This is the IP address of my AWS EC2 instance. I use this server as the endpoint of a SOCKS5-over-SSH tunnel to encrypt network traffic when using public wifi networks It is an AWS elastic IP assigned to my account, but is being caught up in the general AWS block: "Cross-wiki spam: Amazon Web Services - Service has been used for trojan/spam attacks - Little or no good edits." Trigger: OTRS 2012120310012749. Further investigation:

• Reason for global block: only one IP 84.25.68.107 global-contribs ^(old) • xwiki blocks • IP lookup • WHOIS • robtex • gblock • glist • abuselog • bullseye • IP info • lwcheckuser
• Properties of range: In use by large ISP in NL for customer internet connections. Range is semi-static (though RevDNS wrongly may suggest it's dynamic). The x.x.x.107 appears in my proxy database, added 23-11-2012 as a webproxy. Further digging in my database learned me that this IP is still a webproxy, most likely run by a private person.
• To globally block an entire /16 range for this, imho is a bit over the top. - RonaldB (talk) 23:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

This IP address is not an open proxy. It belongs to the paid VPN service Private Internet Access. I use this VPN regularly on public wifi networks to encrypt my network traffic. --Stephen Gilbert (talk) 03:52, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Be sure to follow the instructions below:

• Your request might be rejected if it doesn't include the necessary information.
• Warning! This page is publicly viewable. If the account name is grossly insulting or contains personal information please contact a steward privately in #wikimedia-stewards^connect or email your request to the stewards VRT queue at stewards-oversightwikimediaorg (direct wiki interface) but do not post it here. Thanks.
• Warning! This is not the place to ask for locks based on your opinion that someone is disruptive. Global locks are used exclusively against vandalism and spam, not because of content disputes, not because you think that someone deserves to be globally blocked. In such cases, you should ask for local blocks at appropriate places.
• If you are globally locked, you should appeal your lock to stewards-appealswikimediaorg.

Please describe abusive activity of an account before reporting them here. Since stewards are often not active at projects the reported accounts are, things that seem obvious to you may not be equally obvious to the reviewing steward.

I primarily edit on EN:WP, and have encountered global blocks when I edit though Amazon's Web service. I asked an admin on ENWP (privately) to unblock me from ENWP, but he said that I should ask a steward. I rarely edit cross-wiki from Amazon's service, but I may do so if the need arises. - BilCat (talk) 03:19, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm no steward, but I suggest you consider requesting Global IP block exemption on SRGP. Technical note: you're asking for a global unblock, not a global unlock: locks are for accounts, global blocks are for IPs. πr² (t • c) 03:23, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Global lock for Translation Notification Bot

Status:    Done

• Some changes in the job queue, unrelated to the Translation Notification extension, broke it: bugzilla:42715. Translation administrators shouldn't use the feature before the bug is fixed, but a temporary lock may help: it won't stop emails, but perhaps it will stop edits on other wikis. (No dev is working on fixing the job queue, so we need a workaround.) Thanks, Nemo 10:20, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
