This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Requests for global rename permissions

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Being a bilingual Russian- & Ukrainian-speaking Ukrainian citizen I have to use VPN to work with certain Russian web-sites, during these periods Wikipedia' security system stops me from making edits. Five years ago I have alreay asked some of your Stewards to let me write here without using that stupid mode "VPN ON, checking some ru-sites, VPN OFF, editing, repeat ad libitum". I wonder if checking my WP-Loyalty (kidding) takes such a long period. Have you finally come to any conclusion, pls do inform me about it. Mind that I'm only a humble editor/translator, and I do not understand your specific terms and procedures, just tell me if it is possible for me to continue my edits without being block and where should I sign my name with blood (kidding again). @Heffalump1974: Global IP block exemption only helps with global IP blocks. As far as I know many proxys are being blocked locally at ruwiki – global IP block exemption wouldn't help there. If you couldn't edit using VPN during your year with global IP block exemption you might need a local exemption. 2FA Tester for Jsooter

To increase the security of my account, I request access to 2FA. I use 1Password to store 2FA codes (it prompted this request). Global interface editor for MusikAnimal

Status:    Done

Hello! I am request global interface editing rights to assist with the various technical assistance I often provide across the movement. I held these rights prior to handing in my steward rights back in February. In the near future, I plan to use these rights to fix links to XTools (I was told the wmflabs.org domain isn't "forever"). Another example is phab:T320650 where I was pinged to assist in fixing some broken gadget definitions. I also have the rollout of AddMe v2 on the horizon, which will be similar to MoreMenu/Migration where I consult other projects about adopting the new AddMe, and ideally am able to assist with implementing it as needed. Beyond that, there are no plans to use the rights that immediately come to mind, but just as in the past, I expect the need for the rights to be ongoing, so barring objections I'm asking to retain them indefinitely.
