Please only make request here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community (i.e., don't list your bot here if you haven't consulted the local wiki for at least a week, or whatever local policies dictate). Previous requests are archived.

Instructions
Before posting here
Before posting here, please check the following points:
- If there is a bureaucrat on the local wiki (visit Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat on the wiki to check): Please ask them to fulfill your request using Special:UserRights on the relevant wiki.
- Before requesting access here, make sure to obtain consensus on the local wiki if there is a community (see the index of request pages). If there is no local community, request on this page with a note to that effect. You can ask local bot flag directly here for some wikis in some cases (see automatic approval).
- Remember to read the local project's bot policy. This should be linked from the local bot request page; a few are listed below. DO NOT post your request here without having fulfilled the local policies first, and having waited for at least a week to gauge community opinion. In the case that the project does not have a local bot policy, the global bot policy applies.

Making a request
- Place the following code at the bottom of the "Bot status requests" section below:
=== Bot name@xxproject === {{sr-request | status = <!--don't change this line--> | domain = | user name = | discussion = }} (your remarks) ~~~~
You can use following form when applying global bot status:
=== Global bot status for <yourbotname> === {{sr-request | status = <!--don't change this line--> | domain = global<!--don't change this line--> | user name = | discussion = }} {{indent|''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''}} (your remarks) ~~~~
-
Fill in the values:
- 'domain': the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
- 'user name': the bot's user name (like "ExampleBot"). Leave it blank if you're requesting access for multiple bots.
- 'discussion': a link to the local vote or discussion about the bot (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Bots#ExampleBot]]"). Notes: If there is no local vote or discussion, please say so below the template and explain why not. If there's no community, implement the standard bot policy instead.
- If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.
Global bot status requests
Global bots are enabled on most wikis using the standard bot policy (see list of global bot wikis and global bot access requirements). Request will typically be left open for several days to allow comments. Please add requests at the bottom of this section.
Global bot status for Wikisource-bot
- Global user: Wikisource-bot (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Discussion: Hi. Following a schema change, the Wikisources need to run a bot through and touch pages in the respective Page: nss (see phabricator task phab:T198470) and noting that the touching will lead to a light edit on some of these pages as it implements the change. There will be in the vicinity of several million pages to touch, so bot status is required to suitably grab larger slabs of pages, and also to allow a faster rate of processing. This bot running through will be only put through each language wikisource where that community has been unable to have a local bot operator undertake the task, or preferentially wishes for this bot to run the task.
Task: Run mw:Manual:Pywikibot/touch.py through ps:0, ps:1, ps:2, ps:3, ps:4 category-listed pages. Similarly task has been done previously following another schema change.
Note:
- If you were able to provide bot access to just Wikisources that would be preferable, though I don't see such a configuration currently existing. You may think that such a design useful and build it though that is your decision, not ours.
ALSO please apply the right apihighlimits-requestor (as done previously) as some new WSes seem to have missed being part of Global bot wikis and these wikis will still need to be done, and these wikis don't have 'crats. — billinghurst sDrewth 22:47, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Billinghurst: can you provide some example diffs for the "light edit"s you expect to introduce? — xaosflux Talk 13:12, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- It looks like the problems with causing "empty edits" is still being discussed at phab:T199042? I'm not a fan of pushing millions of edits through the front end if not necessary and see there is still some discussion on the first task listed. If this is the only way to fix the pages then I'm supportive of this being an exception to the global bot policy for a limited time and trust that the operator will stay on task. — xaosflux Talk 02:18, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- No. The T199042 task is about a change in the pywikibot itself. As the intended bot edits (initiated as nul-edits) are real edits that change database content (revision table, page_props table, and, in case of very old pages also page_text table) it is unlikely for this job to be done by software directly in the database. I have asked devs about such possibility (doing such jobs server-side) while deleteing a large category in Commons some time ago, but they suggested that such a solution is unlikely to be accepted. So, AFAIK, nobody considers this action as a server-side one now. Ankry (talk) 05:47, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- The requested tasks are outside of the global bot policy scope (verbatim: "the bot must only maintain interlanguage links or fix double-redirects"). As such, a global bot flag is not appropriate. Sorry, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 22:35, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- That said, if this task needs to be accomplished, and really needs to be handled via the frontend as xaosflux mentions above, I am willing to issue a temporary exception per IAR, but it's a "dangerous" precedent, given how strict the bot policy was precisely to favor the adoption of it on most wikis. If needed a temporary global group opting-in the wikisources where the bot needs to run can be created. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 22:42, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Removal of global bot status
Please see the removal policy for global bots for the requirements that must be met for global bot removal requests.
Bot status requests
Please add new requests at the bottom of this section.
Other bot accounts@bn.wikisource
I have been informed by @Martin Urbanec: on a Phabricator chat that our use of the 'bot user' flag on bnwikisource for actual bot accounts constitutes an abuse of that flag, so we would like to grant the actual bot flag to all such accounts that we had been treating this way (aside from Hrishikesbot which is being dealt with above). I am not sure that correcting an abuse such as this requires any sort of community consensus, but if this set of requests is put on hold indefinitely (or outright rejected) I would be willing to start such a community discussion. Mahir256 (talk) 23:11, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
- Yes,I can confirm. Thank you very much for requesting this! --Martin Urbanec (talk) 23:15, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
- Were there any discussions before flood flags were granted? Ruslik (talk) 08:41, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Mahir256, Bodhisattwa, and Jayantanth: pinging the requester and admins who assighed the flag. Ankry (talk) 06:16, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
- Were there any discussions before flood flags were granted? Ruslik (talk) 08:41, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
┌─────────────────────────────────┘
@Ruslik0, Matiia, and Ankry: Apologies for the prolonged delay in response. @Jayantanth: had just given my bot the flag as "tempora[ril]y given" without discussion; I did not intend to make use of that account for bot edits on bnwikisource, instead mainly intending it for Wikidata bot edits, but at the time he gave the flag I had been using that account on bnwikisource for manual edits back when a log-in bug affected my main account. Jayantanth gave タチコマ robot the flag by virtue of being a 'long-time trusted bot' (apparently satisfying a request from 2008 from the bot's operator). @Bodhisattwa: just gave ListeriaBot the flag, and Jayantanth to Phe-bot, but I cannot readily find any discussions about those. Mahir256 (talk) 16:54, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- In this case a discussion for each bot is required before we can grant bot flag. Ruslik (talk) 19:37, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

Removal of bot status
Requests for removal of the bot status from your own bots can be done here. If a specific user is abusing his/her bot status, you may request removal of the status on his account here as well. Please be sure to provide a short explanation on the current situation, along with links to the bot's contribution and an announcement in your community of the abuse. Previous requests are archived.
