Global rollback for Sotiale
- Global user: Sotiale (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 16 December 2019 11:25 UTC
Hi everyone! I would like to request the global rollback tool. Please check my userpage and SUL info for basic information (edits, xwiki activities, toolkits, etc). I have rollback tool (included in sysop toolkit) on some wikis, so I know the basic usage. And I have experiences of 1500+ revert edits through small wiki monitor (it does not include RfD edits and revert edits of wikis where I have toolkit or had in the past). Also sometimes reported spambots and cross-wiki abuse using Twinkle or IRC. I mainly used TwinkleGlobal and sometimes SWViewer. My first participation in SWMT was in 2012, but I haven't participated since mid-2013. A large number of revert edits have recently been made.
Because I am a human, I can make mistakes. I tried to re-check the page history and users' contribution list. After that, I tried to check block records, cross-wiki contributions and interwiki links(=through Wikidata) to reduce mistakes. If I found my mistake, I repaired it myself. I feel I will not abuse this tool. So I hereby post a request here. Thank you in advance for your precious review. --Sotiale (talk) 11:25, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

global-interface-editor for MusikAnimal
- Global user: MusikAnimal (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am requesting temporary global-interface-editor rights so that I can finish up the rollout of the new version of MoreMenu. This gadget is deployed on 40 or so wikis. The goal is to get all of them to use the new version that lives on Meta, this way they get updates for free, along with localization and other features. See MoreMenu/Migration for more information. For the larger wikis, I contacted an interface-admin directly who speaks English, and I've got nearly all of those taken care of. It seems it's going to take quite a while to do the remaining wikis, either due to a language barrier, inactivity of interface admins, or that there are no interface admins at all. So, I'm hoping I can just do the migration for them, which saves time for all involved.
For Vector users, there is no visual difference at all. Monobook and Modern users have been using a very old, partially broken version that does look different. However so far there have been zero complaints and lots of thanks. That said, at this point I think this is a fairly uncontroversial task, so I hope I'm not out line in making this request. If I do encounter a wiki with an obvious gadget deployment process, active int-admins, etc., I will happily defer to them. Overall the migration shouldn't take me more than a week to complete. Thanks for your consideration, — MusikAnimal talk 23:39, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- @MusikAnimal: in your notes at MoreMenu/Migration it looks like many of these are pending translations - do you expect this to be a blocker on all of the sites without notes? — xaosflux Talk 15:54, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: It's not really a blocker, since you can add translations at anytime. I just wanted to get them beforehand so I could offer peer gadget styles when setting up the gadget, but that's not important. If a particular wiki is missing too many translations, and they're not already using English messages, then I suppose I won't bother migrating it. There aren't many of these, since translations can be taken from Haza-w's old dropdown gadget and/or from MediaWiki itself (e.g. "Deletion log" goes to Special:Log/delete so it's safe to use the MediaWiki:dellogpage message). — MusikAnimal talk 17:33, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- @MusikAnimal: in general this seems like a reasonable ask, especially for projects without int-admins, for projects that have active int-admins (for example urwiki from your list) I think they should at least be queried first to see if they would like you to update their project for them. Thoughts? — xaosflux Talk 19:19, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: Yes of course. I haven't identified a point of contact for every wiki yet, but I will as I go through them. urwiki fortunately has an int-admin who is active and speaks English, so that should be no problem. — MusikAnimal talk 19:37, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @MusikAnimal: thank you - perhaps this can be put on hold (or at least any work to be done should be delayed until you have a final project list? — xaosflux Talk 20:35, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: MoreMenu/Migration is the full list, I just didn't add contacts and individual instructions for some. I can do that, it's just rather time consuming. Again I'll check if there are active int-admins first, and MoreMenu/Migration will kept up-to-date with progress. I should mention I'm on wikibreak starting around the 20th, so I'm hoping we can move forward with this sooner than later. If I don't get everyone migrated before then, it's no big deal, it will just have to wait until mid-January, and by then I may have lost steam on this project. I started the migration about two weeks ago, after many months of development, and have only got 7 out of the 40 wikis updated. If nothing else, wikis sourcing enwiki's installation need to be updated as those will soon break entirely. — MusikAnimal talk 21:04, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- I've added some notes for every wiki listed at MoreMenu/Migration. Wikis listed as "low-priority", and those with inactive/semi-active/no int-admins, are what I'm most interested in doing myself. With very few users and the slow turnaround, it's otherwise not worth my time. I don't expect any push back as functionally nothing is changing. — MusikAnimal talk 02:53, 12 December 2019 (UTC)

I am just fixing faultily and outdated Gadget-definition ( [1], [2], [3] ) pages. The Global Sysop permissions is not always sufficient here (for example dewikinews and cswikinews). The gadgets definition page is faultily in many projects.--𐐎ℹ𝕜ⅈ𝕭𝒂𝕪ⅇ𝕣 👤💬 08:45, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose sorry, but this doesn't seem like a sufficient reason to gain this access on every project. GS is supposed to be insufficient to change any project. Regarding your examples: (dewikinews) that project has local admins and 'crats, (cswikinews) has local admins/crats/and interface-admins that should be able to manage their own configurations. — xaosflux Talk 15:44, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Xaosflzx I can't understand her argumentation. In many projects gadgets do not work since many years and some javascript/css files that do not exist are loaded by default. To my examples: In cswikinews there are no active sysops and dewikinews no interfaces admins--𐐎ℹ𝕜ⅈ𝕭𝒂𝕪ⅇ𝕣 👤💬 16:32, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- dewikinews has bureaucrats and can self manage their interface admins. cswikinews has an interface administrator that was globally active as recently as 2 days ago that could deal with their project. — xaosflux Talk 16:40, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux Bureaucrats must also adhere to guidelines and not simply grant rights as they wish. There are errors in ~100 projects. Very few projects have active users with permissions to edit js or css .--𐐎ℹ𝕜ⅈ𝕭𝒂𝕪ⅇ𝕣 👤💬 11:12, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

- Question: Could you estimate how many changes on how many wikis you need to do where GS rights are not sufficient, please? --Base (talk) 01:00, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Basev There are currently still between 10 and 20 projects without global sysop access with faulty configurations. In the (bigger) projects without GS access only a small change like "ResourceLoader" or the creation of a css file is necessary.--𐐎ℹ𝕜ⅈ𝕭𝒂𝕪ⅇ𝕣 👤💬 18:15, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

- Neutral highly trusted user, has sufficient cross-wiki experience and they demonstrated a need for this permission. But I unfortunately don't know how experienced this user is in coding JS and CSS. I am certain that they wouldn't abuse this right but it's not hard to make mistakes accidentally which can cause site-wide problems. Masum Reza☎ 19:08, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
