Instructions[edit]

Before posting here[edit]

Please list the specific projects that you need to be renamed in under your request, unless you are requesting a global rename.

How to add an entry here[edit]

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status =
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~

Making a request for your own account[edit]

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests[edit]

Requests that need to be made in private should be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Simple rename requests[edit]

If your rename request is simple and does not involve usurpation of an existing account or other SUL issues, you have two options:

  1. Use the request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
  2. Submit the request below in this section.

Please use this tool to check if the username is taken before filing a request.

@Elefish92: A username cannot begin with a lower-case letter, so it will being Lbsj, okay?--Alaa :)..! 08:38, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

wmr-bot[edit]

Note Note: Request from queue rejected (cf. Special:GlobalRenameQueue/request/30840/view) due to large editcount. Total edit count: 91,237. —MarcoAurelio 09:57, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
I am myself not a fan of renaming bots. Is there any reason why you can't simply create a new account instead of pushing the limits of renaming? Savhñ 16:50, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Seconded. We've been here before anyways. Bots are not concerned about their old edits being left behind under an old username so we should not be wasting resources renaming bots when operators could just create a new account and move their bot over to the new username. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 17:00, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Requests involving merges, usurps or other complications[edit]

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username and requests should be signed by the requesting user.
Please note: Per standard procedure, accounts with valid edits are not usurped, and the target account must be notified at least one month before usurpation.

MartinZ02@global[edit]

Original request filed at en:Special:Permalink/761188209 here. This request was moved from enwp usurpation request to meta usurpation request per target account not existing locally. I have notified the target account on their home talk page (on the German Wikipedia) here. --JustBerry (talk) 19:18, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

Gacelp@global[edit]

@Gacelp: Do you own both accounts? If so, please log in a make a confirmation edit both with Gacelp and Gacelperfinian and post the diff links here. If ownership of both accounts is confirmed, there's no need to wait for a month. We would usurp Gacelperfinian and then move back Gacelp to Gacelperfinian. —MarcoAurelio 17:33, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
Unfortunately, no, I don't have access to it. - Gacelp (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:51, 29 January 2017‎ (UTC).

@Burakolik: The account can be usurped (all its edits are non-constructive), but please notify the user on their talk page on Swedish Wikipedia of your intention using the this message. Savhñ 00:49, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

AJORDAN@global[edit]

AJORDAN (talk) 18:36, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Please notify the target account on their talk page, for instance with this message. The account was not created last year, but probably predating account creation logs. Savhñ 20:03, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
Done. I also meant to say 2 years ago as that is what the Special:CentralAuth gave. AJORDAN (talk) 21:10, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
Time2wait.svg On hold until the 18th of March, to allow a normal month for possible opposition. The global account was created two years ago as part of the SUL finalisation, but it's likely the account itself was created before 2006. Savhñ 21:32, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Kasun g92[edit]

@Kasun g92: Please notify the target account on their talk page, for instance with this message.--Alaa :)..! 10:15, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
Done :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kasun g92 (talk)

Bankster1[edit]

Since all the edits by Bankster have been immediately reverted and in no way contributed to the project, I think it's usurpable. Please leave a message, such as the this one, on the user's talk page. After that, it'll be on hold for a month. Savhñ 22:01, 19 February 2017 (UTC)
It's already done. I'll be waiting for a resolution. Thank you. -Bankster1 (talk) 01:48, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Sonia Sevilla[edit]

Time2wait.svg On hold until March 21, 2017. This will also require supervision from a dev as you have a very large edit count. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 13:40, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Mik@plwiki[edit]

We (stewards) can move the "Mik" account into the "~mik" account (you will need to merge the account yourself by accessing pl:Special:MergeAccount), but to be clear, which username would you like to have; "Mik" or "~mik"? Savhñ 16:53, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
As I already explained, at the end I would like to have the edits on Mik, but currently I have only edits there on plwiki. So I would like to either move edits on plwiki to ~mik, and then globally rename ~mik to Mik, or move edits on other 7 wikis separately (which would be probably more complicated?). Mik (talk) 17:02, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Please access pl:Special:MergeAccount now to merge your global account. Savhñ 17:09, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Done. Great thanks :). Should I file now a separate request to rename ~mik to Mik, or can it be done here? Mik (talk) 17:15, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
@Mik: Done, accounts switched. Please create the userpages of the ~Mik account on the projects where you previously used that account and detail the changes that have taken place. Due to the switch in accounts, I have had to suppress the creation of redirects. Savhñ 17:27, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Not yet fully done; I accidentally renamed it to "~Mik" and will fix the capitalisation as soon as the rename has been completed. Savhñ 17:28, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Fully done; Please create the user pages of the ~mik account on the projects where you previously contributed with that account to inform of the changes that have taken place, as due to the switch in accounts I have had to suppress the creation of redirects. Savhñ 17:38, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Again great thanks :). That is what exactly I wanted to achieve. ~mik (talk) 17:41, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

JanStovicek[edit]

Target account is, in line with the current practice, not usurpable due to its contributions. There are many possible combinations for user names that are not used (or have never contributed), should you wish to be renamed. You can file a new request through this form or on this page should it involve an existing account without contributions. Savhñ 17:32, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Anyeverybody@global[edit]

I noticed this user with two accounts that diverged. User was active about a full year ago on en.wikipedia. I am not fully sure what happened that caused the divergence but it would be best if the two accounts could be somehow merged. Mind that, none of these accounts are mine. -- とある白い猫 chi? 23:02, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Per Steward_requests/Username_changes/2017-02#Gwaur.40enwiki, we do not handle such requests unless the user requests it (& can prove they own both accounts), as we are not able to merge the accounts. Any user can merge their own account into the global one through Special:MergeAccount). Alternatively, file a request on phabricator. Savhñ 11:45, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
