Wikiexperiments (Викиексперименти) is a project by Wikimedia MKD (formerly Shared Knowledge) aimed at recording high-quality videos of systematically selected experiments for the purposes of illustrating important scientific concepts and phenomena in various sciences. This is an ongoing project that started in September 2015.

Physics videos from the Institute of Physics, Skopje

[edit]

In December 2015 Shared Knowledge uploaded the first round of high-definition videos of experiments conducted to demonstrate various laws and principles of physics. These 25 demonstrations were performed by Prof. Oliver Zajkov at the Physics Institute at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, as part of a WikiExperiments project by Shared Knowledge.

The experiments are described in Macedonian and English, and added to articles on the Macedonian and English Wikipedia. Some of them also found their way in other language editions too.

On October 26 and 27 2020, the second season of filming physics experiments has started. Again in collaboration with the professor Oliver Zajkov from the Institute of Physics at the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics at the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius", 12 experiments were recorded. Then on December 14, the third time was realized with the 11 new experiments, with a total result of 23 experiments. This engagement was supported by the "Gothe-Institut" which is a abroad cultural institution of Federal Republic of Germany that operates in learning the German language and nursing the international cultural collaboration. That's why most of the covered experiments were discovered by German scientists such as Julius Plücker, Johann Wilmhelm Hittorf, Eugen Goldstein, Gustav Kirchhoff, Georg Ohm, Johann Christian Poggendorff, Heinrich Geißler...

In 2021, 15 experiments were able to be covered, again with the help of professor Oliver Zajkov from the Institute of Physics, FNSM, Skopje.

These are the videos of the physics experiments uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. They are described in Macedonian and English, but we would dearly appreciate if the descriptions can be translated in as many languages as possible and placed in their relevant articles on various Wikipedias. The thumbnail descriptions below each video here are short, and merely give an idea about their meaning. Each has a detailed description on its file page.

Note: Clicking on each description under the thumbnail will lead you to the file page with proper full description of the video.

Translation to other languages

[edit]

Shared Knowledge would be very grateful to the wider Wikimedia community if the descriptions of these scientific videos can be translated from English to as many languages as possible and inserted into the relevant articles on those Wikipedias.

Chemistry videos from the Institute of Chemistry, Skopje

[edit]

The experiments are described in Macedonian and English, and added to articles on the Macedonian and English Wikipedia. Some of them also found their way in other language editions too.

In June 2016 Shared Knowledge uploaded the first round of high-definition videos of experiments conducted to demonstrate various reactions in chemistry. These 20 demonstrations and experiments were performed by Prof. Vladimir Petruševski at the Institute of Chemistry at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, as part of a WikiExperiments project by Shared Knowledge.

On January 22 2020, in collaboration with Professors Vladimir Petruševski, Marina Stojanovska and Miha Bukleski from the Institute of Chemistry at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius", have 22 recorded experiments of chemistry.

Filming videos within the Wikiexperiments project has continued on July 6, 2021. That day, at the Institute of Chemistry, with the help and demonstration of two professors - Vladimir Petruševski, Marina Stojanovska; and one associate professor/docent - Miha Bukleski, we managed to cover 18 chemistry in span of four hours. On 25th of October, Shared Knowledge again collaborated these chemistry professors at Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. In this occasion, we were able to record 5 chemistry experiments. The last date of filming experiments in 2021 was on November 9, by recording 5 videos with the help of now retired professor Vladimir Petruševski and Marina Stojanovska.

On June 1, 2022, from 10 AM to 12 PM, at the Institute of Chemistry were recorded 8 chemistry experiments that were =performed by Vladimir Petruševski and Marina Stojanovska.

On February 13, from 10 am to 1:30 pm, we were again at the Institute of Chemistry where we recorded 18 chemical experiments. The experiments were planned and performed by the retired Prof. PhD- Vladimir Petrushevski, the Prof. PhD Miha Bukleski, and the students Mihail Trajkov and Darko Stojčev.
