Steward requests/Global permissions

This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.

}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Global sysop for Fehufanga

Not ending before 1 February 2024 13:17 UTC

Hi, I'm Fehufanga. I'm an active SWMT patroller, sysop on simplewiki and idwiktionary (itself a GS wiki). I often find the need to use admin actions on GS wikis such as deleting pages and blocking users, so I am here to request Global Sysop rights. Thank you for your consideration.--*Fehufangą✉ Talk page13:17, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Global rename for Ingenuity

Not ending before 19 January 2024 16:07 UTC

Hello! I'm Ingenuity, an administrator on enwiki, and I'd like to request this permission mainly to deal with unblock requests (though I may assist with the general queue as well). Our unblock backlog has been growing for a while now, and many of the requests require a rename to handle. I have a good understanding of both the global rename policy as well as enwiki's local username policy. Thanks, Ingenuity (talk) 16:07, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Bradv

Not ending before 21 January 2024 03:33 UTC

I am an administrator, checkuser, and oversighter on enwiki and I would like this right to be able to help with unblock requests. Currently, requests involving a rename are the only ones I cannot help with. I am familiar with the global and local username policies. I hope it's not a problem that I have had very little involvement on other wikis, but if it helps I am trying to learn both Spanish and French. Thank you for considering me. – bradv🍁 03:33, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Jasskurn

I'm located in the UK. I use a VPN and therefore can not edit. I'm asking for an exemption for the following reasons. The reason I use a VPN is due to British Legislation - [Powers Act 2016] which is now coming into effect. As the Wiki page shows, the legislation forces British ISP's to record and store for 1 year, all internet traffic metadata. The data is in practice easily accessible by a vast range of British organisations from National Crime Agency to the Welsh Ambulance service. An effective loophole means the data recording rules don't apply to VPNs. I have personal reasons for not having my wiki editing to to be recorded. I also do not trust my ISP to securely store this data. I'm am happy to explain the personal reasons if they are not recorded here.

All previous data I have added is linked to contributions to OpenStreetMap, and OpenStreetMaps use of wikidata and commons for extra info links. My account on OpenStreetMap is JassKurn , thanks, --Jasskurn (talk) 16:16, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Denny

I am on mobile using Google One VPN, which is blocked as an Open Proxy, if I understand it right. If I don't use the VPN, I am blocked as being a T-Mobile user. I am a long term contributor, and find it frustrating that I cannot contribute on the device I use increasingly most to read Wikipedia. --denny (talk) 23:39, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Denny VPN blocks are expected, T-Mobile blocks should only be hitting logged out users. If you turn off your VPN and log on you should be able to contribute (may need to wait for any autoblock/cookie blocks to expire in 24 hours). — xaosflux Talk 00:13, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse filter helper for XXBlackburnXx

Not ending before 25 January 2024 08:59 UTC

Hello! As an local abuse filter editor (and administrator) on the Dutch Wikipedia, it would be super helpful to see the contents of global abuse filters marked as private so that I can address false positives more easily and see what kind of edits are already covered by them. Ofcourse I'm always available to help other projects or suggest any changes when needed, though that will work best when assigned with the right. Thanks :)! --XXBlackburnXx (talk) 08:59, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
