Feedback[edit]

Hey Mehrdad, just wanted to let you know that I really like how you're moderating the strategy discussion. You're really good at this and I admire your moderation skills and your calm approach. I wish we could meet in person some day. All the best – keep being great! --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 03:29, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey Frank, that really means a lot, you just brightened my day. Good morning from Toronto. I totally understand the frustrations out there and the history behind the mistrust, but we genuinely need feedback to improve these recommendations and there has been so much effort to bring them to this point. There is so much expertise out there that's not being properly shared and channelled. Trying :) Really appreciate this feedback. Where are you based? Office hours[edit]

Hi, I am sitting ready for the first session of office hours about the Wikimedia 2030 recommendations. And now I notice the dates have changed. 212.182.155.232 06:41, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi there, so sorry about that. Yes, we changed the dates away from Friday, so folks could have a silent working day. Will you be able to join us next week at either one of the sessions on May 19th or 20th? If not, happy to plan another call. MPourzaki (WMF) (talk) 13:53, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Reviewer role[edit]

Re your email: Does being a reviewer entail anything other than following developments and commenting on them? Is there any difference between doing those things as a reviewer vs as an ordinary contributor? (I generally dislike having "roles" for things, when avoidable. Wikis work best when anyone can take involve themselves in whatever at any moment, though I understand there are certain things for which contributor roles are necessary.) --Yair rand (talk) 21:59, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Hi Yair rand. Indeed the whole process is open and everyone is very much welcome to comment. There will be concurrent updates for review as we progress, and a more dedicated feedback period in early August on the plan for the virtual events. Some people have told us they prefer to be emailed and are more responsive that way, so I reached out to nominees and others that had commented on the pages to see if they wanted to be pinged and be part of a reviewers group. Otherwise, no difference at all. MPourzaki (WMF) (talk) 13:19, 17 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Hi Yair rand, as promised, we have shared the draft outline for Transition events after session 4. Would love to hear your thoughts. You already shared lots after session 3 and thank you so much for that. If there is anything further, let us know. MPourzaki (WMF) (talk) 21:12, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

We need your feedback on a tool from the Wikimedia Summit[edit]

Reminder: the guide to using Baserow, presented during the Wikimedia Summit.

Hi! I'm contacting you as one of the participants in the Wikimedia Summit 2022, to kindly ask for your feedback through a 5-10 minute survey to evaluate 'Baserow' (note: the survey is on a Google form).

Baserow was a tool through which participants in the Summit co-created a database of Movement Strategy activities. We hope to learn from you how useful it may be to keep using it in the future to help document and connect on Movement Strategy work.

You are welcome and encouraged to fill out the survey in any language. Your feedback would be very appreciated --Abbad (WMF) (talk) 15:38, 16 February 2023 (UTC).Reply[reply]

Queering Wikipedia 2023 conference[edit]

Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group and the organizing team of Queering Wikipedia is delivering the Queering Wikipedia 2023 Conference for LGBT+ Wikimedians and allies, as a hybrid, bilingual and trans-local event. It is online on 12, 14 and 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia #IDAHOBIT, with offline events at around 10 locations on 5 continents in the 5-day span as QW2023 Nodes.

The online program is delivered as a series of keynotes, panels, presentations, workshops, lightning talks and creative interventions, starting on Friday noon (UTC) with the first keynote of Dr Nishant Shah entitled: I spy, with my little AI — Wikiway as a means to disrupt the ‘dirty queer’ impulses of emergent AI platforms. Second keynote is at Sunday’s closure by Esra’a Al Shafei, Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees vice chair, entitled: Digital Public Spaces for Queer Communities.

If you have been an active Wikimedian or enthusiast, supporting LGBT+ activities or if you identify as part of the larger LGBT+ community and allies in Wikimedia, please join us in advancing this thematic work. We encourage you to join online or in person with fellow Wikimedians if it is easy and safe to do so.
