Instructions

SUL finalization

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

How to add an entry here

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~
}}

Example

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
{{SRUC
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here
--~~~~
}}

Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests

Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Requests

Please add new requests at the end of the page. Sections should be titled your username@project name or your username@multiple projects please.

لطرش احمد الهاشمي@wikimedia projects does not have a bureaucrat

(List collapsed by me). Please read the edit notice (the text you see above the edit box when editing): "As of now, there is NO GLOBAL RENAME tool. The stewards must decline any request for username changes or usurpation on wikis that have active local bureaucrats". Please make individual requests for each wiki. Aditionally, you don't need to be renamed on wikis where you have 0 edits. --MF-W 18:37, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@MF-Warburg: I need the same name in all Wikimedia project please for the future and you can except the active local bureaucrat in this page --لطرش احمد الهاشمي (talk) 18:41, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but you need to remove those wikis from your list in order for stewards to process this. --Rschen7754 22:16, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rschen7754: I remove some projects in last week, but some project not accept my request from 3 month ago, please help me, if you can help me, and thanks--A.Latreche (talk) 19:59, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Glancing through the list, I still see plenty of wikis listed that have active bureaucrats. --Rschen7754 04:27, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rschen7754: yes but the wikis have bureaucrats and they did not accpet my request from 3 month ago because they don't know Arabic أحمدis not like احمد ,please help me, if you can help me and remove the wikis that have active bureaucrat in this list--A.Latreche (talk) 14:51, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot follow which wiki you are unable to get a rename on. Please list the specific projects without local bureaucrats that you need a rename on (i.e. where you actually have edits), and specify which wikis with local bureaucrats you are unable to get a rename on with links to your requests. Ajraddatz (talk) 19:05, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since nobody else is going to do this, I suppose I will.

小林さやか

We could do the rename on ja.wp, but there is an inactive de.wp account with edits under the new name. Thoughts? MBisanz talk 13:05, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It was the first time for me to login Wikipedia, but I did not notice to registered with a wrong name. Please change my user name.
Because of the existing account on dewiki, the username Pilip is not available. You can place a new request below should you wish to be renamed to a different name. Savhñ 09:37, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

デイナイスホテル東京@multiple projects

We cannot rename on wikis with active bureaucrats. Please make requests locally on those projects. --Rschen7754 06:57, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think the user wants to be renamed on jawiki, though the account is indefinitely blocked there for socketpuppetry. Ruslik (talk) 19:30, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Closing as not done. Savhñ 09:34, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Biplabrjb@newiki

I do not understand what you mean by "i already change my username in nepali wikipedia to बिप्लब आनन्द". Ruslik (talk) 19:15, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In past i requested to nepali wiki admin to change my username Biplabrjb to बिप्लब आनन्द,they changed it successfully but after the change i can't edit globally on Wikipedia through the user name :बिप्लब आनन्द,so now i want to change my user name बिप्लब आनन्द so i can edit globally through this particular username (बिप्लब आनन्द).Thanks
You'll need to first log in with बिप्लब आनन्द on ne.wikipedia to create a standard unified login (SUL) - after logging in, go to ne:Special:MergeAccount to ensure the creation of your SUL. After that, you will need to go to the appropriate pages on the left side of this page to request renames from Biplabrjb to बिप्लब आनन्द on en.wikipedia [2], commons.wikimedia [3], meta.wikimedia here and wikidata.org [4] to complete your SUL. Once you are done that, go back to Special:MergeAccount on newikipedia to add those accounts to your SUL. Please let me know if I can help more :) Ajraddatz (talk) 05:39, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks sir i have done it ..and i can now edit everywhere thanks .now would you please change my name or not ?
Unfortunately I can't change it. You'll need to go to each of the pages I linked to above to change your remaining accounts with edits, then once they have all been locally renamed, you will need to go to Special:MergeAccount on ne.wikipedia to add them to your SUL. Ajraddatz (talk) 19:01, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nirmalpathak@gu.wikipedia

Please, log in and confirm your request. Ruslik (talk) 11:47, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I can log into en.wikipedia with New Username, but I cannot log into gu.wikipedia with New Username.
Here with old username. Ruslik (talk) 19:51, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I can log in here(meta.wikimedia) with my old username.
No, that edit was done with an IP address. Please log into meta.wikimedia.org with your old username. --Rschen7754 20:20, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Logged in with my old username to confirm my request.
Done Please log in with your new username. You can file a request for a rename on Meta at CHU. Once you have done that, you can go to Special:MergeAccount, merge your accounts together into a new unified login, and you will be done. --Rschen7754 03:09, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Herzeleid@brwiki

Have you tried to contact the brwiki bureaucrat? Alternatively, by the way, you can take "Herzeleid" as a global account (since it doesn't exist yet) once you have more edits than the frwiki user (ca. 30), who is inactive since 2008. --MF-W 19:07, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lugusto@bgwiki

Before you made the rename request you had zero contributions. Now you have one. We do not rename accounts with zero contributions. Just forget about it. Ruslik (talk) 16:59, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Ruslik0: He is requesting usurpation, not the rename, of a zero-edit account. Savhñ 09:10, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

関根智一@jawiki

Does account 'Sekky' on en.wikipedia belong to you? Ruslik (talk) 17:09, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply, Mr. Ruslik. I don't have another account, so the account 'Sekky' on en.wikipedia doesn't belong to me. Should I choose other name? Could you tell me What I should do to change my name on ja.wikipedia? Thank you so much for your kindness. --関根智一 (talk) 09:32, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please, choose a different name. Ruslik (talk) 10:04, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Then, is 'Tsekine' OK for my new name?--関根智一 (talk) 00:32, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This name also exist on jawiki. Does it belong to you? Ruslik (talk) 19:07, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cossack@jawiki

Please, log in and sign this request. Ruslik (talk) 17:09, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Ruslik0: Making him create a global account to have a local account renamed seems pretty useless. I believe it'd be better if he posted an edit on jawiki confirming he is the one requesting the rename and provided the diff for confirmation here. Savhñ 09:07, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That will be ok too. Ruslik (talk) 17:20, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I logged in jawiki and created a new page (click here) on jawiki. Does it help you? --114.163.203.14 14:42, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
For confirmation purposes, we would like you to make specific reference to this request, using the edit summary for instance. Savhñ 14:55, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I just created a new account "Cossack" (oldname) in the meta-wiki and edit this message. --Cossack (talk) 14:27, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please, follow this link. Ruslik (talk) 19:10, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Ruslik0. I tried, but error message says that the home wiki is he.wikipedia.org. This account is not mine. --Cossack (talk) 11:16, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, the Cossack account on he.wiki has the right to SUL since he has the largest editcount. I suggest you choose a different nick. Savhñ 11:29, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
He is a long absent valued user on he.wiki. Please choose another name, and we will execute this request. Matanya (talk) 11:34, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I created another account named "Cossack3rd" on the jawiki. This is the name I wanted to change to. Since no one uses this name, the account is unified automatically. I provide the link between the old and the new accounts on the user pages of both "Cossack" (the old account) and "Cossack3rd" (the new one). Sorry for bothering you because I am not familiar with the wiki rules.

Not done Global rename is not possible as you have been already renamed on enwiki. Please, ask bureaucrats locally on all projects where you have contributions. Ruslik (talk) 16:18, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps English Wikipedia bureaucrats should be made aware not to rename users who have SUL accounts locally and instead direct them to this page so they can be renamed on all wikis in one go. odder (talk) 12:41, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
