Synchbot request[edit]

Handtekening[edit]

Global Rollbacker permissions[edit]

Thank for your explanation about what I should do for getting the global rollbacker permission. I will wait to get more experience. I would like to note that Snowolf made a small mistake as he said “none of the wiki have entrusted him with the rollback rights”...I am entrusted with a Rollback Rights in the Portuguese Wikipedia.

Pwll tywod = Sand pit[edit]

Hi there. A new Wikipedian tried out a few edits on the Welsh Sandpit (Pwll Tywod) here. You then rolled it back! Ah, well, you didn't know. I've reverted the change, so I hope he won't be to disgusted ! Thanks, anyway for keeping a hawk-eye on things on the Welsh Wikipedia. 78.147.38.73 17:25, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fundraising translation feedback[edit]

Hey Wiki13,

I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.

To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Dutch using This Link

Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.

Many Thanks

English/Dutch translations[edit]

Dear Wiki13, I am contacting you to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Robell and I have recently joined the Wikimedia Foundation as a part of the fundraising team. My work will be focused to a large extent around translations. I am very interested in finding engaged Wikipedians, such as yourself, who would be interested in contributing with their time to translate shorter messages from English to Dutch. We have for example recently put up a 'Thank you letter' from the Wikimedia Foundation's ED Sue Gardner for translation, using the translation extension. You can find the letter here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Fundraising%2FTranslation%2FThank+you+email+20131202&action=proofread&filter=translated&language=nl I would be most grateful to get your help to translate/proofread this letter in order to develop a quality translation in Dutch. Furthermore, in addition to using the translation extension, my aim is to develop a few personal contacts to whom I can reach out with potential questions regarding a particular word choice etc. As an engaged Wikipedia translator, I would be very interested in hearing your view on this.

Thank you very much for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Jessica Robell Global Fundraising Coordinator Wikimedia Foundation

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.

If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.

I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:24, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Superprotect letter update[edit]

Hi Wiki13,

Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.

Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.

I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.

Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.

Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.

Thank you for your engagement on this issue, and please stay in touch. -Pete F (talk) 18:23, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Global CSS/JS migration[edit]

Hello Wiki13. You have global scripts in User:Wiki13/global.js, which you import using your local JS pages. Since August 2014, your global.js and global.css pages are loaded automatically on all wikis. Although you requested cleanup via GlobalCssJs, there are still several pages left like simple:User:Wiki13/common.js. Do you want me to fix this by removing the imports from your local pages using Synchbot (without changing any other content)? —Pathoschild 02:10, 07 July 2015 (UTC)

Global bans[edit]

Thanks for letting me know that. If it is indeed true that any of us can be banned for good for reasons of vindictiveness, I think the users -all users- need to know about that.

I think wikimedia may lose many of us. Jcwf (talk) 23:35, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jcwf:: if you had read the WMF Global page furher that's not the case. While it may be true that WMF Global Bans will not be lifted under whatever the circumstance is, the SuSa (Support and Safety) team carefully reviews global ban requests sent to them by users. If they deem it warranted the user will be banned by them. They also have the option to do other office actions instead, or nothing at all. --Wiki13 talk 09:34, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:25, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

About your warning[edit]

Actually most of the things on meta are just policies that should not be changed without community consensus, and a community consensus is reached with a RfC, so actually I may have no other things to edit other than in ENWP(my home wiki). But thanks for your reminder. ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) 23:21, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As another person already pointed out to you on your talkpage, RFCs are usually done here by people with good understanding of Wikimedia and its projects. This is something what you are really obvious lacking. Rather then focusing on the content aspect, you focus on the policy aspect of those projects. This behaviour will get you blocked if you continue down this path.
And another piece of advice, please refrain from calling experienced contributors out on your behaviour. Especially when they valid point backed by facts. Because as he points out the recent requests here on Meta-Wiki as well on then English Wikipedia are hat collecting. You have no use for them at this point in time. Congratulations, Wiki13! You now have the rights of an administrator on Meta-Wiki. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-adminconnect. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta. Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List of administrators and the Template:List of administrators. You're also allowed to subscribe the metawiki admins private mailing list. You can restrict it after event if you wish (when it's update would not be so critical) but not now.85.238.102.83 18:21, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I removed the protection for now. If it continues like it did before it will most likely be protected again. Wiki13 (talk) 18:38, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see. However such frequent (vandalic) interest to that page as it's happened last days looks quite strange (as such topics were not so "popular" from it's started). It looks like someone consciously trying to "knock me out" from editing with such "from afar" way (as organizing anonymous vandalic actions for someone, like you, to decide restrict a page edit for all unregistered contributors... And me). I already met such behaviour before (like when I starting to edit any page - someone start to anonymously vandal a page I started to edit... Then someone restrict a page and done - I can't edit it more despite I've done positive edits only). Anyway thanks for your time and fast reaction. Hope noone will return to mischief it more. At least till events pass.85.238.102.83 06:18, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IP range block[edit]

Hi, I've got blocked today with the following reason:

Your IP address is in a range that has been blocked on all Wikimedia Foundation wikis.
The block was made by Wiki13 (meta.wikimedia.org). The reason given is Open Proxy/Webhost: Contact stewards if you are affected.

I am using company laptop which is connected to a VPN. Can you please unblock the access, and help to prevent this happening again. Wolfmartyn (talk) 10:55, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Wolfmartyn, this IP is not targeted towards you in particular. The IP you gave me indicates that you somehow use Zscaler as some sort of private network. Since these kinds of networks are often abused, they are blocked as open proxies. I have now adjusted the block, so that only anonymous users will be affected and logged-in users will not. If you still have problems, please let me know. Wiki13 (talk) 11:23, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My IP Blocked without any reason[edit]

I see that my IP is blocked and I am unable to contribute in Wikipedia. I have a dedicated Broadband connection and not shared with anyone. This is not a Cyber Cafe. I believe that it is blocked by mistake. Hence request you to unblock it.

Start of block: 14:33, 11 May 2021 Expiry of block: 14:33, 11 May 2024 Your current IP address is 165.225.122.169 and the blocked range is 165.225.0.0/17. Please include all above details in any queries you make.

If you believe you were blocked by mistake, you can find additional information and instructions in the No open proxies global policy. Otherwise, to discuss the block please post a request for review on Meta-Wiki or send an email to the stewards OTRS queue at stewards@wikimedia.org including all above details.

Action requested[edit]

So: I am heavily involved at English Wikinews. We have some (slowly moving) voting going on at Request for Permissions. Specifically: we are hurting for Bureaucrats.....and badly. Particularly: We need some permission ADDED for some users and some permissions TAKEN AWAY for some user. Our 1 'Crat has been unresponsive for some time now. Any chance of you taking a look over there, please??--Bddpaux (talk) 17:09, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I get it: you guys are slow to act on these if that project has 'crats.....but: we only have 1 and she's been largely out of the loop for a LONG TIME NOW. Can we get you over to our place at English Wikinews to take some action, please?--Bddpaux (talk) 02:08, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A globally blocked user attacks my pages[edit]

Hey,

please block this vandal - https://pl.wikimedia.org/wiki/Specjalna:Wład/Jajnik_z_Tarnowa, it's LTA, probably Wikinger. It attacks my pages on the Wikimedia Poland wiki. Thanks in advance, Jamnik z Tarnowa (talk) 14:50, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How we will see unregistered users[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Blocked without reasons[edit]

Hello Wiki 13,

I have been blocked a few months ago (11th May 2021) without any reason by you (user "Wiki13"). I can see from a warning pop us message that the reason of being blocked is "Open Proxy/Webhost", but I dont know what does it mean. My proxy address is 165.225.194.191.

I require my address to be unblocked.

Thanks in advance for your help. Andrea

Hi @Andrea19993:,
First and foremost my apologies for the late reply. I have quite busy in real life recently, so that means Wikimedia projects were on a lower priority.
Your IP belongs to a provider which offers proxy services. Since these services are prone to abuse it has been blocked. Please note that this block is not targeted towards you. I have added a global IP block exemption to your account, which will expire automatically when the global block expires. If you need any more help, please let me know. --Wiki13 (talk) 19:29, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Hi!

I have been blocked by you and I don't know why. My numer is 194.59.250.21

Since I am blocked I have not been able to write to anyone but now I can (for a short while I think). Can you help me, please?

Yours sincerely Johan Bengtsson

Hi @Beson:, sorry for the late reply. I have been busy recently. I have checked the IP address you gave me. The IP in question is assigned to a known web hoster / colocator. We block these IP addresses because they are often used to evade blocks or anonynmous vandalizing. I have granted you an global IP block exempt, so you can continue working. Please note this exemption will expire the moment the block expires. --Wiki13 (talk) 14:44, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

blocked[edit]

Hi - I am trying to update the page on "Terrorist Threats". I only wish to add 2 more examples: New York state code and Georgia (USA) state code but it says I am blocked and I don't understand why.

Hello, I already live in mainland China and I must use a proxy to edit. Can I unblock my ip?

The IP address or range 18.166.29.59 has been globally blocked (disabled) by Wiki13 for the following reason(s):

Open proxy/Webhost: Visit the FAQ if you are affected

This block will expire on 13:43, 5 May 2024.

Hi (both) anonymous users,
Since you both placed your block message under the same topic I will try answer both your questions at the same. Both of you browse via proxies that hide your real IP addresses. Normally this is not a big problem, but using the ones you use are prone to be abused by people with bad intentions. These blocks were done following the No open proxies. If possible, try disabling the proxy and then create an account or create it on a non-blocked IP address. You should then be able to contribute with that account globally despite the global block. If that is not possible, please read the instructions at our Global exceptions and appeals section of our no open proxies policy to contact the stewards with a request to make a new account. With kind regards, --Wiki13 (talk) 12:04, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Name changing request[edit]

Hello, I sent a request to change my name, I'd like if you could accept it א.ס. כהן (talk) 13:26, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please take a look again?[edit]

Hello! I saw you marked this request as done, but none of these accounts were banned. Perhaps it's better for you to recheck it again? Thank you. ··· 🌸 Rachmat04 · 04:03, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking my IP[edit]

Hi,

I'm admin on hr wiki. You just blocked my IP address (165.225.x.x). I had to turn of Zscaler Client connector just to write you this! Argo Navis (talk) 10:03, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Argo,
As far as I'm aware you shouldn't be affected, as the block is for anonymous users only. This means that logged in users should be able to edit just fine, also taking in account the fact you are admin. You should be exempted locally on HR.wiki aswell, since you are an admin.
