Instructions

SUL finalization

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

How to add an entry here

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~
}}

Example

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
{{SRUC
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here
--~~~~
}}

Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests

Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Requests

Please add new requests at the end of the page. Sections should be titled your username@project name or your username@multiple projects please.

Jborme@global

You will need to finish the migration of the renaming accounts. Matanya (talk) 08:51, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What I was told is that local bureaucrats would lose this ability on 2014-09-15, so meta would handle the remaining after the deadline (see the answer I got at my previous request as linked above). Also a project on which I created an account does not have bureaucrats (wikisource, account created before there was localisations).Cæruleum (talk) 09:10, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You have duplicate accounts for meta for example, you will need to wait until mergeuser is deployed for us to be able to solve such conflicts. Matanya (talk) 15:40, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Done on eswiki, oldWS, fr.b, fr.s, mw.org. On ptwiki I renamed the existing attached Cæruleum account away, since it had 0 edits, and renamed Jborme to it. On qualitywiki I got an error message, surely because the wiki is closed. Apart from that, Jborme remains only on Meta now, where Cæruleum has edits as well. Do you want the existing Cæruleum (with 3 edits) to be renamed away in favour of the other account? --MF-W 15:47, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like not. I marked this as done so it can be archived. --MF-W 19:56, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

123chess456@global

you will need to solve locally on:
  1. arwiki
  2. cswiki
  3. dawiki
  4. dewiki
  5. dewikinews
  6. enwikibooks
  7. enwiktionary
  8. eswiki
  9. fiwiki
  10. frwiki
  11. idwiki
  12. jawiki
  13. jawiktionary
  14. kawiki

  16. mediawikiwiki
  17. nowiki
  18. ptwiki
  19. slwiki
  20. svwiki
  21. trwiki
  22. trwikibooks
  23. trwikiquote
  24. zhwiki Matanya (talk) 14:00, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Local renames are no longer possible by local users as per gerrit:160158. Thus, this is to be done by stewards. Vogone (talk) 15:30, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi User:Chess. So you want your 123chess456 accounts on commons, simplewiki, simplewikt and wikidata to be renamed to "Chess"? --MF-W 15:50, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I've usurped on enwiki, so please change all of my accounts that you are able to to "Chess". I will have to make an usurp request on every individual wiki? Chess (talk) 20:03, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is not yet "global usurpation policy", so I guess you will have to request usurpation locally for now and the bureaucrats will have to ask Stewards to fulfill those local requests. –xeno 20:36, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Per Xeno above, we can't start ignoring local usurpation guidelines, asking local bureaucrats for comment might indeed be the best solution, though we also have to keep in mind that this is atransitional period to SUL finalisation where all these accounts will be forcibly renamed. Done on es.wiki - as a local bureaucrat - and on enwikibooks and enwiktionary per previous precedents. Savhñ 20:53, 15 September 2014 (UTC) And some more (kawikibooks, trwikibooks, trwikiquote, mediawikiwiki, jawiki) based on previous precedents. Savhñ 21:37, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Two issues should be separated here: 1.) The renaming of the remaining 123chess456 accounts who have edits to the new name; 2.) The renaming ("usurpation") of the unattached Chess accounts.
In order to solve 1.), I have just done the following renames: (so please visit Special:MergeAccount)
Chess@commons->Chess (self-usurped)@commons
123chess456@commons->Chess@commons
123chess456@simple->Chess@simple
123chess456@simplewikt->Chess@simplewikt
Chess@wikidata->Chess (self-usurped)@wikidata
123chess456@wikidata->Chess@wikidata
The only remaining 123chess456'es with edits are on Meta and enwiki. That is obviously unsolvable at the moment, maybe you will want to request a merge when that function exists. --MF-W 21:04, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

skydrake@global or skyrain@global or skyfall@global

Skyrain currently already exists on 3 wikis. You can check here whether an account is available cross-wiki. Savhñ 18:45, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What about Skyfall? It exists only in three Wikis, two of them without edits, and the third one with 2 edits and a permanent block for vandalism. May I usurp this nickname? I have 2500 edits as Skydrake.--Skydrake (talk) 08:14, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Secretary@global → VlsergeyBot@global

Done by Pmlineditor. @Vlsergey: do not forget change username in all bot scripts ;)--Anatoliy (talk) 12:30, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not fully done yet. Due to the large editcount, this is still awaiting completion. You can follow the status here. I believe that, while renaming is still in progress, you can't access that account. Savhñ 12:33, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Wolf 80@global

Target name exists in English and Russian Wikipedias, you should usurp they first.--Anatoliy (talk) 20:36, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

When was the last time you tried? --MF-W 16:05, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Filed bugzilla:71384 per YuviPanda from #wikimedia-operations (IRC), maybe on hold? — revi^ 15:47, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A bug seems exaggerated, the renamer should just contact Hoo or Legoktm on IRC. --MF-W 16:03, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This looks ok to me at a glance: None of the local accounts has an extremely large amount of edits or over 100 user pages, so this should be ok. - Hoo man (talk) 15:13, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Aschmidt@global

Note. Target SUL already exists. Stewards need to delete target SUL before.--Anatoliy (talk) 22:32, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see that... @Aschmidt: when finalization occurs you will have complete control over your current name. Are you sure you still want to change it? The enwikibooks and ruwiki accounts will be forced to rename. Ajraddatz (talk) 22:43, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Is that really so? The last thing I have learned about the process of renaming is that suffices will be added to usernames like mine. However, if you are right, Ajraddatz, I would indeed prefer not to rename my account and withdraw my request. Thanks for raising this point, anyway.--Aschmidt (talk) 23:37, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done then, per above. Ajraddatz (talk) 23:56, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.--Aschmidt (talk) 00:20, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Korakys@commons.wikimedia

Sometimes accounts are randomly separated from SULs and all information from them is removed (email, password, etc.). I've renamed the local account so you should be able to add it to your global one. Ajraddatz (talk) 03:50, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, weird. I think I've got a grip on it now, thank you. I don't mind if you delete the broken account if you can. --Korakys (talk) 09:23, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Æ&Œ@global

Done I renamed your accounts with edits (commons, en.wikt, fr.wikt, meta, pt.wikt). Please visit Special:MergeAccount with your new account now. --MF-W 13:24, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, but may I know why the ‘empty’ accounts could not be renamed? --Romanophile (talk) 14:19, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Which need should there be for that? --MF-W 17:33, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I thought that ‘just in case’ would be sufficient, but whatever. --Romanophile (talk) 19:16, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Jan Borowski@global

At first a steward have to usurp the username "Jan Borowski" in Polish Wikipedia, rename "Ślimaczek" to "Jan Borowski" and when all of your accounts are connected correctly we rename you to "Ślimaczek" Amir (talk) 20:00, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Way too complicated. --MF-W 20:04, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
