Steward requests/Global permissions

This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global sysops policy.
Stewards
When you give someone global sysop rights, please list them on Users with global sysop access and ask them to subscribe to the global sysops mailing list.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account ;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;

 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Global IP block exempt for Mirinano

I use Safari on my Mac and iPad to access Wikimedia. Recent global blocking has blocked editing from these devices. I'm temporarily logged in from Google Chrome, but I still want to edit in the familiar safari, so I request the global IP block exemption flag.

Global IP block exempt for Butcher2021

I would like to edit from a country which has blocked wikipedia, thanks.--Butcher2021 (talk) 08:34, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You were previously asked which country it was. Could you reply to that please? -- Amanda (aka DQ) 15:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Butcher2021: How were you able to post here? -- Jeff G. ツ (please ping or talk to me) 20:43, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Probably through some vpn. --Zabe (talk) 20:48, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Depending on the country, Meta might also not be blocked (especially since it uses a different domain, wikimedia.org). ~~~~

Sometimes meta is not blocked. I do not know how. Butcher2021 (talk) 20:39, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Global blocks do not apply on Meta, so stewards might have forgotten to block on Meta or deliberately left it unblocked. ~~~~

Hello @Rizīka, it looks the majority of your edits are at English Wikipedia. Could you please first request a local exemption there? The process is explained at en:WP:IPECPROXY. Once the request is granted, we'll gladly consider granting a global exemption. Best, Martin Urbanec (talk) 16:42, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Hirok Raja

আমি SWViwer থেকে স্মল উইকিগুলোতে (বিশেষত ইংরেজি উইকিতে) রোলব্যাক করতে পারছি না। রোলব্যাক করতে গেলেই আমি আইপি বাধার সম্মুখীন হচ্ছি এবং এই বার্তাটি (রোলব্যাক ত্রুটি: Your IP address has been blocked automatically, because it was used by a blocked user.) দেখাচ্ছে। প্রসঙ্গত বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়াতে ইতোমধ্যে আমার আইপি বাধা রহিতকরণ অধিকারটি রয়েছে। ধন্যবাদ, --Hirok Raja (talk) 16:55, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Global IP block exemption does not affect autoblocks in any way. The correct solution would be to report the issue to admins of the particular project, so they can remove it. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 13:53, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Doge24190

I am an editor of Chinese Wikipedia, mainly active in Chinese Wikipedia, but sometimes I need to add Wikidata items or add content to Wikipedia in other languages, and due to the Internet content censorship system in my area, I have to use proxy access Wikipedia, but the ip address of the proxy I often use is blocked, so I apply for the Global IP block exempt here. I will be grateful if you can grant me this permission--Doge24190 (talk) 16:26, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done, as you're already flagged at zhwiki, and have some experience there. Note that even with the global exemption, you may still face blocks, as the global exemption only affects global blocks, not local. A notable example is English Wikipedia, which tends to block all proxies locally as well. In those cases, you'll need to follow local procedures. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 16:41, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2FA Tester for Camson

@Camson: Hello, can you please confirm you read H:2FA, and are familiar with the risks mentioned there (namely, that you will lose access to your account should you ever lose both your authentication device and your scratch codes)? --Martin Urbanec (talk) 12:02, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
