*:Well, @BRPever, I'm going to fix those errors about invalid DOIs, ISBNs and malformed archive links. For example, some of templates has erroneous DOIs which cannot point to original journals. While I don’t read some languages, it’s still possible to find the original document itself and update its DOI inside templates (as one citation often contains ID in multiple systems, say, when DOI is invalid, its correct ISBN/OCLC is very likely to be available). These tasks don’t really involve languages itself. -- U.T. 11:01, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request

|user name =  <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::Not ending before  UTC

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Global rename for Kadı

Not ending before 10 December 2022 16:34 UTC

Hello, I am Kadı. I serve as an administrator on Commons and TrWikivoyage. Also, I am working cross-wiki, I know and read the policies, so I want to help global renamers. Sincerely,--Kadı Message 16:34, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@MdsShakil:, I am planning to evaluate renaming requests. Also, I will be active here. --Kadı Message 17:19, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Kadı: Sorry? Didn't get what you mean with that. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 08:35, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@1997kB, [1] Kadı Message 09:00, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose I can support you in any Turkish projects, as I did before, but I can't support you in global ones. As pointed out by @1997kB, I'd like to clarify his last block which is completely tragic. One of the Turkish Wikipedia administrators was concerned about Kadı's potential COI edits and contacted him privately, explaining that there are a few concerns based on Wikipedia's basic policies—such as NPOV—on articles written by Kadı, in absolute good faith. However, Kadı claimed that the administrator violated the child protection policy. After the VRT review and their decision, there has been no proof that his claim is valid, and he was blocked for six months for harassment. This happened in January 2022.
I don't want to see the same tragic case again, and I am sure I will not, but I share 1997kB's concerns. I cannot support this nomination. --Victor Trevor (talk) 12:44, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'll give the same answer to you which I have given to 1997kB in my previous reply. I am volunteering to serve for community, I will not criticise your vote but I want to see new examples after the block. Blocks are not criminal records of users, administrators are not judges, Wikimedia projects are not palace of justice. I wrote these in order to explain myself better, I know your good faith @Victor Trevor, and I do not have any problem with your opposing vote, my aim is not changing your ideas etc. Thanks, Kadı Message 13:20, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Support --Can (talk) 13:28, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • In addition to the concerns raised by others given your block history on the Turkish Wikipedia, it seems (from machine translation at least) that you had engaged in sockpuppeting in the past (i.e, using multiple accounts against the policy). You'll need to explain this. Also, justifying alleged harassment by essentially saying that everyone makes mistakes is not the way to go. Leaderboard (talk) 17:04, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Leaderboard, I am not saying my attitude is correct, you can ask questions about sockpuppetry, I will answer them. Best, Kadı Message 17:21, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Kadı: Then answer my questions (to reiterate, I have asked you to explain your sockpuppetry history, amongst others). Leaderboard (talk) 19:59, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Leaderboard, Well, two years ago, I joined WP for creating my grand-dad’s article, (Kamil Tolon) he was notable but an Afd process started for the article. Then, I created accounts and voted in Afd. I was a newbie so I do not know anything about sockpuppetry. After that, administrators blocked me indefinitely. Then, I apologized and they unblocked me. That’s all about sockpuppetry. If you have question marks after this reply, please feel free to ask me again. Kadı Message 20:16, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2FA Tester for Overlasting Peace

I occasionally welcome new users to the English Wikipedia, giving me exposure to a number of users/accounts at once, and I just want to make sure I don't fall victim to anyone with malign intentions. I know how 2FA works and I use it for as many of my online accounts as I can; I also know to keep secure copies of my backup codes elsewhere. Thanks - peace to you all. Have you read 2FA? Ruslik (talk) 20:15, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

CAPTCHA exempt for Unite together

Nowadays I'm repairing errors appearing in citation templates on various wikis where I haven’t edited before. Almost all of those templates contain external links. When repairing these errors on ptwiki, I kept encountering CAPTCHAs for no edits before (not autoconfirmed). Therefore here I'm requesting CAPTCHA exempt for my global account. Thanks in advance. -- U.T. 02:22, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Unite together ptwiki requires a minimum number of edits to become confirmed there, you can request that they bypass this for you at w:pt:Ajuda:Tire suas dúvidas. — xaosflux Talk 17:12, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux However I'd like to repair citations on other wikis as well later. I don’t want to request on each sites one-by-one. -- U.T. 17:21, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Try Krinkle's tool: Global SUL (it did fail for me when I tried the other day, so can't tell if it is working right now though. It will take care of the account creations, which for 99% of projects will lead to autoconfirm. — xaosflux Talk 18:35, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have tried it today, this script didn't work at all. Lemonaka (talk) 01:51, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But what if a site also requires minimum edit count? Then creating a local account and waiting for several days cannot make it autoconfirmed. Let alone the script no longer works. -- U.T. 01:57, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't think this a good idea. Unless they are very specific about what they want to do with it, I am not going to support bypassing local restrictions. Citation templates are widely used, and understanding of the language is essential in many cases before trying to fix them. If the fix is large scale, the community needs to be notified (normally bots are preferred for those fixes).--BRP ever 09:40, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Well, @BRPever, I'm going to fix those errors about invalid DOIs, ISBNs and malformed archive links. -- U.T. 11:01, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've reviewed some of the user's recent contributions, and don't see any errors or mistakes. I would encourage stewards to be relatively generous in granting low-risk permissions where they might aid volunteer efforts, even just by removing some red tape. – Ajraddatz (talk) 17:56, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
