Can I get the two accounts merged into YuviPanda? I got an account rename on enwiki before I knew about SUL. |

Instructions
SUL finalization
If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.
How to add an entry here
To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

For global rename requests: === Example === {{SRUC |status = <!--don't change this line--> |domain = global |Oldname = Example |Newname = Foo |reason = your remarks here --~~~~ }} |
Making a request for your own account
For changing your username on one wiki:
Please include the following information in your request:
- the old username,
- the new username,
- please sign
~~~~
request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).
If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.
Private requests
Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.
Simple rename requests
If your rename request requires no stewardship, you have two options:
- Use the (new) request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
- Utilise the manual process outlined above, and submit it below in this section.
Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username@global if you wish to be globally renamed. Please use this tool to check if the username is taken before filing a request.
Hi, Steward Strynk! Forgive me. I really do not understand your response... In fact, searching for 'Abinitio' at the address you have pointed shows this:
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Abinitio
- User:Abinitio
- From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name. In general, this page should be created and edited by :User:Abinitio. If in doubt, please verify that "Abinitio" exists.
- Start the User:Abinitio page.
- Search for "User:Abinitio" in existing pages of namespace User.
- Look for pages within Wikipedia that link to this title.
- Other reasons this message may be displayed:
- If a page was recently created here, it may not be visible yet because of a delay in updating the database; wait a few minutes and try the purge function.
- Titles on Wikipedia are case sensitive except for the first character; please check alternative capitalizations and consider adding a redirect here to the correct title.
- If the page has been deleted, check the deletion log, and see Why was the page I created deleted?.
Nothing else. Forgive me for that. I really do not understand your answer ... So, why can not I request this name? Eu, cidadão brasileiro (talk) 00:28, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- If 'Abinitio' effectively not available, please, consider my new and substitute request for 'Aainitio'. Thanks. Eu, cidadão brasileiro (talk) 02:06, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Requests involving merges, usurps or other complications
Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username@global and requests should be signed by both the source (from) and target (to) user accounts.
Please note that stewards are still awaiting the global merge tool. Requests that are doable will be processed now, and merge requests will be added to a list of pending requests until the tool is available.
- Reason: Registration of the name was first done by me, I'm the only owner of the name when I registered on the wiki, I could not sruzu register and then everywhere else nebylo understanding of global account on the wiki. I have a domain name registered in: http://www.edgi.ru please leave the name unchanged: "edgi". My name is, all over the internet.
- @Edgi~ruwiki and Edgi: to merge accounts we require the confirmation of the originating and the target accounts. So please clearly sign this request with both accounts. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:30, 18 June 2015 (UTC) June 2015
Monachus.de@global
- Wiki: de.wikimedia.org.org (stewardry • list 'crats)
- Previous renames: current user, target user. Queue: open req, closed req
- Stewards/Global renamers: usurp user, rename user
- Reason: My old username 'Monachus' in the German wikipedia was changed to 'Monachus~dewiki', as Monachus was already occupied in the English WP. Due to that I already had a different name in the English WP: 'Monachus.de'. Therefore I would like to get them all merged under 'Monachus.de', all other affected wikis as well please.
- @Monachus~dewiki and Monachus.de: please sign this request with your Monachus~dewiki account. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 15:30, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
- Confirmation difflink: [2]
- Previous renames: current user, target user. Queue: open req, closed req
- Stewards/Global renamers: usurp user, rename user
- Reason: I want to write my name into my native language and attribute all edits to myself.
- Did you mistake rename for merging 2 account? It's wrong section to request this, go here Steward_requests/Username_changes#Requests_involving_merges.2C_usurps_or_other_complications for merging.--AldNonymousBicara? 20:48, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- Confirmation difflink: [3]
- Previous renames: current user, target user. Queue: open req, closed req
- Stewards/Global renamers: usurp user, rename user
- Reason: The account was transferred globally a few years ago but remains here.
- Are you asking for merging of those accounts? If so, there must be a confirmation from Cêsar that it's your account. --Stryn (talk) 05:04, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Nerêo and Cêsar: please follow the above instruction for us to consider this request further. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:37, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Arne
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (stewardry • list 'crats)
- Old Username: Arne~dewiki (talk • edits • logs • cross-wiki-contribs • userpages • CentralAuth • GlobalRenameUser)
- New Username: Arne (talk • edits • logs • cross-wiki-contribs • userpages • similar names • UV • CentralAuth)
- Previous renames: current user, target user. Queue: open req, closed req
- Stewards/Global renamers: usurp user, rename user
- Reason: I have registered my account Arne@de.wikipedia.org in May 2003. At that time, it was the only account with that name globally. It has been renamed by Wikipedia to Arne~dewiki in April 2015 in process of the new global account scheme. I want to keep my old original name. There is only one other account named Arne which is Arne@ja.wikipedia.org. That account had made 113 edits in total, from which 6 was deleted, on two days: 2005-04-23 and 2005-04-24. No edits since then, so that account seems not to be used anymore. I have made 58 edits with my account, which is a lower number, but I am a regular active user also now and registrated the name first.
- @Arne~dewiki: The username is taken, owns the global account and has valid edits. Please select a new username. --Steinsplitter (talk) 10:47, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
I would appreciate, if someone could relate to my arguments, since I think here is the place for humans to have a look on individual renaming cases in regards of the question if renaming is really justified from a practical human point of view, rather than bureaucratic point of view. Reading the case of account Merry above, it seems to be also in my case, that there hase been an automatically computed decision, from which account would it's username been taken away and which account would have the privilege to keep it's account name as a new global account, and that the criteria of the automatically computed decision was the accounts raw edit count.
Is it right to take me away my account name and give it to an account that has made all of it's edits on two consecutive days over ten years before of today, just because it has made more edits on these two days than I have made distributed over the last twelve years of my accounts existence?
I would suffer from a forced renaming of my account since I am a regular editor of Wikipedia and use that account. Would the holder of the other account Arne@ja.wikipedia.org suffer from a forced renaming of it's account? I really doubt that, because that account was only used on two days ten years before of now. Probably, it was created as a fun account and the account holder has either forgotten it's existence and/or has no access to it anymore. Propably, the account holder of Arne@ja.wikipedia.org would never know about the privilege of his japan local account being transferred to a global account, because he has forgotten the existence of that account, while I, as a regular editor who uses it's account would suffer from taken my username away. Would that make sense, would that be fair? --Arne~dewiki (talk) 08:36, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Before making such a request you should at least notify the user who owns the global account about your desire to usurp it and wait for their answer. P.S. The new account Arne at dewiki was created at 1 May, so the user may be in fact aware of globalization, and regularly log in. Ruslik (talk) 19:46, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- I left a message on the user diskussion page https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E8%80%85%E2%80%90%E4%BC%9A%E8%A9%B1:Arne . Maybe the staff users can email the user directly and check if the email gets delivered. That the user Arne@de.wikipedia.org has been created on May 1 maybe was due to my own login as user Arne on de.wikipedia.org. I can still login as user Arne on de.wikipedia.org. After login, I get redirected to being user Arne~dewiki. But if the user suddenly now would say oh my account is so valuable to me after ten years of inactivity I would not let count that. --Arne~dewiki (talk) 15:26, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Ruslik0: Sorry, but i have to disagree. The user has 100 valid edits on jawiki (more than Arne~dewiki). We generally not allow such usurpations and i seen no reason for a exception here. --Steinsplitter (talk) 05:01, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- Steinsplitter: The exception is that the target account was created later, used minimally, and inactive for quite a long time. The unification decision was made with a (perhaps overly) simplistic ruleset, and in these edge cases where the calculation would have benefited from further fine-tuning (such as taking into account creation date and last edit) is where global renamers and stewards must apply discretion for enhanced user satisfaction. While balancing the need for unification, our approach should work towards maximum retention of our existing users. Arne~dewiki's arguments are compelling: the jawiki user will not miss their inactive name and would probably understand, in interests of fairness, we should restore it to the user who has used it for longer, and more regularly. –xeno 14:12, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Ruslik0: Sorry, but i have to disagree. The user has 100 valid edits on jawiki (more than Arne~dewiki). We generally not allow such usurpations and i seen no reason for a exception here. --Steinsplitter (talk) 05:01, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Ruslik: The creation of the new local account de:Benutzer:Arne on 1 May is a bug, User:Arne@dewiki himself created this local account by logging into his old user name. See also de:BD:DerHexer#Antrag auf Rückumbenennung von Arne@dewiki zu Arne and the creation of the enwiki account en:User:Arne@dewiki just one minute after that (Special:CentralAuth/Arne@dewiki). In these cases, there isn't a log entry and also no Login Wiki account is being created. So, this is no argument and the other user still is globally inactive. He also doesn’t react on his own jawiki talk page and surely won’t ever use the account again. So, possible activity can't be a reason here, also is that account a younger one.
- The only reason can be the edits on jawiki. But I think, the other facts can be a good reason for re-renaming. What if User:Arne@dewiki makes hundreds of further edits in the future, while the other user remains inactive? Then there would be no edit count argument anymore, and he doesn't have so much less edits than the other user also now. And it is the only argument, the scheme doesn't prevent to take account of also other valid arguments. Here are some other arguments:
- 1st he has the older account (it has been the only account globally at that time), 2nd he has been active since 12 years under that name, while the other user has only been active on two days, 3rd the other user is inactive since 10 years, doesn't react at all and possibly will never ever edit again with the account.
- Is there a problem with having the jawiki edits at an account name User:Arne@jawiki in the future? The edit count is now the only argument in the scheme for non-sysops, because it would be too difficult for automatical rename to use also other arguments like how old the accounts were. And sysops weren't renamed, even if they have less edits than other users. So you see, that also other arguments count in that case. Just about 100 edits forever aren't so very many, so it isn't a very good argument here. If there were hundreds or thousands edits on jawiki, this would be another case, but then the user would also have been active for a longer period. --Winternacht (talk) 12:04, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- I left a message on the user diskussion page https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E8%80%85%E2%80%90%E4%BC%9A%E8%A9%B1:Arne . - I left a message here for Penn Station, perhaps they can advise if this is okay to proceed per traditional ja.wp usurpation guidelines. –xeno 14:00, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- On hold till 22 July 2015 (pending user reaction). Ruslik (talk) 20:20, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- For the sake of 50 edits difference and no rights with which to contend, and with that period of (in)activity, I personally would think that we could rename the other account in favour of the active user. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:43, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
- By the way: Now there are no 50 edits difference anymore. --Winternacht (talk) 22:05, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
And here you see that he himself created the new dewiki account: m:Special:CentralAuth/Arne, dewiki 1. Mai 2015, 12:52:37, log entry at Arne~dewiki, 1. Mai 2015, 12:52:37, same date and time. --Winternacht (talk) 22:17, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
ArchReader@global
- New Username: Lingzhi (talk • edits • logs • cross-wiki-contribs • userpages • similar names • UV • CentralAuth)
- Previous renames: current user, target user. Queue: open req, closed req
- Stewards/Global renamers: usurp user, rename user
- Reason: For years I was Ling.Nut, Ling.Nut2 and Ling.Nut3. During a mostly non-editing hiatus I kept an account SeviceableVillain, but recently decided that username was 1) too negative, and 2) contracts to SV, which would lead to confusion with SlimVirgin. I pulled ArchReader off the top of my head in a moment. Now would like to have a name that contracts to Ling, but don't want Ling.Nut4 or even anything with the terminal Nut. Consider it a fresh start that still acknowledges the past.ArchReader (talk) 07:04, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
- Reason: Shortening, removing dino from the end of my name.
- Has you notified the current owner of Hypok account about your intention? Ruslik (talk) 19:27, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
- I left a message here but that was for an old request, and possibly not at the correct page, which is likely the one here. I can't find a template, so should I just tell them I want to take their username and link them here in case they object?
- Yes, you should do this. Ruslik (talk) 20:16, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Old Username: Nastasia~metawiki (talk • edits • logs • cross-wiki-contribs • userpages • CentralAuth • GlobalRenameUser)
- New Username: Kiackw (talk • edits • logs • cross-wiki-contribs • userpages • similar names • UV • CentralAuth)
- Previous renames: current user, target user. Queue: open req, closed req
- Stewards/Global renamers: usurp user, rename user
- Reason: I registered in different Wikis on Wikimedia under the name "Nastasia". Because of a Wikipedia project with the Atikamekw (First Nation in Canada), I started to use a new name "Kiackw" and to use this name also in Wikis where I had a "Nastasia"-account. My Nastasia accounts got renamed during the big process in April. I would like to unite all my accounts (Wikimedia, Metawiki, IncubatorWiki, Wikipedia, all languages) under my name "Kiackw".
- Please, login into your Nastasia~smth accounts and by posting on your talk pages confirm that you own them. Ruslik (talk) 19:04, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- Reason: I like to rename my username to Ebrahim if is possible. Thank you --ebraminiotalk 14:21, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Yuvipanda@global and YuviPanda@global
Can I get the two accounts merged into YuviPanda? I got an account rename on enwiki before I knew about SUL.
