Steward requests/Global permissions
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Global rollback for Wutsje
- Global user: Wutsje (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 19 December 2023 19:44 UTC
Hello, I'd like to request GR (again). For the past half year (link) I've spent a lot of time and energy patrolling changes on all small WMF projects (and on some not so small ones), reverting non-constructive edits, including cross-wiki spam, sometimes requesting pages to be deleted. My most important sources of information are the Meta abuse filter log and practically all local recent changes pages, which I investigate on a rotating schedule, concentrating on undesirable edits other patrollers have missed. I am and have been a sysop on commons, w:fy and w:nl for many years and I am also a former steward. Of course I'm familiar with the GR policy. Thanks, Wutsje (talk) 19:44, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

Global rename for EPIC
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)
- User: EPIC (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 18 December 2023 16:31 UTC
Hello there, I am EPIC, and I have Swedish as my mother tounge with advanced knowledge of English as well as some knowledge of Norwegian. I have been a registered user for 4 and a half years, and an administrator on the Swedish Wikipedia for a bit over 3 and a half years.
I am applying for the global renamer rights mostly to help out with the renaming requests on the local page on svwiki for requesting username changes. Probably I will also help out with requests done using Special:GlobalRenameRequest and at Steward requests/Username changes. I am an active patroller at svwiki and quick to handle requests, and on svwiki we currently have one global renamer, which means it will not be an overload.
I have read the Global rename policy as well as the Global renamers policy page, and I am fully aware of the responsibilities as a global renamer, and therefore I am ready to take them. With that being said, most of my use of the renaming tools will go towards local renaming requests as well as here on Meta. EPIC (talk) 16:31, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Meiko21
- Global user: Meiko21 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hello, I have recently had to use VPN and Proxy to contribute because the internet connection where I live is inherently poor and often intermittent. Because of using VPN, many times when I access projects I cannot edit them (Except for Vietnamese Wikipedia). I wish I was granted this permission so that I can contribute to many global projects of the organization. Thank you! --Meiko 10:04, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
- We would need more details and it would likely involve us needing to speak about details you would not want public. Either a UTRS request or an email would be appropriate. -- Amanda (she/her) 15:54, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Ansony89
- Global user: Ansony89 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am an extended confirmed user of Chinese Wikipedia and English Wikipedia, and a rollbacker of Chinese Wikipedia. In addition, I edited content on French and Japanese Wikipedias a lot recently, so a single local IPBE cannot meet my editing needs. Since I live in mainland China, I have to use a VPN entirely to edit (or even access) Wikipedia article and any other Wikimedia related pages. And when I'm using a VPN, I'm often blocked from editing due to my IP address. And the IP addresses I use are usually blocked globally, not just locally. So I am requesting global IPBE permission, thank you! --Ansony89 (talk) 16:07, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- After reviewing their global contribution, I think it is appropriate to grant GIPBE. Thanks. --SCP-2000 13:22, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Ansony89 are you aware that GIPBE does nothing against local IP blocks? Are you facing only global blocks? zhwiki generally blocks locally just like enwiki. — xaosflux Talk 16:10, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- I know, thank you for reminding me. Although this is true, if I obtain GIPBE, it will be easier for me to edit Wikipedia in different language versions. Even if this is not necessarily useful, it will allow me to better contribute to Wikimedia. If I frequently edit certain language versions of Wikipedia, I would apply for an additional local exemption. I obtained enwiki's IPBE not long ago. Since my IP address is not permanently fixed, I occasionally encounter global blocks. But because sometimes the IP address I have used for a long time is suddenly blocked globally, I have to find another more secure VPN. Anyway, thank you for your reminder and help! Global IP block exempt for Jasskurn
- Global user: Jasskurn (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I'm located in the UK. I use a VPN and therefore can not edit. I'm asking for an exemption for the following reasons. The reason I use a VPN is due to British Legislation - [Powers Act 2016] which is now coming into effect. As the Wiki page shows, the legislation forces British ISP's to record and store for 1 year, all internet traffic metadata. The data is in practice easily accessible by a vast range of British organisations from National Crime Agency to the Welsh Ambulance service. An effective loophole means the data recording rules don't apply to VPNs. I have personal reasons for not having my wiki editing to to be recorded. I also do not trust my ISP to securely store this data. I'm am happy to explain the personal reasons if they are not recorded here.
All previous data I have added is linked to contributions to OpenStreetMap, and OpenStreetMaps use of wikidata and commons for extra info links. My account on OpenStreetMap is JassKurn , thanks, --Jasskurn (talk) 16:16, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for Just lihl
- Global user: Just lihl (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am a Chinese Wikipedia IPBE User. But because I had to use VPN for editing, I encountered a global IP ban.According to WP: GIPBE, I'd like to apply for global IP blocked exemption (GIPBE) .Because...
1.(+)My mother tongue is Cantonese.
2.(+)Having a local IPBE on zh.wikipedia.org.
3.(+)Having a medium-sized Mediawiki architecture wiki patroller.For details, please visit mcbbs.wiki.
4.(0)Ability to write entries. Will fall back.
5.(-)No AUTOCONFIRM and EXTENDEDCONFIRMED.
I also sent an email to stewards@wikimedia.org.

Global IP block exempt for SteveLLL
- Global user: SteveLLL (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am a user from mainland China, and I can only access Wikimedia using a proxy. I have a block exemption on the Chinese Wiki, but I still need the block exemption to edit Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, etc.--SteveLLL (talk) 11:49, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- You appear to be making contributions on projects such as commonswiki as recently as today, have you resolved your issue? — xaosflux Talk 13:01, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- The IP of the proxy I use is sometimes blocked and sometimes not, but once it is a blocked IP, switching routes does not take effect (such as now). So I still hope to get an exemption from the IP block so I can contribute as usual.— SteveLLL (talk) 08:53, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
