Per a discussion on the English Wikipedia (which can be found here), there was advice to post this history merge request here. Since this history merge request involves the main page on the English Wikipedia, a page that cannot be deleted by administrators (which is required for history merges), this task has to be left up to a steward. I recently found a redirect on the English Wikipedia called en:Wikipedia:Main Page/CSS, a redirect which I discovered back in 2004 was essentially a cut-and-paste move from the main page (it was essentially a sandbox of the main page which eventually became live). I verified if some history should be merged into Main Page, and it looks as though it should. From what I saw, the edits on en:Wikipedia:Main Page/CSS that should be merged into the history of en:Main Page are the edits from 14:24 23 November 2004 (UTC) to 21:15 25 November 2004 (UTC). :I'm a participant in the "here" discussion. I'd appreciate it if no merge be done at the moment: momentarily deleting the en:wp main page is a big enough deal that it ought not be done unless we have local consensus first. I'll start a discussion at :en:Talk:Main Page. Nyttend (talk) 20:58, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

This page is for requesting that a specific administrative action (such as page deletion) be performed by a steward or global sysop on a Wikimedia wiki having no active administrators. (If the wiki does have active administrators, file the request with one of them.) If the wiki has an active editor community, any potentially controversial action (deletion of actual content, edit to a protected page, renaming of a protected page, etc.) should receive consensus from the wiki community before being requested here, and a link should be provided to that consensus in the request.

To add a new request, create a new section header at the bottom of the page (just above the categories) of the form:

Very brief description of request here
Then describe your request more fully below that. It is helpful if you can provide a link to the wiki (or the specific page on the wiki) in question, either in the header or in the body of your request.

To report vandalism issues, please use Vandalism reports instead.

Bot-reported speedy deletion requests

This section is for reports filed via Kimberley-nia Bot on the SWMT's IRC channel #cvn-sw (bot's irc nick is Dellieplagiat). They are submitted on this subpage. Please watch this page separately if you are a steward, a global sysop, or a local administrator.

It is possible to manually edit this list if you follow the bot's formatting. If you feel a request is inappropriate, please remove the lines containing that request entirely. (Leaving comments, modifying the header line, and striking out reports will confuse the bot.)

Example for the correct formatting:

* ie.wikipedia
*: spam - IRC user DerHexer ~~~~~

Properly-filed requests that point to pages that have already been deleted or do not exist will be automatically removed by the bot. Note: It is unnecessary to remove requests for wikis where local admins "can handle it by themselves". If that is really so, the pages will surely be deleted within a small period of time and then be automatically removed from the list by the bot.

la.wiktionary.org, deletion request

Status:    Done

It seems that la.wt has no active administrator. Thus I'm asking here: Could anyone please delete the stuff listed at wikt:la:Categoria:Delenda?
Reasons:

  • "Disputatio Usoris:Tijedug", "Helpful Tips For Buying Hand Mixer- An Evaluation" - that's spam
  • "Brunus galitias" - no entry for wiktionary, might even be spam
  • "cracia", "S. R. I" - no entry/typo
  • "Formula:[...]" (Template:[...]) - They are not in used, got replaced by other templates and are not needed. One could argue, that the templates could stay as redirects, but: 1. Other templates don't have a redirect version, too. 2. Having those templates as redirects might confuse (new) editors.
    • New templates are usually like from "Formula:B[...]" to "Formula:b[...]" (changing the capital letter at the beginning to a small letter). "Formula:wikipedia" already existed as "Formula:vicipaedia".
  • "明後日の晩" & "明後日の朝" - can't judge that...

pt.wy revertion request

  • Status:    Not done

Could pleas revert that: [1]. I don't know how to handle, every time that I try to put some content in wy-pt the only sysop there (for political meters) remove content, and thread me, as you can see, he simply remove content, and changed one map, by the old one that is impossible to read not even justifying, and there's no rule about the type of map... he normally do that [2], [3] (in this case, I checked all establishments and removed the non existing), [4] he deleted most of that, and the part used, no credit was giving... I could give more, but you already can see work going to the sewer, could you pleas revert? Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton (talk) 05:19, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify, none of this reversions are base in existing rules, or he created after with no discussion. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton (talk) 05:43, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not done. It's not up to us to enforce local wiki matters. Please discuss it through appropiate channels, such as the user's talk page. With kind regards, Savhñ 09:05, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rename editinterface global group

Status:    Done

Please rename 'editinterface' global group to 'interface-editor' group. See phab:T85731. (I would prefer it if it was changed to 'global-interface-editor' so that there could be separate translations for both local and global groups but there is no one else who agrees with it on IRC).--Glaisher (talk) 16:59, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Oppose the requested ('interface-editor') name as too narrow-scoped (I'd Support Support 'technician' or admin-tech or something of that nature), but Support Support the idea of making them consistent and Support Support there being a 'global-' version of whatever the final consensus for a name is per Glaisher. Please see the Phabricator ticket for discussion about this. Technical 13 (etc) 17:48, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand how 'interface-editor' is too narrow-scoped for a global group which is only given out for people needing to edit the interface? John F. Lewis (talk) 17:59, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Per Interface_editors#Rights these editors get the userrights of [ 'autoconfirmed', 'edit', 'editinterface', 'editprotected', ' editsemiprotected', 'editusercss', 'editusercssjs', 'edituserjs', 'protect', 'suppressredirect', 'tboverride', 'templateeditor' ]. So, they not only can edit interface messages, they can edit all protected pages. They can edit protected templates and modules, they can edit user js and css, they can edit interface messages, they can edit fully protected content or change the protection levels of any of those pages. So, the global group laid out here should be named something of the nature of 'global-technician', 'global-admin-tech', or 'global-protected-editor', and the lesser versions of it on the other wikis should be 'technician', 'admin-tech', or 'protected-editor'. Technical 13 (etc) 18:09, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
They may have the rights but it doesn't mean it falls under the scope. The group's scope if for editing interface messages, thus the group should be named so. John F. Lewis (talk) 18:14, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • If the rights assigned to the group aren't in scope for the group, they should be removed. If the goal is to have a group that can only edit interface messages, a Phab ticket should be submitted to create a new userright that can override protections and only edit interface messages and that should be added to a group named 'interface_editor'. Technical 13 (etc) 18:17, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Can you please clarify if all local groups are now called interface-editor already and that there is a translation on TWN for it? The last commit mentioned in the bug seems not to be implemented yet. --MF-W 19:00, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • It hasn't been merged yet and the interface messages hasn't also been updated yet. Nemo_bis has suggested in the task that a steward could do the adding/removing of users to the local groups. Are stewards willing to do that? (would make things a lot easier). --Glaisher (talk) 04:23, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "grouppage-interface-editor" would be ":Interface editors" so this would break links to the global group. This could be resolved by using what I originally suggested; two different names for both local and global groups. --Glaisher (talk) 04:37, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Isn't there a script which developers can run when renaming a group? (a local group of course; as global group renaming is part of the CentralAuth interface) --MF-W 16:35, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, this can be done now. i18n has been deployed to 1.25wmf17 & 1.25wmf18. Note that the global group should be renamed to 'global-interface-editor' (not what was in the original post; changed per discussion at gerrit). --Glaisher (talk) 16:55, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done as per bug request and discussion. —DerHexer (Talk) 16:59, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There have been a number of files tagged for speedy deletion on this wiki since February 2012 (not exactly "speedy" deletion). They should either be deleted, or if not suitable for deletion, un-tagged. There are also 12 empty categories and 7 other pages to be checked and potentially deleted.

As part of gerrit:190642 it is planned to introduce additional interwiki prefixes on some sites. This is an uncontroversial change that will however require the deletion of a small number of pages, as listed on the comments of the Gerrit change.

When I tried to post the following on my ak.wikipedia.org talk page

I prefer that messages be posted to [ https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/User_talk:Guy_Macon ] instead of here...

It refused the edit with the following message:

This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: New users adding external links on their user talk page

I suspect a misconfigured edit filter. Needless to say, secure.wikimedia.org is not a harmful site. --Guy Macon (talk) 01:51, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the filters there. You should now be able to add that to your talk page. I wonder whether we should disable it now and let the global filters handle spam there since it is a very general one and there doesn't appear to be high levels of spam activity at akwiki now. --Glaisher (talk)

Request for history merge of en:Main Page
