Steward requests/Global permissions
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Hello. I live in Turkey, where Wikipedia is banned and blocked, hence I cannot edit and make corrections in Wikipedia, more precisely in German Wikipedia where used to participate until Wikipedia was blocked in Turkey in April 2017. --Saguamundi (talk) 17:06, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Global rename for Yunshui
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)
- User: Yunshui (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 3 May 2018 11:51 UTC
I spend a lot of my time on en-wiki reviewing username blocks, and would be able to ease the workload of other en-wiki global renamers if I had this right. However, please note that I'm not especially active on other Wikimedia sites, and that while I'm extremely familiar with the en-wiki username policies I won't necessarily be au fait with those outside my local wiki - so I will probably stick to non-contentious local renames as much as possible. Yunshui (talk) 11:51, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support. We get a large number of unblock requests on en.wiki which require renaming, and an admin being able to do the rename and the unblock at the same time makes it easier for the blocked editor (with the arcane 2-step process being quite confusing), and it helps reduce the burden at the global rename queues. Yunshui is one of our most prolific admins working on unblocks, has a lot of experience, and is as trustworthy as any other I know. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:45, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

- Support trusted user who can probably figure out how to rename users properly. That said, it strikes me that enwiki is making work for itself - if you simply add a link to Special:GlobalRenameRequest for users who are blocked because of their username then every admin active in unblocks wouldn't need to also be a global renamer (inspired by @Matiia:). – Ajraddatz (talk) 16:28, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
- That's an interesting suggestion - as most admins seem to use the Twinkle tool, it would only need the link to be added to the appropriate Twinkle block messages and the blocked editor could request a name change first. Having said that, it's sometimes surprising how many times blocked editors suggest new names which are still unsuitable on en.wiki (but might be fine elsewhere - eg company names on de.wiki). Global rename for Dlohcierekim
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)
- User: Dlohcierekim (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 3 May 2018 12:42 UTC
While I have no interest in renaming except on the English Wikipedia, it would streamline processing user name unblock requests on English Wikipedia. Now I must unblock and ask the requester to wait further for renaming. I could do it all in a single page visit, thus lifting the load from others.Dlohcierekim (talk) 12:42, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

- Support Same as with Boing!: there are a relatively small number of us who regularly work unblocks on en.wiki, and renames are one of the most frequent unblock request types. Dloh has a need here, and it would be useful for him. TonyBallioni (talk) 14:07, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello. I want this permission to respond to solicitations on lusophone projects, mainly pt.Wikipédia. I'm sysop on this wiki and the requests on pt:Wikipédia:Renomeação de conta are serviced by only two users, and there is a constant flow of requests. This is the reason for my request. I'm stay openned to questions. Thanks! Stanglavine (talk) 20:03, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
