This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback, global sysop, global rename, …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).
Please note that Global rollbackers discussions are not votes. Comments must present specific points in favor of or against a user's approval.
Instructions for making a request
Before requesting, make sure that:
You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
|status = <!-- don't change this line -->
|domain = global <!-- don't change this line -->
|user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions, no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.
When you give someone global rename rights, please add them to the list of global renamers and ask them to subscribe to the global renamers' mailing list.

=== Global rename for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===

:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.
Hello everyone, I withdrew my previous request 80 days ago to gain more experience and make improvements. Now, I am reapplying for the global rename rights. I would like to assist with requests from English and Indic wikis as well as Meta. I am well-informed about the global and local username rename policies and assure you that I will use this tool responsibly. I hope to have your support for this request. Thank you! – DreamRimmer (talk) 15:48, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Question: What kind of rename experience do you have? I'm still not seeing any particular experience in the area, and while I'm not opposed because of a lack of current admin rights, I'm not sure I see any demonstrated need here for global renamer rights. I've looked through rename pages on your top projects (which is enwiki and meta? hiwiki doesn't seem to have a dedicated rename page unless I'm not seeing it) and you have zero contributions to en:Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple or en:Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. EggRoll97 (talk) 18:14, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In terms of rename experience, I am not currently a renamer, and I haven't processed any requests yet. However, I possess knowledge about usernames and the rename process. For instance, I understand what kinds of usernames are acceptable and what kinds are not. While Hiwiki doesn't have a dedicated venue for renames, I am willing to assist with any Indic requests in the queue. – DreamRimmer (talk) 00:57, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Weak support I'm convinced you probably know what you're doing, and you do have both cross-wiki experience and specific experience at UAA, but Simple and Usurpations do have clerking instructions, and I can't strengthen the support any more without at least some experience in those areas. Given that global renamer isn't exactly wiki-breaking stuff here, I don't see a need to be a sysop to have it. Helps, but probably shouldn't be necessary. EggRoll97 (talk) 03:21, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support I do think it is a benefit for global renamers to be sysop on a wiki, but, the answers to the questions were reasonable and the user has enough experience IMO. EPIC (talk)10:16, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support With some UAA experience and "observance from rename logs" as they mentioned, I think they'll probably end up doing fine. --94rainTalk02:27, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I'm Ingenuity, an administrator on enwiki, and I'd like to request this permission mainly to deal with unblock requests (though I may assist with the general queue as well). Our unblock backlog has been growing for a while now, and many of the requests require a rename to handle. I have a good understanding of both the global rename policy as well as enwiki's local username policy. Thanks, Ingenuity (talk) 16:07, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support They're making a good admin on en and intending to work on backlogs involving renaming so I'm sure they'd make a good global renamer. --Ferien (talk) 16:09, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support Haven't seen them before (likely because I'm rarely at enwiki) but clearly experienced on their home wiki, and a valid use case. EPIC (talk)16:13, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewardswikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.
If you want to edit the Chinese Wikipedia, usually global IP block exemptions will not help you. Please see this instruction to request a local IP block exemption.

The request will be approved if there is demonstrated need for the permission, such as bypassing a global block from someone who is not the intended target.
Hello, I have recently had to use VPN and Proxy to contribute because the internet connection where I live is inherently poor and often intermittent. Because of using VPN, many times when I access projects I cannot edit them (Except for Vietnamese Wikipedia). I wish I was granted this permission so that I can contribute to many global projects of the organization. Thank you! --Meiko10:04, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We would need more details and it would likely involve us needing to speak about details you would not want public. Either a UTRS request or an email would be appropriate. -- Amanda (she/her)15:54, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm located in the UK. I use a VPN and therefore can not edit. I'm asking for an exemption for the following reasons. The reason I use a VPN is due to British Legislation - [Powers Act 2016] which is now coming into effect. As the Wiki page shows, the legislation forces British ISP's to record and store for 1 year, all internet traffic metadata. The data is in practice easily accessible by a vast range of British organisations from National Crime Agency to the Welsh Ambulance service. An effective loophole means the data recording rules don't apply to VPNs. I have personal reasons for not having my wiki editing to to be recorded. I also do not trust my ISP to securely store this data. I'm am happy to explain the personal reasons if they are not recorded here.
All previous data I have added is linked to contributions to OpenStreetMap, and OpenStreetMaps use of wikidata and commons for extra info links. My account on OpenStreetMap is JassKurn , thanks, --Jasskurn (talk) 16:16, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
