Global sysop for Operator873
- Global user: Operator873 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 11 July 2020 02:18 UTC
Greetings and salutations. I'm requesting the global sysop toolkit in order further expand my efforts against global spam, LTAs, and, occasionally, low level vandalism. I have found a lot of pleasure in seeking out hidden spam links and combating spambot activities. The bulk of my xwiki activity is related to this end and therefore does not reflect actual edits as evidenced by my frequent requests on SR/G. However, with the global sysop tool set, I'd be able to take more direct action on the items I find. I'm currently a Sysop and CheckUser on the Simple English Wikipedia and the writer/owner of GlobalSysBot (the Global Sysop Bot). Thank you for your kind consideration. - Support Operator's a very competent and trusted user, to whom the GS toolkit will be very welcome. His contributions to the GS workflow with the GlobalSysBot are great. Though his edits may not reflect that, he's very active crosswiki, mainly fighting spam, which we are always needing help on. Good luck! —Thanks for the fish! talk•contribs 02:43, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support I saw him quickly reverting spam in small wikis. The tools he creates are great, and I hope he will be even more active with the combination of GlobalSysBot and GS flag.--mirinano (talk) 07:22, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Global rename for Nadzik
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)

Hi! I would like to request global renamer permissions. I am an active editor on pl.wikipedia and Wikidata. Recently I've started editing af.wikipedia and joined Small Wiki Monitoring Team. I've read and learned the Global rename policy, I've also read the past requests (both accepted and rejected), in order to familiarize myself with the type of job I would be responsible for. For the moment there is only one polish speaking Global renamer and due to her duties, she has not been active in the last few months. Due to a large number of GLAM accounts on pl.wiki I would also be able to help them locally, as they are usually not experienced users and the thought of META is usually overwhelming for them. I could handle the rename requests as the summer just started and I've got some more free time. I will resign these permissions when they are no longer needed or when I won't be able to use them actively. I hope that my intentions are clear, I would be happy to answer any questions if necessary. Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 11:51, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

- Genuine question: This user is not an admin. Is that a problem for getting the global rename permissions? Trijnsteltalk 20:08, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hello @Trijnstel:, nothing on Global renamers#Membership and for the example, Special:CentralAuth/Phjtieudoc is not sysop, on any wiki, but he is Global renamer. Regards. —Eihel (talk) 01:16, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support -- Sounds like a great candidate to me! -- Dolotta (talk) 20:02, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- Question: Hello Nadzik, Glad to see this nomination. Could you please show any examples where you have helped with rename request or those GLAM related request on plwiki? Also could you please link where those local GLAM related request on plwiki are handled. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 06:40, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi @1997kB:, nice to see you in yet another place! I haven't had a pleasure to help any accounts just yet. Plwiki is in a interesting situation, as there used to be a page where one would contact local bureaucrats, but it hasn't been in use since 2014. It depends on a workload, but if it was necessary, I guess we could think about bringing it back to life (like enwiki page dedicated to that). Right now accounts are mostly reported to Administrators' Noticeboard and are warned with this template. Recently we had a big discussion on plwiki about the names of the accounts that are created (some of them use names of the GLAM institutions that they represent, which is against our policy), which sparked after the official account of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland was blocked for not following our policy. Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 11:06, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support Fatima Al Khalidi (talk) 01:23, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Neutral Although there's no red flags, but I also don't see anything in favour despite the need of linguistic diversity in our team. I usually look for some experience in renaming related areas or sysop so that they can use rename with those rename blocks—both of which are absent here. Also on the one side you referenced that big discussion but you didn't even participated in it, which to me is not satisfying. BTW thanks for the answer to question though! ‐‐1997kB (talk) 14:58, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

I don't understand. I am suposed to be blocked since 26 March, but I could make edits until yesterday. Please unlock me, I have very important edits to do, thanks, --Edouard2 (talk) 06:28, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Edouard2:You have GIPBE flag now. I think you should request a local IPBE because you must be affected by a local hard block which GIPBE cannot bypass. --Hamish 03:07, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

- @Qydera: Hello, why do you need an exemption for that? --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:28, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
I was automatically blocked with no further notifications on the Commons the IP was blocked, its just to keep my last pledge to someone, hehehe, his file was on there Qydera (talk) 10:33, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Not done If your IP was blocked at commons, you need to contact a Commons administrator to sort it out. The best thing is to email info-commons@wikimedia.org and mention the details (your accountname, IP address, block ID and other details displayed in the blocked notice). --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:30, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

2FA Tester for Padre 4UJ
- Global user: Padre 4UJ (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Discussion: I'm not sure that I need 2FA but I received a notice from my password managr that Wikipedia had 2FA available now and I always thing that security is very important. I have an app included in my manager that allows secure 2FA generation and think that I should be allowed to use 2FA.
<Add an explanation here>, thanks, --Padre 4UJ (talk) 10:31, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
