This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback, global sysop, global rename, …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).
Please note that Global rollbackers discussions are not votes. Comments must present specific points in favor of or against a user's approval.
Instructions for making a request
Before requesting, make sure that:
You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
|status = <!-- don't change this line -->
|domain = global <!-- don't change this line -->
|user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions, no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.
As an administrator at Indonesian Wikipedia, I'm always on patrol to check for problematic usernames. From that, I applied for Global Renamer status to speed up the process of requesting user name changes. Ariandi LieTalk with me02:34, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Weak oppose. I'm slightly concerned about the judgement it will take if he becomes a global renamer. In the past, he asked someusers to change their names for confusing reasons (although the latter one has been renamed by a global renamer). The criteria for confusing usernames on idwiki is listed clearly in Wikipedia:Kebijakan nama pengguna and based on that, the users above did not violate the criteria. I declined some username change requests several times because his reason was not applicable. ···🌸Rachmat04·☕08:40, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yes. I understand what is meant. In fact, I often find that reasonable usernames are given warnings by previous administrators or users that have been stored for years. sometimes I have to remove the warning. In fact, that I found users, especially sockpuppet users, who deliberately created many accounts with names that I felt were confusing without making any contribution at all to any wiki projects. Where I found this user, in a day, could create 2 or more new user accounts with almost the same name. I can't report for sockpuppet investigations because of this. One of my ways is to provide a warning via the username warning. and usually they never change their username or may be rejected by Rachmat04 when changing their name because my reason wasn't applicable. Ariandi LieTalk with me04:49, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ariandi Lie I am a bit confused. You said, one of your ways to deal with sockpuppets and "confusing" usernames is provide a warning via the username warning and maybe get rejected by Rachmat04 when changing their name because my reason wasn't applicable. First, have I understood that right? Then I wan't to focus on the most important question: will you stop to warn people who don't violate the username policy? As a renamer, you are the one who is dealing with the rename requests, and if requests based on your warnings get rejected by Rachmat04 because they are not needed it doesn't feel very good to be honest... --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 06:47, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am a bit on the neutral here. I don't understand the language but it looks like: Since they can't request CU for having similar username, they warn the users for having similar names to sockpuppet users. I don't really know what the warning says, but that's what it would really depend on for me. Those diff above are fairly recent so a little hesitant to support, but overall I don't see any other major issues.--BRP ever07:14, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Even though I support it, I still hope that you can improve yourself further by explaining in detail where the confusion in a name lies. Keep in mind that this has also been a problem in recent times. Fazoffic (talk) 13:47, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support Because Ariandi Lie sees a lot of problematic usernames on Wikipedia Indonesia. We as Wikipedia Indonesia users see many usernames that are still problematic even though they have changed their names, but it is unfortunate that global name changers who do not understand the meaning of the account name immediately change the account names of many users without asking the reason and meaning of the name first Badak Jawa (talk) 13:49, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Weak oppose per WP:BITE. I share Rachmat04's sentiment too, regarding their past behavior - although in this case, not specifically about renaming, but rather in their general interaction with other Wikipedia users. Back then, I was testing the newly deployed Growth feature mentor dashboard, teaching several Wikipedia newcomers the basics of Wikipedia editing and rules. Suddenly, he aggressively reprimanded both me (as a mentor) and my student due to his perceived interpretation of a specific local policy regarding the notability of local pesantren. I tried so hard to teach the newcomer to keep the article neutral, properly sourced, and in adherence to the current local consensus on editorial guidelines for educational institution, but they accused me of G11: advertising content. I'm actually okay if our contribution got deleted (and locked forever, so nobody - other than the admins - can ever create that page again) if local policy and consensus said so. However, at least be consistent (and delete and lock every listed pesantren here too). Rtnf (talk) 15:35, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi everyone. I don't have many global activities right now but I can take this permission voluntarily usually to look local requests. First of all, I know that I'm not an admin in any project yet (I know that this is not an obstacle or a necessity), but you can trust me and I don't have any blocks. I have enough experience and I have some permissions in many projects. I know global rename policy and local username policy. Why do I want it so much? Because for a long time, I always especially direct the newcomers who have incorrect names to the local page to be changed their names. I inform and encourage them. But I can't take action because of lack of authority. Currently only one user locally has this permission and this is a bad situation. I'm a candidate and volunteer for this permission in order to help and share this work burden. I was a candidate last year as well and I have improved myself a lot since then. Right now I can just engage with reporting inappropriate names but it isn't enough for me. You all can look at my contributions. I'm active in the project and it seems like more than one of these permissions is needed, and as you all can see, it is needed. Recently the latest request which was waiting to be solved for a long time was done by TenWhile6. I had redirected him to this page for name change a while ago. I'm interested in pages and situations like this: Requested moves, Changing username, Files for upload (third page was created new). I will continue to do my best regardless of the result. Thanks for your all attention! All the best wishes to everyone, Gadir (talk) 20:02, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let me explain this: I posted a notice about it on the local wiki, in the Village pump. I thought it might be useful. To get their opinions. Best, Gadir (talk) 21:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Sure no, I didn't do that this time. In that candidacy, I wrote on the message pages of the some users and I know that is was wrong. And this time I did it as said here. I made a clear notice in the Village pump. As it seems this is not an ad. You can check it out here. Did I do something wrong? :/ I just followed the advice. I also explained the valid reason. And I just thought it was important to add this information here. Gadir (talk) 00:14, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I'm going to oppose. I may have supported you if you at least acknowledged the blocks, but no, it took an IP to mention them. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs)21:56, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did not deny this. But that's all solved. It has been discussed before. This is resolved issues. But I respect your opinion. Thanks anyway. Gadir (talk) 22:06, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thinking about it, I think 6 months is enough time to learn from those blocks; I'm willing to tentatively Support as a second chance. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs)10:59, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for giving me a second chance. And I can say that blocking me was due to only being too active. :) So I've never done the damage and bad things. I don't want y'all to think like that about me. I'll tryna justify all the trust. All of my sincerity, Gadir (talk) 12:13, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support I think this level of notification to a community where they are going to be handling most of the request from is ok in my opinion (if the translation from google translate was accurate). A leaning support here.--BRP ever07:27, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes surely. As you see I wrote the same things there too. I had explained the problem and need. It seems clear that we need it. Let me tell you that I can also be interested in global requests. Gadir (talk) 10:21, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
* {{o}} @Gadir was banned indefinitely from trwiki for making a sockpuppet, then he was given one last chance and was blocked multiple times on azwiki for breaking many rules. He is definitely not a trustworthy user, I invite those who vote support to be more careful. 149.140.136.712:53, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
— Note: An editor has expressed a concern that 149.140.136.7 has been canvassed to this discussion.
This (trwiki) and this (azwiki) don't look convincing, especially since the last blocks were in December and September respectively. I'll formally cast my !vote once Gadir elaborates on these blocks. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs)13:19, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but that is plain falsification. Just check how many accounts there are on trwiki or casualties in WW2. Disgracefully to all who died in WW2. A09 (talk) 14:47, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@A09, this user is watching process of the Azerbaijani Wikipedia and probably came here from the notice there. To defame me. I have no blocks anymore. And I hope to continue without any problems. Gadir (talk) 14:51, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll not judge on who is right and who not, bot sorry, we cannot compare mere 290k accounts of azwiki with 85 million casualties of WW2. A09 (talk) 14:54, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but casting unproved aspersions against any editor is against the rule of assuming good faith. You should ought to prove your claims, the burden is on you, not on us to (potentially) discover it. A09 (talk) 14:59, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Burden of proof applies to every editor no matter their religious/sexual orientation or country of citizenship/nationality. A09 (talk) 16:10, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I guess this user is the user who has been blocked indefinitely on Azerbaijani Wikipedia. He was banned indefinitely by community decision because he committed many serious violations. (undisclosed paid-contributions, conflict of interest, legal threats, puppet accounts) He applied for unblock a month ago, but the community unanimously rejected it. Now he's trying to disrupt Wikipedia. Other users can also prove this (Nemoralis, Solavirum, White Demon). You can ask if you wish. The puppet issue was just a technical error and was later corrected. I was patient throughout this process (even if i'm sad), because I was right. There was a mistake and it was corrected. Vincent Vega might also explain it. Any problem? I'm currently patroller on Turkish Wikipedia. Would they give this to an insecure user? I think no. He disrupts the functioning of Wikipedia. He is trying to denigrate me because like other users, I strongly opposed him unblock. Like the others. The user is definitely not here to build an encyclopedia. He uses Wikipedia for his own "businnes" interests.
Yes there have been some problems in the past. I may make mistakes like everyone else. I want everyone to know this: My goal is to work for the projects and give my contributions. I use these permissions in this way. As I said, whether or not I have this permission will not affect my activity, I will continue. I just wanted to clarify the issue. Thanks for reading this far. Best regards, Gadir (talk) 14:10, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support I am not sure if the anonymous user above is the user Gadir mentioned. I was on wikibreak during checkuser investigation so I don't know much about that. But since I personally know the first user in the list (Samral), I am sure that he is not a sock account. I am not sure about the rest, Gadir might answer it. Nemoralis (talk) 14:31, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
* {{o|Strong oppose}} We should give global renaming rights to trusted users, Gadir is definitely not a trusted user, we should support other trusted users instead of supporting sock puppeteers like Gadir. 149.140.127.22914:42, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
— Note: An editor has expressed a concern that 149.140.127.229 has been canvassed to this discussion.
Do you have proof he's a "vote hunting" user? He only has made a central notice on azwiki and didn't went around pinging/messaging editors to vote for him in support. A09 (talk) 17:36, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Syunsyunminmin, sorry if you see it that way, but it is not like that. It complies with local policy, there is no any violation. As I said, I will also be active locally. I explained it there and above. Should we have discussed this with the local community before the request? But, if there are too many objections, I can remove it. Or I can shorten it. No problem. Gadir (talk) 15:41, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Since this was brought up last time, I seem to have looked at it too harshly. Maybe it is just me this time. I won't be voting this time, but wish you luck. Syunsyunminmin🗨️talk17:47, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My guess is that the same person is trying to create the wrong perception by constantly using templates. With IP address. It could be the blocked user I mentioned. He was watching the local wiki and he saw the notification there and came. It couldn't do it using a few accounts, because it would be caught. How can we solve this? I don't want to cause any discomfort. I think I have made sufficient explanation on this subject. If there are other questions, I'm ready to answer them too. By the way, what big fans I have, they were always monitoring my contributions. :) Gadir (talk) 19:51, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm doing so. If this is the user about whom I am talking I want to say that he is disturbing not only me but also other users continuously. He's doing all this because he's blocked. Gadir (talk) 20:56, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support though I think it would help if you become a sysop at your home wiki. No consideration given to the IP addresses since it appears that their opposes were done in bad faith. Leaderboard (talk) 14:35, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support though I was tagged here, as an active sysop on AzWiki who also monitors Gadir's activity, I see no reason to not support their case. --► Sincerely: SolaVirum16:31, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support It is appropriate to give this status to the mentioned person in order to help Azerbaijan Wikipedia, because he is already one of the most active members. Redivy (talk) 08:32, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
