This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

Interface-translations are done at Betawiki.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Confirmation of identity

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to confirm their identity. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also submit the relevant identification to the Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until receipt has been formally confirmed by the office.

Instructions for how you can confirm your identity can be found at: Steward handbook/email templates.

For stewards: Identification noticeboard.

Puntori@sq.wikibooks.org

I request Bureaucrat access.

Thank you. Puntori 09:25, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On hold because the voting started only yesterday and there are only 4 votes so far. --FiLiP ¤ 09:37, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Two voters don't seem to have any other meaningful contributions beside the voting page and some of the others don't seem to be particularly active on the project. Besides, in a community with only two sysops, is a bureaucrat really needed? I'm inclined not to give the rights. --FiLiP ¤ 16:57, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it's needed. And all the voters are active in sq.wikipedia.org and almost all of them are sysops. The idea of asking for bureaucrat is not to "please" you for all the thinks since we can do by our self. I don't realy see why you don't give that access. Otherwise when you ask why you should also ask why not to understand better the sitation. An at the end, if it was not needed I would not make the request, as we did not do it until now. I think those thinks are clear.
P.S. If you don't whant to give that access please write straight, and don't play with uninteresting moves (this is an open comunity I'll discusse and with other stuards about the need). Puntori 23:20, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder why the croatian wikibooks got Bureaucrat when they are in same situation as us!. Are you showing here nationalism? Puntori 07:46, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
hrwikibooks had more valid voters. Maybe we should wait for someone else to give his/her take on this. --FiLiP ¤ 08:11, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hr wikibooks hade editors with just some edits (not more as 10) so it's same situation. Puntori 12:26, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, there are only 4 valid votes since the other two accounts have only been created to vote there. So obviously the community is so small that there is no need to have an own bureaucrat on sq.wikibooks. --Thogo (talk) 09:18, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hm. I would like to hear Dori's opinion about this. If he agrees with your bureaucrat status, I agree, too (and I'll give some more explanation then). --Millosh 09:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why would Dori's opinion matter? This kind of stance just highlights that there are privileged users whose opinions are above those of respective communities. Dori, albeit a very important figure in the sq projects, isn't an uberadmin and his opinion should make decisions go this or that way. --FiLiP ¤ 09:34, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He is a trusting user from sq community. In problematic cases his opinion matters. Generally, I think that bureaucrat access should be given; but I need a verification from a trusting user. --Millosh 09:39, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need for bureaucrats: [1] [2] [3]. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This "drama" is interesting. I can't understand your reaction in case with: Dtom@hrwikibooks request and in our casa. What do you think I'll take that access at home and never give back? Funny. I'm main editor in sq.wikibooks and also with ove 30.000 edits in sq.wikipedia and you still think that I don't know why I am here?
Your act is funny, man will think in this case that whno knows what will happend if the access is given and more funny is tha you select comunities (in case with Dtom@hrwikibooks request and in our case).
Have nice thinking.
P.S. My discussion here for this topic is over since is the question "you like or not" and it's not in question the professional reaction, so if you like give the acces if you dont dont. Simple as that. Puntori 12:24, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like a fairly small community, so I doubt they really need a bureaucrat. It looks likes most of the voters are Wikipedians, but they do seem to have about enough votes and other then the two, none of the votes look suspect. I would lean towards granting him the flag.--Cspurrier 17:02, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. You know, this doesn't really concern me. I don't really care whether you get the right or not. The problem was of more technical nature, but in order to prevent further accusations and flames, I've granted the rights. This means that you should use them wisely. --FiLiP ¤ 23:29, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Do not grant CheckUser access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced here. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information), and make sure they contact an op for access to #wikimedia-checkuser.

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced here. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

If you want to request that your own status be removed, please don't forget to place a note on your local user talk page (preferably with an English translation). This is required to prove your identity. And then add the request here. You should add the difflink of your local confirmation edit to the request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

WonRyong@ko.wikisource

I request removal of access for WonRyong. He/she was granted temporary adminship because there are no active administrator. But,

  • There is an active administrator, 한동성.
  • He/she requested eternal adminship on the local RFA page, KOWS:RFA#User:WonRyong. But, there are too many opposition. Some users mistrust his/her capacity as administrator.
  • He/she creating too many problematic article. [4] So a user requested to stop these at here. But he/she ignored this requests and acts against consensus.
  • Even he/she decided RFA term without no consensus. [5] And he/she started vote for an official name of Korean Wikisource, and he/she said "I'll make final decision after a week.", without consensus and enough considering proposals.

Now, he/she ignoring consensus and all opposition. So, I request to remove administrator access of the user. Ficell 10:05, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that I must go out ko.wikisource.

I, thn No.1 contributor and the almost only one active main article editor at ko.wikisource is so angry about this issue.

All people have not "any contribute" to main articles.

I think that I work together with 한동성(HanDongSung). But, he seemed to think it different.

"He creating too many problematic article. [6]" I angry this comment. It is attack. I find and manke new main articles for many hours. see history.

Ficell is ko.wikipedia sysop. but he did not any main article contributes to ko.wikisource.

I request.

Remove all regular sysop and beurocatat status in ko.wikisource.

Or, remove my temporary sysop status.

I can't work with them together.

Their contributions to main article is zero, and All only attack me.

I am the No.1 contributor and the almost only one active main article editor at ko.wikisource now. See history.

It is sorrow case. They call me, robber, dictator. :(

My will to produce is down by attack. It is sorrow.

Why they don't contribute main article and Why they attack me only?

First, I am really robber, dictator. or, Two, I am the no.1 active korean wikipedian who dislike north korea. I know they all like north korea. It is sorrow.

Inspect main article real contributes at ko.wikipedia

And inspect who like north korea? who dislike north korea?

It is sorrowful realistic status in south korea.

Their number is many.

I must resign the temporary sysop at ko.wikisource?

It seemed to that it is more realistic resolution.

But they will do not contribute anything as like yesterday.

their main purpose is not contribte. monitoring and attack "most active user". It is called "administrated".

I am the no.6 contributor at ko.wikpedia, I thought about it some days ago.

Why they do not contribute main articles? and Why they monitor and attack most active user?

They are north korean supporter? or They are rival company's employee?

Why they monitor(watch) and attack most active user at ko.wikipedia?

But I can't conclude about it.

I think.

Wikimedia foundation must make a korean-american president at South Kroean Wikimedia foundation.

He must dislike north korea. It is very important.

Korean war is not ended. So, "like or dislike north korea" is very very important factor.

NPOV? neutral people? in korea? oops!

Many people attack someone or some organiztion because he dislikes north korea.

Many people attack someone or some organiztion because he likes north korea.

This is korean status.

And I think ko.wikipedia like north korea.

You insist NPOV? Attack! Block! :(

North korean lover's NPOV = North korean detester's NPOV? :(

Remove all other sysop satus or Remove my temporal sysop status. -- WonRyong 16:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WonRyong@ko.wikisource

s:ko:사용자:WonRyong got a temporary sysopship due to the absence of active sysop. Since s:ko:사용자:한동성, who used to be inactive for a while, is informed about this and started contributing again, WonRyong's temporary sysopship may now be removed. WonRyong has confirmed that the removal of admin status is up to the Steward.

[12] - HanDongSeong's contributions at ko.wikisource
[13] - My contributions at ko.wikisource -- WonRyong 14:32, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, so what should be done, can't You both work together? It looks to me that WonRyong does a good job. However, when he asked for temp-access the other user was inactive, so I don't see any reason to revoce the status on that ground. Only if WonRyong confirms himself that he wants his status removed. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 14:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I confirm that I wants my status is not removed. I want that this site is active! :) -- WonRyong 14:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done, please work together on that wiki, You have the same interest so please cooperate, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For your information, WonRyong once has been blocked for a week in ko.wikipedia due to his offense against other users, and blocked again due to his abusing of multiple accounts. Three of them were permanently blocked [14] [15] [16] and one of them was blocked for two weeks. [17] He was also charged with his constant copyright infringement and at least a year of block was suggested, which 17 users of ko.wikipedia supported. [18] Currently, he is creating a lot of pages, including Wikisource namespace ones, which should not be created by a user but through users' discussions. For example he created s:ko:Wikisource:컨센서스 starting with explicit POV, which could be translated as: "Decision should be made by consensus. [...] Actually there is no consensus, only vote exists. From prehistoric age to now, and to future, in every kind of society including communism or democracy, the principle and basis are voting."(모든 사회의 의사결정은 기본적으로 컨센서스에 의해 결정되는 것이 원칙입니다. [...] 실질적으로는, 컨센서스는 없으며, 투표만이 존재합니다. 역시, 원시시대 부터 지금까지, 미래에도, 공산주의건 민주주의건 어떤 공동체에서도, 그 원칙과 기본은 투표입니다.) Also, still I really don't see any reason to keep his temporary admin status while there's neither ko.wikisource users' consensus for his admin status nor other admin's absence anymore. --HanDongSeong 06:11, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was contacted by a Korean user yesterday who explained the situation to me differently, he had no concerns regarding WonRyong. I don't see how creating Wikisource-namespace pages has anything to do with having a sysop flag. Being banned on another project is not necessarily a reason not to be sysop on another project. The temporary sysopship is granted to users on projects with no or very small communities. The request made below looks valid to me, also I still don't see a reason to remove the flag granted by a valid request, even if an user returns after one year inactivity one or two days afterwards. I will however ask other stewards to review this issue.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:29, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would also decline the request with the same rationale. --Thogo (talk) 10:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation. If you are requesting adminship to handle one-time vandalism incidents or clearing a deletion backlog, please see Vandalism reports and Multilingual speedy deletions.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the list of sysops and bureaucrats, local request link, link to your local user page, and the preferred duration with a reason. Hi. I'm Alison, aka w:en:User:Alison, sysop from gawiki and gawikti. There is currently no sysop over on gdwikti yet there's still a lot of work to do. Similar to gawikti which was dormant last year, I would dearly love to restart this wiktionary as a Scots Gaelic Wiktionary would be an immense asset to native speakers. There is still quite a lot of ongoing vandalism and cruft over there, especially over the last few weeks. Also, I've been updating Mediawiki over there before moving things to Betawiki when I've had them reviewed.

Note that I've already been temporary sysop there three times previously, the last having expired yesterday. Thanks, all :) - Alison 00:53, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I request sysop access for only 2 to 3 days. I just need to fix a coding error at MediaWiki:Common.css and Monobook and their js counterparts. This is since since the very begginning collapsible navbars don't work at that wiki. I've already reported it to the only sysop their the problem, but since he's semi-active progress is slow. I plan just to copy paste the code from en. No active users in their except for vandals. This is just for the skae of getting it done fast. And also take note, if you're worried that I'm a vandal, I am a sysop of the Tagalog Wikipedia and Wikibooks. Thank you. -- Felipe Aira 12:34, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Import permission for DragonBot@ml.wikipedia

I request import access to w:ml:User:DragonBot based on community consensus.

I now have temporary Import rights on ml.wikipedia. Once import rights are assigned to bot, you may remove existing temporary import rights now assigned to ml:w:User:Jacob.jose. Thanks !! --Jacob 18:11, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Importer for Skizzerz@mediawiki

I'd like to be an importer at mediawiki.org, as there is a whole slew of great documentation that is not on MediaWiki wiki, and as such it cannot be ported over there easily while maintaining the terms of the GFDL. If I had the import right, I would be able to Export the documentation pages that really stand out as being good from those wikis (if they have a compatible license) and Import them on MediaWiki by file upload. I hope you consider my request and if you have any additional questions feel free to ask me :) (also, I know that because I am already a sysop there I can transwiki from Meta, but this is a request for the "importupload" permission so that I may import documentation from elsewhere). --Skizzerz (talk) 20:28, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Skizzerz is a trusted user from wikia:. Cbrown1023 talk 22:07, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
