Steward requests/Global permissions

This is an archived version of this page, as edited by Krd (talk | contribs) at 14:25, 25 June 2021 (requesting removal of global VRT permissions agents flag for Fastily). It may differ significantly from the current version.

This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global sysops policy.
Stewards
When you give someone global sysop rights, please list them on Users with global sysop access and ask them to subscribe to the global sysops mailing list.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account ;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;

 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Requests for global rename permissions

Global rename for شيماء

Not ending before 8 July 2021 08:28 UTC

Hello, I am an editor and administrator in the Arabic Wikipedia. Arabic Wikipedia suffers from a lack in global renamers, and currently we have 4 renamers and one of them is not active. I think that I will be able to help in this field, for I am interested in it, available on a daily basis, and active in the encyclopedia (my focus will only be on changing names in Arabic Wikipedia). I also read International Global Renamers Policy, and read about Official Permission Page. Regards.--شيماء (talk) 08:28, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for LanmeiCN

I am from China, and all Wikimedia Foundation sites are blocked in my area, so I need to use a proxy to change an IP that can access the Wikimedia Foundation site, but the IP I changed is already on the Wikimedia Foundation site Banned in. I need to edit more Wikipedias besides Chinese Wikipedia, and I have asked in the official telegram group of Chinese Wikipedia that my IP is globally banned. I have read "Global IP block exemption" in detail. Please grant me it, thanks, --LanmeiCN (talk) 11:03, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment This is not meant to be an oppose, but the fact this user requests several global rights at once gives me a pause. It reminds me of an essay I read in the past. Martin Urbanec (talk) 11:23, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Comment Hello, Martin Urbanec, due to blocking the use of the proxy, I finally found an IP that was not blocked by the Wikimedia Foundation at random, so I had to apply for it together. -LanmeiCN (talk) 13:14, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2FA Tester for LanmeiCN

I need to improve the security of my users, because I have seen too many stolen accounts on Chinese Wikipedia. I think I have enough two-factor authentication authority, thanks, --LanmeiCN (talk) 11:16, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Have you read 2FA? Ruslik (talk) 20:52, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Comment The user has withdrawn (see history). Stewards may want to set the appropriate flag. Leaderboard (talk) 10:40, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Captcha-exempt for LanmeiCN

Since I use a proxy and use IP ban exemption for editing, Captcha verification codes often appear, but I need more work efficiency. Please grant me it, thanks, --LanmeiCN (talk) 11:11, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Oppose Captcha exempt is reserved only for limited number of cases, as normally it is never needed. All accounts that are "old enough" are granted (local) captcha exempt permission, where definition of "old enough" waries by wiki (at most wikis, it's older than 4 days; some wikis also require minimum number of edits; see Meta:Autoconfirmed users). It doesn't look like you're crosswiki active enough to justify granting this right at all wikis. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 11:21, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have to Oppose Oppose this as well unfortunately; normally see this given only for unusual cases. There's an extension around that will allow you to create accounts at all wikis, with most of them being autoconfirmed after 4 days. Leaderboard (talk) 22:06, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Comment The user has withdrawn (see history). Stewards may want to set the appropriate flag. Leaderboard (talk) 10:40, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
where does it say they've withdrawn? SHB2000 (talk | contibs | en.wikivoyage | w:User:SHB2000) 02:10, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
