Of course normal users care about categories (nornal categories, not tracking categories). How else are we supposed to find related content? Suggested articles? In my language at least, suggestions tend to be very one-sided (entertainment related).Al12si (talk) 06:35, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment after survey has ended: missed this so didn't vote. I think it's been also suggested a few times earlier. In addition, the Wikipedia app does not show Commons categories for media files when opening the media file which can be very useful. In the 2024 Commons' Technical needs survey, showing categories on mobile was the most supported proposal. There is no reason to hide them. Just displaying these links can't be super difficult, I think it could be done fairly quickly if there was a will. This is very true in Commons, I was more likely to search for categories in Commons (when I'm visiting via mobile), less so when I'm visiting Wikipedia and other projects. So this might be focused as Commons specific instead? Thoughts from other who voted yes? Support One in every 4-5 visits in mobile Wikimedia site, I was looking for categories in the bottom of the articles. Would be awesome if I can do this without resorting to change to PC view.
That said, it was not reaaally necessary to do this wish, since people who want to see the category like me can just switch to the PC view in their mobile, and the new (PC view) skin works quite well in mobile view (just need to close the TOC on the left to get the full width view). Weak support. If the article has many categories, then the usefulness of categories is questionable for readers.
