, as far as she knows, not revoked. In that case, I may have forgotten my password. I request you to reset my password. I'm Srikeit T on OTRS. I would also be very grateful for being reinstated on the OTRS-Personnel list.
Thanks and Regards
Srikeit 21:28, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Srikeit, your account wasn't closed because of not having identified, we haven't closed any accounts for that yet. It was closed just because it was inactive, which is why Christine didn't know it was closed (she's just involved in the identification process), sorry for the confusion there. Since you said you plan on becoming involved again, I have reopened your account. Your previous password should still work, but you can also request a new one on the right-side of the page if it does not. Cbrown1023 talk 21:59, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :) --Srikeit 17:37, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

wikimedia-admin[edit]

Hello!

I've during the last few days completely cleaned out the access list of our IRC admin channel. Per this clean up, we've also updated and re-organized the on-wiki record of this channel here. This list is now exactly the same as the access list on IRC. Please always remember to update this list when making changes to the channel on IRC. It's just a reminder. Best, -Barras 12:38, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

Hello. I proposed a project for deletion some weeks ago (see proposal here). The problem is that there is a user (User:Node_ue) there that in my opinion vandalizes the proposal. He intercalated text in the very text of the proposal, and if you see that page, you might even think that his additions are part of my proposal (because I signed the introduction). Moreover, I used sources to make the arguments in the proposal verifiable. In exchange, the user responded with texts like "that is a lie" (without providing any contrary source or such). I told him to discuss the proposal on the talk page, but not modify the very text of the proposal because that makes the proposal without object (and makes the vote on the proposal ambigous). I also asked him (see here) at least not to intercalate his text into my text, becase I signed the proposal, and by that he alterates what I wrote. Please not that I did not express opinions, I put just some referenced arguments. Here you can compare my last version with Node-ue's version. He also deleted some of the sources (?! - allthough they were not tricky). I thought about asking the protection of the page, but that will prevent other users to vote on the proposal. Please, can you suggest what I can do? Maybe putting the voting section into a new template, and include it on the proposal page, then protect the proposal page?! Please help me, because I'm stuck and I don't want to engage in edit wars. Have a nice day. --Danutz 00:38, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cbrown1023, I don't think this is an accurate portrayal of events. Danutz seems to believe that the intro to the proposal should be monopolized by his POV (that is, that mo.wp should be deleted); I think it's more than reasonable to give equal space to both arguments. He initially insisted on removing my counterarguments, however he has not recently and so the page remains as you see it today. --Node ue 02:40, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like Seb came in and helped with this. If it's still an issue, you could try posting about it on WM:RFH so that some uninvolved administrators could look into the issue. Cbrown1023 talk 19:51, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for new mailing lists[edit]

Hi. At some point it would probably make sense to re-evaluate whether Bugzilla is the best venue for requesting new mailing lists. It's largely a product of history and chance that new requests for mailing lists go into Bugzilla. Switching to a wiki page here (at Meta-Wiki) might be a better option. --MZMcBride 16:34, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe. It works for me to have it on Bugzilla and it makes sense, it's technically a shell request but it's just also handled by non-shell users too. We don't really have any other ticketing systems that it would go onto. "Request pages" seem to be more of something for discussion, while this is more of a binary decision: if a local community has enough people and decides they'll use a mailing list, they get it. Cbrown1023 talk 21:34, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how it's a shell request. It's really not. It requires access to a web UI, not the actual servers, right? Shell requests would generally require a... shell (to edit CommonSettings.php, for example). Anyway, if you're happy with Bugzilla, I guess that's fine for now. It still doesn't really feel like a software bug/feature, but I'm sure there are other categories of tickets that Bugzilla has that are in a similar situation. --MZMcBride 02:48, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fellowships subpage structure and input box[edit]

Hey, thanks for the organizing help. I just wondered... is it possible to hide the long subpage prefix from the input box, so that all people have to do is enter a title? I toyed with it and couldn't figure it out offhand. Steven Walling at work 22:04, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I did a little research and it turns out that we actually have some helpful documentation for InputBox on MediaWiki.org: mw:Extension:InputBox. Thanks to that page, I think I figured out how to do it. :-) Is this what you were lookign for?
By the way, the page looks awesome! Cbrown1023 talk 22:14, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fallback language for texts to be translated[edit]

Hi, Casey. I have a question: You know I translate here on Meta for Lower and Upper Sorbian. But I can't translate all texts firstly because I'm the only one who does that and secondly because the work often is not worth doing for those "small" languages. Therefore I translate centralnotices above all. But in a centralnotice is or a centralnotice itself is a link to a text I don't intend to translate. This text remains in English then. Isn't it possible to use another language as fallback language - for the Sorbian languages it should be German - if the text has been already translated into this fallback language? Thanks in advance and kind regards, --Michawiki 20:47, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Michawiki! It's not possible to always use a fallback language, but I can do it on a case-by-case basis. I've created hsb and dsb pages on strategy, but redirected them to the German pages. That way you don't need us to update anything if you decide to translate the pages — just put your translations on the regular page and the link will be working. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 01:24, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. Regards, --Michawiki 11:50, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Brasil[edit]

Hi, could you block for a long time to page the Wikimedia Brazil? It has suffered several acts of vandalism, and it is better to have it blocked for no future vandalism. And there is no need for changes to this page because we are focused on page br.wikimedia.org. Thanks. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 02:41, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But edit war [1], improper movimentation are[2]... And I know, after I fit the page according to the website, br.wikimedia.org, there will be reversals, or attacks made by the user Beria, which is against the current model and does not know how to behave. The same user who made the request to move not approved by the Brazilian community, the edit war that I showed, and who made changes to the page of Wikimedia Sao Paulo for the same reasons[3]. The 2011 Editors Survey[edit]

Cbrown, it appears that you wrote (or imported) most of the Wikipedia Editors Survey for 2011. Were you authoring this survey from scratch, or were you working off some original outline or source? It would be helpful to know the level of your "mandate" on this survey, because there have been several calls that it could still use improvement, even though translations into other languages are "due" in just about 10 days. Could you please make a comment on the English version's Talk page, please? Thanks! -- Thekohser on surveys 20:52, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dutch Survey[edit]

Hello Cbrown1023,

As was in the email, I updated the nl version of the editors survey. However, when I took the test, I found some small spelling/grammar mistakes. Now that the survey is "published" I probably can't change this anymore. Is there any possibility of changing this (it's about 1 question where 2 answers have spelling mistakes).

Greetings, Kthoelen 18:38, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, weird, now that I see the raw text, it seems to be fine... could it be that the test survey was an older version of the text? Kthoelen 18:44, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You can still make changes, just update the status to "ready" when it needs to be published. Hmm, I'm not sure if the test survey is an older version, you should ask user:Manipande. Cbrown1023 talk 19:07, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Translations and checking mechanism[edit]

Hi, Cbrown1023.
Are you the one that lets the translations go to the survey? [6]
I wrote on the talkpage [7], as well as in the edit summaries that that translation needs thorough combwork [8].
This way, this incorrect translation [9] contains serious mistake, that gives completely other meaning in Croatian.
"We will not share any individually identifiable data with any outside organizations ..."
was translated with
"Nećemo davati bilo kakve osobne podatke drugim organizacijama...".
In Croatian, the translation with "bilo kakve" here means that
"We will not share all individually identifiable data, but the most important of that personal data we will share"!
Why such a hurry to publish? Japonese, Swedish and Czech are not ready yet, Croatian could wait also. Bye, Kubura 03:34, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Small example.
"Nisam bilo tko. "="I'm not just anyone" (I'm not the ordinary, unimportant person, I'm someone important). Kubura 03:26, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As I said in the summary, the translations were due on March 23rd. Japanese, Swedish, and Czech missed the deadlines and weren't published. The only choices were to either publish what we had (and what text had been there for a long time) or not publish anything at all. Cbrown1023 talk 23:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cbrown1023, long time no see. We have updated Board elections/2011/Vote interface/ja since the Japanese text was not so good for native speakers. I created this edit notice as it seems that a large proportion of the requests for accounts on Request for an account on the Foundation wiki are for translations. Please feel free to change it as you see fit. :-)

Hope this helps,

The Helpful One 13:21, 5 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it'll really help, since it already says it in quite a few places and people just don't seem to read. :-( It might help some though, so thanks. Cbrown1023 talk 13:23, 5 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Babel template for Dutch and the category desynchronized[edit]

Dear m(r)(s) Brown,

You reverted my contribution to this category. Wrong. The Dutch text is right, the English under it is wrong! N=native (moedertaal) 4=fluent and so on... Greetings, S.I. 'Patio' Oliantigna 10:19, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

P.S: Example from my UserPage: {{#babel:nl-N|category=|en-3|category=|de-2|category=|fr-1|category=|it-1|category=}}

I didn't revert your contribution, I fixed the page to be accurate. As I said where you asked for help, that template refers to how the category is setup, not how the template is setup. It's pretty clear from looking at the template that N means moedertaal. What's not clear, and what we need the category description for, is how the category ordering is setup. The category is ordered the opposite as the template, with one being native/moedertaal. The reason for this is because we want to list the users who are the most fluent first--that is the most user-friendly because when someone's looking for a speaker of a language, they're going to want to see the most fluent first and not the basiskennis users. Cbrown1023 talk 13:29, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I'll ask help from a Dutch moderator. S.I. 'Patio' Oliantigna 09:16, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IFR warnings[edit]

Hey, Cbrown. Some warnings (example) are linking to a subpage of Board elections. Is it correct? Thanks.” Teles (Talk @ C S) 00:47, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, they're not supposed to be on there. Thank you, good catch. :-) Was that the only warning that still had them? I based the warnings off the board elections pages, but I may have forgotten to change more things. Cbrown1023 talk 00:50, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok. I guess there is only one more. Cheers.” Teles (Talk @ C S) 00:53, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

prettytable[edit]

Hello. The prettytable doesn't work anymore - wikitable must be used instead. I wanted to fix Template:Image filter referendum translation and related, but the code is a bit complex to understand it properly. Regards, -- Dferg ☎ talk 14:39, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dferg. I just copied the text from Template:Board elections 2011 translation. It looks like you fixed it, so thanks! Cbrown1023 talk 15:03, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I tryied, but please doublecheck if I broke something. Thank you! -- Dferg ☎ talk 15:05, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS[edit]

Hi Casey,

As I was finding my way through the OTRS-system, I stumbled upon some 28k of mail, waiting in the junk queue. Someone (on IRC) told me that these had to be purged/deleted by an admin. Do you know anything more about this? (It hasn't been done in a while, the first email is dated 5.01.2011 ..., maybe it's only once a year?) - Sincerely, Kthoelen 12:52, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You might want consider asking questions like this on OTRS wiki -- that's why we have the wiki, after all. ;-) You can just ignore the Junk queue. It's periodically cleared, not yearly, but not as much recently. You don't need to do anything to it though, it's fine to just sit there. Cbrown1023 talk 19:09, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I was considering that, but I didn't know if there was a lot of activity, and I think this was going to be faster :) But then it's ok, I won't worry anymore ;) - Sincerely, Kthoelen 19:23, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Casey,

I'd like your input here: Talk:Communications subcommittees/Trans#creating a Translation Committee

Re: IFR/A[edit]

Is this clearer? I know that the table is not updated in this way, but I didn't know what to do. Perhaps we should remove all village pumps and leave a row "all village pumps notified", or something like that (I don't know how to make this language-independent, though). Nemo 16:14, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I still think we should add all of the pages that we posted it to the table, plus the languages it was done in. It's a good thing if there are a ton of rows, because that makes it clear how far the message has been spread and how many people have been contacted. :-) In the meantime, I've tweaked your text a little bit. Thanks! Cbrown1023 talk 16:20, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

For your thanks! And thank you also for preparing the translation, it was very pleasant to work with all these templates well-working, I was nicely surprised by already having the original English version by clicking on a missing French translation (instead of the traditional copy-paste), the well-presented summary of the translation, the simplicity for the template parameters and these kind of very pleasant small things. Thanks to you! ~ Seb35 [^_^] 17:44, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

:D I can't take full credit for everything, since a lot of it is based on the existing templates we have on Meta -- but I'm glad everything worked well and you thought it was easy to work with. I've heard that a lot of people don't like translating on Meta-Wiki at all and completely hate it, so it's really refreshing to hear the opposite. :-) Thanks again for all of your help. Cbrown1023 talk 16:58, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Casey,

The original text seams to have several problems. Could you see to get a proofed original version before we continue with the translations? I'm not sure who is responsible for the text. More on the discussion page.

Thanks, --MarianoC 13:23, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there; I think we finished the Spanish translation. Thanks for all the translations, specially the tedious country names and currencies. I set it up for proofreading; I'll try to find someone to do it, but if you have someone that is not from Argentina, then all the better.
There are nevertheless two words than need translating, and that is the title of the first section: "Terminate language". The thing is that I don't know what it means. The French and Portuguese translated it as "language not supported". In German is more like "Termination Message" (or so I understand), and in Russian something like "Cancelation". So, what is it supposed to really mean?
Thanks, --MarianoC 12:28, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind; just saw your answer in the talk page. The need for a non-Argentine proofreader still stands though. --MarianoC 12:33, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, that's great to hear, Mariano! Thank you so much for all of the work you put into it. :-) I'll see if I can find a non-Argentine to proofread it, though I think our favorite Argentines like you, Ivana, and Galio do a great job. ;-) Cbrown1023 talk 00:56, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS volunteer[edit]

Hello Casey Can you give me some advice for becoming an OTRS volunteer. I has applied for it 2 times and failed. But I still want to have OTRS access because I want to help with the backlog and there is only one Vietnamese OTRS volunteer here. Thank you very much--Hoangquan hientrang 16:16, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hoangquan hientrang, I would just suggest that you gain more experience on your home wiki. Focus on writing more content there and participating in the "meta aspects" and discussions on the project, and maybe even apply for adminship. Cbrown1023 talk 17:00, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania Template[edit]

Good idea, the bar looks better without the linked city. We missed you at Wikimania, hope to see you next year? -- fuzheado 01:53, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I didn't make it this year, but I heard it was awesome. Wikimania 2012 will be a lot closer to me, so I should see you there. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 16:59, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cbrown[edit]

Ooopps, sorry for that, I've set it to (repair bad links only) but i forgot to (un-enable the Append Text) 1st. Thank you. Sean 01:08, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, all I can do here it's translation (from English to Arabic to English). Take alook to this page (Image filter referendum FAQ.ar) which I'v translated from English to Arabic. I hope you like it.

Re:OTRS volunteer[edit]

Thank you very much for your help. In fact, I am more active on Wikimedia Commons than on Wikipedia. I mainly work with images and check license for them (image reviewing, copyvio or missing permission tagging and DRs). So OTRS will help me to check the permission as well as detecting images which are lack of permission and fake permission. So is my work on Commons considered? And do I need to be an admin to have OTRS? Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you--Hoangquan hientrang 15:53, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your work at Commons is definitely considered. :-) You don't necessarily need to be an admin to be on OTRS, but it helps get you experience in different areas and shows community trust and knowledge in similar areas to OTRS. You are still pretty new though, so I suggest you get some more experience in general and then look into applying again in like six months to a year. Cbrown1023 talk 03:46, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Casey, I have created the template {{cn translation status note}}. I think it has a use like this. Do you think in the same way? If so, then use it in other places as well. Thanks! :-) — Tanvir | Talk ] 12:18, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's similar to {{cn translation header}} which is usually used at the top of pages and in editnotices. The header is definitely a lot more cluttered though, so yours might be better. Maybe redirect the note the header and update the header text? Cbrown1023 talk 13:52, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Great, then I will update that and will redirect this one. :) — Tanvir | Talk ] 15:24, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

pif referendum campaign preferred[edit]

Hi Casey :)

The "pif referendum" CentralNotice campaign is currently set as "preferred". If I understand that correctly, that overrides any other banners there might be.

Can we remove that flag? There are other banners which should be displayed as well ;) --Church of emacs talk · contrib 08:11, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Tobias. What other banners are running? The only other one currently running is the Indian WikiConference, which is also set preferred. Cbrown1023 talk 14:20, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to run the German WikiConference banner. I've now set it to preferred, I hope that's okay :) --Church of emacs talk · contrib 17:27, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think setting it to preferred as well should be fine. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 17:43, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Persian version of image filter referendum[edit]

Some of fawiki users and I have translated pages related to image filter referendum to Persian, but the voting interface is still in English.

Does it mean that all of our efforts were fruitless? Americophile 17:41, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Americophile! I know that you translated all of the referendum pages to Persian — I was watching the whole time with a big smile on my face and was very excited when Persian got to 100%. :D Unfortunately the voting interface doesn't get updated instantaneously. We have to get a sysadmin to run a script to grab all of the translations and then another person has to upload them to the server. I'll contact the tech team and ask them to get all the translations updated ASAP. Thanks for all your translation work! Cbrown1023 talk 17:45, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CN Problem[edit]

Hello Cassey. I can't see anything. Can you? I'm a bit wary that the same is happening for other users and thus they're not aware of the election. Best, -- Marco Aurelio 17:43, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can only see the ast. Although I cannot see for Bengali, but the notice works fine in Bengali projects. I think customized script creates a little fight with shared JS there, that's why the preview is unavailable. — Tanvir | Talk ] 04:38, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Access for Wikimedia Turkey mailing list[edit]

Hi, in the effort of building a chapter people keep telling me no one can access this mailing list and no one is administering it now. The mailing list would help keep discussion on the fine points of the chapter formation centralized and semi-private. Could you look into the matter? -- とある白い猫 chi? 00:57, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You need to create a bug on Bugzilla and have someone in ops reset the password. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to fix this. Cbrown1023 talk 20:45, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is it allowed in Wikipedia?[edit]

To keep in the pages of wiki Administrator's personnel thesis? at http://sd.wikipedia.org ? Other problem is We call Computer as same in English, but admin forcibly used his word Ganpukar of Computer. I have proof that thousands of published books called it Computer not Ganpukar. If some one oppose him he started abusive language. That is the reason sd.wikipedia.org never got attraction to Sindhi community. Plz check record there. Other things are he locked CSS due to that on the same site there are lot of font styles appeared there. He is not able to set commonCSS or Monocss. We are in trouble to work in our local Sindhi language. I don't know where to say for this problem. Record history says all the situation there. I appeal plz warn him to follow en.wikipedia.org rules, other wise he will continue use his personnel details and personnel promoted articles there. Dear I am sorry If u r not right person to say all about this, Plz suggest me where I can raise this issue. My sd.wikipedia.org ID is same.
