Instructions

SUL finalization

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

How to add an entry here

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~
}}

Example

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
{{SRUC
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here
--~~~~
}}

Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests

Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Global requests

Two options exist for requesting renames

  1. Use the (new) request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
  2. Utilise the manual process outlined above, and submitted below in this section.

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username@global if you wish to be globally renamed.

Not done. You must make your request using your own user account. Allan Aguilar (talk) 19:08, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mds, please reply. Savhñ 10:38, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Would you please also clarify what is the target account name, as the name in the section heading is different from the name in the template.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:36, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

TUNAHAN KOÇAK@global

Local accounts named Tunahan are already registered on three wikis. Please, choose a different name. Ruslik (talk) 20:26, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@TUNAHAN KOÇAK: ^^

AlbertoBjörn@global

This rename was done per user’s request (global renamers and stewards, see Special:GlobalRenameQueue/request/26/view). I forgot to make a log entry, so I make a note of it here. –Ejs-80 23:01, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requests with usurps and complex renames

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username@project name .

Baffo@global

"The old username is used" is not really a reason for a request for rename. It appears that you are indefinitely blocked on a couple different Wikis. Can you please be more specific about why you are wanting to be renamed? Tiptoety talk 20:11, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Be conflicts. Example: Italian Wikipedia is created by me, but I could not access!
The name GseSro less common and like best. I think that the origin User:Baffo is English, and i did not know this. If you can change the name, thank you.--GseSro (talk) 20:38, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That is probably an instance of bugzilla:39996. They can be renamed away. --MF-W 21:40, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Baffo: please identify how you would like to proceed, otherwise we will close this request as inactive.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:29, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, if possible to proceed! I want change name globally in GseSro: currently, I am only and these 10 days have little time to translate, for this reason I'm not writing about Meta, Wikiquote, etc. In addition my computer is broken! GseSro (talk) 16:54, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Galadrien@global

On hold until the tool to merge SULs becomes available. Ajraddatz (talk) 17:55, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I propose to decline this and process it when SUL merge is enabled. (Looks like it is not going to happen soon.) — Revi 12:36, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pelikana@en.wikipedia (Usurp. request)

Uitgevoerd. Heb je een account op en.wiki die eventueel bij je globaal account toegevoegd moet worden? Savhñ 13:34, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, user:Pepelikana on en.wp could be merged please, ty Pelikana (talk) 13:44, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Pelikana, can you provide an edit with the Pepelikana@enwiki account, so we can confirm you own that account? Savhñ 13:52, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
here you go and ty. Can i do a request for the separated wp.de:user here too? Pelikana (talk) 13:56, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Distyll@it.wikipedia

Neckbone exists on certain projects. If these accounts are yours, please provide confirmation diffs. Savhñ 15:13, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the account Neckbone on commons.wikimedia.org is mine. What should i do? --Neckbone (talk) 23:10, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Neckbone: If you can post a comment, on your talk page for instance, in which the commons account confirms it is you requesting the rename (and preferably the frwiki account as well if that belongs to you) we can go ahead with the renames, bringing all the accounts together under one SUL-free account. Savhñ 13:13, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but wikimedia and it.wikipedia are two different systems, I can't post in "Neckbone" talk page with the account "Distyll", or vice versa. If a way to make it exists, explains to me please, because I ignore it. --Neckbone (talk) 20:41, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I am aware, but we need you to confirm that you own the Neckbone@commons account. For that, please log in to your Neckbone account on commons and post on c:User talk:Neckbone "I am requesting a rename on [[m:SRUC]] for my it.wiki account Distyll". Savhñ 12:55, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Request posted on my talk page :) --Neckbone (talk) 10:52, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

P.ziveri@global

en:User:P.ziveri already exists. Does it belong to you? --MF-W 04:45, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I sent the user an email, waiting for his reply. - εΔω 13:32, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

I declare that the usernames: "P.ziveri", "Pietro.ziveri", and also "ziveri" were ALL created by myself during the last ten years or even more of contributions to Wikipedia. I want my final definitive Username be renamed "p.ziveri" for privacy and practical reasons. I also want to have ALL my contributions from these different accounts/usernames previously created to be merged into the one account/usernmane "p.ziveri". Thank You for your kind and professinal cooperation in helping me solve this conundrum. I will not create another username after this!

Please provide confirmation diffs (saved edits from those accounts) that confirm you own these accounts. Once we can confirm that, we will rename Pietro.ziveri to p.ziveri. Savhñ 11:24, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot provide confirmation diffs due to the change of e-mail accounts with which I created them.
Please Sir, just rename my username "Pietro.ziveri" in "P.Ziveri" with the "Z" letter in upper case: it is more dicreet.
Also beware that the accounts "ziveri" and "P.ziveri" are inactive and they will forever be so since it was ME who accidentally created them!
Thanks for your time and for your patience.
Pietro.ziveri eventually found out his former login on en.wikipedia: here's the evidence. The user sent me an email asking to restore his first request to be renamed from Pietro.ziveri to p.ziveri. - εΔω 14:13, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
The account P.ziveri exists broadly at the moment, and picking things apart is simply painful. The user needs to review all the accounts, and provide a simple solution to stewards about what they want to do. If they want the old account, then maybe they should just pick a clean account name to which the old account can be moved. Otherwise this will need to wait until mergers are available later in the year.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:40, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I believe the cleanest solution is to break the itwiki and it.wikisource accounts and rename them to "p.ziveri" (and then afterwards "Pietro.ziveri" could be renamed to some random string, the only remaining edits of that global account being related to this request). –xeno 17:57, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tsuchiya Hikaru@global

Considering the large amount of edits, and unless Hoo man or Legoktm say otherwise, I fear this request cannot be completed. Savhñ 15:24, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Xavax@global

Placing on hold pending the deployment of AccountMerge, since you have two global accounts and have contributed with both to commons and to other projects. I have updated the confirmation diff, since the one you provided was broken. Savhñ 10:44, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

khaled@global

I have usurped all "Khaled" accounts without any live edits, so you should be able to edit all projects except de.wiki and fi.wiki with your "Khaled" account. I suggest you wait for SUL finalisation and the deployment of AccountMerge to merge these two. Alternatively, we could merge the accounts the old way (all individually) but that could lead to problems. Savhñ 14:13, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Xabier@global (Usurp, SUL)

I have usurped all accounts with 0 edits. Usurping accounts with edits requires a previous notification. I have informed both Xabier@euwiki and Xabier@commons. The latter, with only 1 live edit, should be usurpable in a month. For the Xabier@euwiki account, please wait until SUL finalisation (unless the user replies). Savhñ 10:33, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Note: Xabier@euwiki already done by Savh. Alan (talk) 23:19, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Roberth@de.wikipedia

Which local accounts at Roberth do belong to you? Ruslik (talk) 20:10, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(Please provide confirmation diffs to confirm these accounts are yours) Savhñ 21:49, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@RobertHeinze: actions are required from you.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:36, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RussaviaBot@global

If you just want to take-over his bot's task, I think you can just file local bot approval request to take over. I don't think RussaviaBot run by someone else makes sense. — Revi 10:59, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
With the number of edits, it is probably preferable that the scripts and tasks are taken. We will need to check with the accounts people about the task of moving.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:03, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Revi: Please consider this a migration. Russavia was in dialogue with a number of off-wiki forums about future donations to Commons, this bot was a part of that task. No doubt other bots, such as Faebot may be able to take over some of the tasks, it will be my judgement call alone as to which ought to best be closed out by RussaviaBot. Closing everything down overnight smacks a bit too uncomfortably of damnatio memoriae, which seems inappropriate considering the years of positive content contributions by this user, regardless of other events or disputes. -- (talk) 11:16, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I am missing something, but the link provided here does not state that the account can be usurped.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 16:54, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Comment I think that it would be confusing to have a "RussaviaBot" account operated by Fæ as the user name suggests that the bot is operated by someone other than Fæ. I would suggest that Fæ picks a different user name for his replacement bot. --Stefan2 (talk) 23:57, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    In light of the issue and the circumstance I would think that another bot would be ill-advised to replace RussaviaBot at the same name. As the bot was only active in Commons, I think that Commons can resolve this issue, and the name is not generic for a role, it is aligned with a user. It just gets ugly moving the account aside to put in a new account with the same name as the account will need rights approved etc.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:32, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This helps, but can you please also login at no.wikipedia as User:Mds and post a message on your talk page there confirming that you requested a rename (just to be sure)? Thank you.
