Administration of Khmer-wiki pages

A kind member of mediawiki guided my person here to possible solve a current problem on the pages, since it seems that there is no one "in charge" or actively administrating. Since there are a lot of huge copyright violations and misuse of wikipedia general objectives (of coures merely because not knowing and not informed), my person was trying in many ways to find someone to "act proper". So the request, or better remark here might be manifold, but might be summarized in two main issues:

 1. How to get current copyright violating content removed (personal aware: about 50 books, 20.000 print pages on a huge No. of pages)?
 2. How to get the Khmer-wiki pages so maintained that they are not just source of many people harming content.

The secound, of course, out of experiances, would not be able to grow into a good, or better direction, without a lot of outwardly support and encouragement.

And generally remark (request), if there actually is such:

 1. How to identify and contact a possible active admin?

Thanks a lot ("representative" for those who benefit from you care) in advanced. សមណៈយុហាន់--សមណៈយុហាន់ (talk) 14:23, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

The local kmwiki administrators are listed here, this includes 2 bureaucrats that appear to be inactive for 2 years. Is there an active group of editors that could recommend new bureaucrats/admins? — xaosflux Talk 15:00, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
As far as looked around, not even new member pages are asigned. There might be groups, for sure in political an news areas, but it would be difficult just in a way of "hey, I am here", if understanding what is meant with it. Another cultur, new media, and a look of confusion, since wiki, from it's ideals gpes actually against anicent ways, yet there is a huge hole that can misused "terrible". --សមណៈយុហាន់ (talk) 16:58, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
If there are active users, one or several of them can of course become admins. See SRP. Other than that, you can put requests for administrative actions on SRM. --MF-W 16:13, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
Sadhu for taking on certain care and thanks representative for tjose helped with it. My person, out of experiance, knowing kind and live circumstances as well as common skills and knowledhe in regard of rules, does not think that it might be easy to find under nativ speaker. One either needs to be such as a very selfless person, aside of the skills, or gain things with it (which is actually the probably reason of most actives, at least, if not mayerial, politic, and it becomes a burdenfull election time, as far as heared as well) My person does not look into any content there. It would be really needed to give there independend support or simply froze or close this wiki, since very inresponsible and possible harmful for many if having not such as an authority in a sphere where people are not able to act proper. Yet at the same time, not misusing it for own interests... Please, if possible, forward the issue upwards and possible encourage for help to but much into education (there would be not really a way aside of paying higher skilled people here, even then, success can not be promised).--សមណៈយុហាន់ (talk) 16:50, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
"you can put requests for administrative action", actually, even this here is on the limit. Living the live of a Monk, it's not really proper to get engaged into issuse of normal society and private spheres. Althought knowing a few a little, my person would also not do the best in recommending such a work. Such can be only done by a legitime authority, which, if one likes to care about, needs to be installed and accepted. And it is more over not a good time at all and it can be expected that it's misuse, out of this or that objectives, will increase. One needs to be willing to sacrify really a lot, and not a little garanty that any benefit can be obtained. So something like wiki in the west but 1000 times more, you might know what is meant, with about 5%of the possibilities to transport ways of solve that they could be understood.
no actions, reactions so far, neither here, here: or on series of direct adressing "admins" or active members. As told: nobody cares. - សមណៈយុហាន់ (talk) 15:02, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Importing a talk page

Hi, I would ask for help with importing an Italian Wikiversity village pump talk from v:it:WV:Bar/Archivio/Servizi interprogetto into Talk:Italian Minor Projects' Wikimedia User Group/Servizi interprogetto, so I don't have to copy and paste the page history. I run the local village pump archives, so I feel I understand what I'm suggesting here. Of course all related links will be updated and the contents of the original talk page will be kept locally for archive purposes. --pegasovagante () 07:31, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

X mark.svg Not done @Pegasovagante: just copy and paste the relevant page history to a linked subpage of the new talk page and possibly use a note on the page with an interwiki link to the other project's page. Need help of uninvolved admin

Hello, please see User_talk:Stryn#Hello. Abuse of tools by Vituzzu

Today Vituzzu deleted user talk pages I created purely to welcome users with the message "13:20, 30 January 2018 Vituzzu (talk | contribs) deleted page User talk:Septembermorgen (better avoiding users on probation to welcome newcomers)", this is against policy as there is no policy that states that "users on probation" aren't allowed to welcome new users on Meta, nor is there an actual "probation" which just seems something that this user made up. Further this user keeps leaving harassing messages on the my talk page like this and this deliberately not starting a new topic. There is no policy that stares that my signature is against policy or that I am not allowed to welcome new users, if a non-admin would've behaved like this they would've been warned but for some reason this user is allowed this form of harassment without consequences. --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (My global lock 🔒) (My global unlock 🔓) 13:45, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Also I would like to request an undeletion of those pages which were deleted outside policy, and not a single user other than this steward complained about these welcome messages. --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (My global lock 🔒) (My global unlock 🔓) 13:50, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

I still disagree with your unlock because it was giving upon pure and sole insistence, with no significant conditions in terms of avoiding the mess/abuses which brought you to lock. It was a controversial which brought (and will bring) to discussions among stewards. Since then your started spamming smartphones and non-accessible emojis anywhere, ignoring any warning, I had two ways to stop your from doing this: blocking you or setting up an abusefilter, I tried the "less harsh" solution, again I think it was a mistake, this time a mistake of mine. Then you ignored any complain about your linkspam of your global lock and unlock, simply stating they are "an example". Welcoming users implies a significant responsibility towards newcomers. Speaking frankly, someone still close to be blocked and considering "doing lots of mess and mailbombing stewards to get unlocked" an example...well can hardly be a point of reference for newcomers.--Vituzzu (talk) 14:26, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
And I disagree with the fact that you should have access to your tools if you choose to abuse them in the ways you do, and not at one point did I welcome a user is a disrespectful tone or anything that would warrent deletion. I welcomed users so they're familiar wirh Meta's scope and so they're familiar wirh where they have to be with what requests, if you're against against a user welcoming others then you should reach consensus to create a policy who is and isn't allowed to do this, not play judge, jury, and executioner in this respect. Your actions cannot be described as anything other than bad faith and making up terms such as "probation" as you go is a form of abuse. --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (My global lock 🔒) (My global unlock 🔓) 14:41, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
If you'd agree with my "sanctions" there wouldn't be any need for them. You just need to grow in terms of maturity, time will eventually help you.
--Vituzzu (talk) 14:52, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
@Donald Trung: I also don't think is a good idea to welcome all the newcomers, some of the users can be a vandal or spammer, see this good example on the statement. SA 13 Bro (talk) 15:38, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
There is no sysop abuse by Vituzzu here. The only abusive behaviour is coming from Donald Trung, who has been given an exceptional amount of rope because most of his actions here are criticizing stewards and admins, and we're all very concerned about the image it would send if he were blocked. But the number of useful contributions to Meta is rapidly declining from Donald, and I would suggest a local indefinite block if he continues with his style of evidenceless claims of abuse and a complete misunderstanding of our policies. – Ajraddatz (talk) 00:28, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
So I am not allowed to criticise steward actions? If I am breaking any Meta policies then I would like to be directed to them so I can adjust my behaviour and welcoming new users is something I only do to spread awareness of policies. What Vituzzu does here by constantly stating that I shouldn't have been unlocked is not exactly mature to do and why are personal attacks allowed from this user? And how is my signature abusive? Again, there are vague claims being made about me being disruptive with (1) no warnings based on actual policy, just threats based on personal preferences (such as disliking my usage of emoji's), and (2) only threats of infinite blocks. And as for the users I welcomed those are all established users with no welcome pages and maybe it would be more motivational for some users if the first message they receive on a wiki is a welcome and not a warning so they won't think bad of Meta, and might even want to spend more time here. And I literally only come here to Meta if there's something interesting such as Community Survey Wish list. And what policies am I misunderstanding? --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (My global lock 🔒) (My global unlock 🔓) 11:08, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
In regards to your meta: signature, we don't have very strict policies on as many things as huge projects (like Wikipedia's) do, as the meta: community is much smaller. What I can tell you about your signature: all you are indicating with it to me is "I'm someone that causes trouble". People that care know how to find your logs, and how you behave in the future speaks much louder than anything in the past. — xaosflux Talk 14:48, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
As Xaosflux says, as a small community, we don't have policies written for every situation. So we can know that your signature is disruptive, or that your back-handed approach to criticizing specific actions is disruptive (such as you do here), without an explicit sentence in a policy to tell us that. You can adjust your behaviour by changing your signature and manner of participation here. Direct specific concerns to specific stewards, and general concerns to the appropriate forums. – Ajraddatz (talk) 15:53, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
I agree. The only stuff I see from Donald Trung is whining about that he used to be blocked (or locked). --MF-W 14:34, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
No sysop abuse. Additionally i gree with Ajr, MF-W, etc. @Donald Trung: Please remove the "lock" stuff from your signature, it is disruptive a misuse of signatures. Please don't play the system by claiming it is not explicit written in a policy. --Steinsplitter (talk) 16:04, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
I was in favor of unlocking your account under the conditions you presented at that time. However it goes without saying that the stuff you have been adding to your signature has no purpose other than criticize those who were involved in that action. Unfortunately Meta as any other small community does not have a specific guideline for signatures, but I can think of a dozen projects where you wouldn't be allowed to use this stuff on a daily basis (per policy). Please remove it asap. RadiX 00:18, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
He still continues with using the signature, i think we should block him here at meta. --Steinsplitter (talk) 11:49, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

What's wrong with my old signature? --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) 11:59, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

Now that I've changed my signature can I welcome new users again? If not why not? Also note that I have just seen this conversation and have changed my signature after reading it. What is an acceptable signature as it only contained the links to give hope to users who are currently locked that there is a way out, I don't see how anyone would experience that as "disruptive? Let alone "insulting". --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) 12:01, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
Would "(Articles 📚)" be an acceptable addition, and if not why not? --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) 12:03, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
@Donald Trung: I don't see: --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (Articles 📚 as "disruptive". Personally, I would suggest you make a page here on meta: for articles you would want to show case and use that link instead of an interwiki link, so that people following it don't get led to a site in a language they do not speak. — xaosflux Talk 14:23, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
It's easier to update one page than to have one on every project I'm active, plus I'm only here once in a blue moon and other users have interwiki links too, and the list is simply a collection of links and not an essay or something in Dutch. --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) 14:28, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
@Donald Trung: I understand, like I said that was just a personal suggestion for how I might do it, simply having the nlwiki link as a clearly additional link seems OK. — xaosflux Talk 14:30, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
@Donald Trung: As in my opinion, it is the best option to link your contributions on the articles work at your user page. You still can welcome the new users, but must use the common sense, some of the newcomers can be a vandal or spammer, and shouldn't give them the welcome guides. SA 13 Bro (talk) 15:29, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
I always check where they've contributed first and what they did before welcoming I don't welcome the aforementioned users. --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) 16:53, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
@Donald Trung: Fine. But IMO, it is the best option to link your contributions on the articles work at your user page, instead. SA 13 Bro (talk) 17:10, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
Is this an acceptable signature? --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (Articles 📚) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) 22:18, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
I don't think it is. Users should not be taken to a separate wiki from a link in your signature, and users should have a reasonable expectation that the links in your signature are related to the wiki in which they are found. Nihlus 23:01, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
Meta is a cross-wiki collaboration project, not too different from Wikimedia Commons, and the link to refer articles I created is cross-wiki so within the scope of this project, there is no cross-wiki WikiProject Numismatics so the one in Commons is the only multilingual one as our most prominent member is also the founder of the one on Italian Wikipedia and we have a user that's an expert in the subject in the Mandarin speaking wiki's, so this project is the closest we have to multilingual numismatic collaboration. I don't see how either link is outside of scope, and people link to the English Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons here all free time. --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (Articles 📚) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) 08:21, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
That's not bad, though you should add a : at the beginning of these interwikis for sure. Btw did you ever tried to figure out how can be emojis read by people with visual impairment?--Vituzzu (talk) 13:59, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Help for translating a template

Hello! I wanted to add some translations into Template:Done as for Template:Already done. However, Ruslik0 added a new parameter, and so I am not sure how to do it. In addition, Ruslik0 informed me that Autotranslate should be used but I do not know how to use it. So could you apply it on Done so that I can mimic it for the other similar templates? The French translation is "Fait". Pamputt (talk) 09:42, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

I think this template doesn't need for the translations, just simply use the code Fait as Yes check.svg Fait, and Déjà fait as Black check.svg Déjà fait in French language usage. SA 13 Bro (talk) 16:56, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
Not sure this is a real solution. What I think is better is to translate these templates in order the text appear in the language of the reader whatever the language is (and if the translation already exists). Pamputt (talk) 16:03, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
