Global sysop for Stang
- Global user: Stang (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 24 September 2022 23:22 UTC
- Language: zh-N, en-2
- Personal info: Hello everyone, this is Stang, I'm here to request global-sysop access to help with blocking LTAs and spambots on small wikis, protecting related vandalized pages, rollbacking edit tests, and apparent vandalism.
- I have been editing Wikipedia since 2015 and my home wiki is Chinese Wikipedia. I'm also active on many other big or small projects, where I mainly perform maintenance works, translate multilingual pages, and do a small amount of content contribution. I hold rollback flags on multiple sites, which is helpful when performing mass rollback on a particular user's edits. Speaking about experiences related to waving a mop, I have been a sysop on the Chinese Wikipedia from 2016 till 2021, and currently a sysop on the Beta Wikiversity (since 2016), Wikidata, and MediaWiki wiki (both since this year). Although the experience related to performing administrative actions is not enough compared to other previous candidates, I feel that I have sufficient ability to identify vandalism and spam, and I know what to do when such bad kinds of stuff come into my eye.
- During the past year, I made a number of requests on GSR page, and left some messages on the GS IRC channel. Sometimes it's not that easy to reach an online GS, and I thought in such cases I could give a hand. I use tools like SWViewer and TwinkleGlobal to quickly spot suspicious edits; most of the time when I am online, I could be reached in channel #wikimedia-stewards and #wikimedia-gs. I am also willing to process some simple requests posted on SRM.
- I have read and understand policy restricted GS's scope, and have 2FA enabled on my account; for transparency, I was affected by a recent office action. Thanks. Stang 23:22, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- I understand that not all the details can be provided about the WMF desysop on zhwiki, but without those I find it hard to provide a proper evaluation of this candidacy. --Rschen7754 01:51, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Considering that the action taken was to desysop/decrat you and GS has sysop rights on most zh-related wikis, WMF should be informed of this. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 06:06, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for your interest in this request. However, I could not provide any detailed explanation for the desysop on zhwiki except this letter from the T&S team. I previously sent a email to the T&S asking if I need to inform them, and they said it's not needed to do so. Stang 07:51, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Dancewithdevil
- Global user: Dancewithdevil (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hello. I need this right because of some existing problem with my internet and in order to continue to contribute. Of course, I problem a lot without this right. I request your evaluation. Good days. Thanks. Kind regards, Dancewithdevil (talk) 15:27, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Dancewithdevil, could you clarify how are these rights supposed to help you with your internet problems? --Base (talk) 22:56, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Base, I am using VPN. Dancewithdevil (talk) 23:25, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- The current block on azwiki is concerning for me to consider block exemption. Since Wikipedia doesn't allow anonymizing proxies or VPNs, I advise you to try turning your VPN off to resolve the issue. If there is a reason you require the VPN to access Wikimedia projects, please contact the Stewards on UTRS. Operator873 connect 07:54, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- Operator873, the block has nothing to do with it. The block was unfounded and almost all the admins objected to it, and then the blocker reduced the time. You can look. Actually, I had this right on the local wikipedia for a long time, but it was unfoundedly taken from me. I made a request and my reasons were unfounded and ignored. Understanding was not shown and the right was not given to me. I don't know the reason either. I use VPN because my internet has access restrictions. So I use VPN most of the time and I contribute to more than one Wikipedia project. In short, I need this right in order to continue my contributions. P.S. I have this right on Tr Wikipedia. You can check. Thanks. Dancewithdevil (talk) 10:57, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- Base, Operator873, what should I do now? I already told you the reason. What will you decide? Dancewithdevil (talk) 11:21, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- Base, can you have a look here too? Dancewithdevil (talk) 14:41, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- I am not sure about your case so I would prefer for other people to take a look. --Base (talk) 11:17, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for 不慎言行非法师魔女
- Global user: 不慎言行非法师魔女 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
This is a request on behalf of the user concerned. This user want to add interwiki links to Wikidata but IP is globally blocked (as an open proxy). The user can not edit Meta-Wiki either. Note previous request at Steward_requests/Global_permissions/2020-09#Global_IP_block_exempt_for_慎言慎行老法师. The user is currently blocked in scowiki but can not appeal there either because of the global block.--GZWDer (talk) 16:01, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
- @不慎言行非法师魔女: I grant you IPBE flag on wikidata. If you need to edit other projects, this request could be kept opening. Stang 16:56, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for Cocoream
- Global user: Cocoream (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Greetings!
I'm a user from the Chinese Mainland, and I want to make contributions to the WMF sites. But I have to use a mirror which has been Global-IP-blocked.
I'd like to request for the global-ipblock-exempt
permission, and I sincerely hope the Stewards could add me to the list.
The wikis I'd like to make contributions to are: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, MediaWiki and Meta-Wiki(doing some translations), in both Chinese and English version.
Also, there are two negative points I have to say:
- I'm a Senior High student, so maybe I don't have so much time on the wikis
- My English is not so good(as you can see)
But I still want to request for this premission. If possible, I hope you can give me it.
Thank you very much!--Cocoream (talk) 16:12, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- The negative elements you present have nothing to do with the processing of this request, don't worry. Just my opinion is that if you plan to edit Chinese Wikipedia, getting an IPBE from there first would be more helpful in handling this request. GIPBE cannot exempt blocks there. --Sotiale (talk) 03:06, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Cocoream: for notification. --Sotiale (talk) 14:44, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't see your message until I received the notification email. My school life is too busy recently.
- Thank you for your suggestions! I got it! Cocoream (talk) 07:45, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for DonCamillo
- Global user: DonCamillo (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hello, I have been editing Wikimedia projects since 2005 (mostly Wikipedia and Wiktionary in French as well as Wikipedia in Hausa), and have moved recently to Nigeria, where it seems that a lot of IP ranges allocated to internet providers are blocked as open proxies. It seems to work in a very random way as I am blocked/unblocked many times a day, probably depending on the IP I'm using at the moment. For this reason, would it be possible to get a global IP block exemption? Thanks a lot. --DonCamillo (talk) 10:21, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
