This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback, global sysop, global rename, …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).
Please note that Global rollbackers discussions are not votes. Comments must present specific points in favor of or against a user's approval.
Instructions for making a request
Before requesting, make sure that:
You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
|status = <!-- don't change this line -->
|domain = global <!-- don't change this line -->
|user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions, no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.
Hello, I'm asking to be flagged as a global rollbacker. I actively use vandalism fighting tools such as Huggle, particularly on ruwiki. I want to transfer my antivandalism experience to other Wikimedia projects, but lack of this flag does not allow me to use these tools to the full extent (as they usually require this permission). evs💬03:51, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, but this tool does not have enough functionality for me, in particular for viewing diffs or the contribution of users. Huggle is much more advanced than SWViewer, but requires the rollback flag to work properly. evs💬10:03, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
According to the global rollback policy users must be demonstrably active in cross-wiki counter-vandalism or anti-spam activities and make heavy use of revert on many wikis for consideration.
At the moment your x-wiki activity is quite low. It would be great if you started to transfer your antivandalism experience to other projects without this flag. SWViewer and TwinkleGlobal might be helpful tools to start with. --Johannnes89 (talk) 10:18, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's the problem: In order to start a cross-wiki activity I need the rollback flag: Huggle doesn't work without it. SWViewer and Twinkle are much less functional (for example, SVWiewer doesn't show the result of undoing edits). I can work in SWViewer for a while to show my experience with antivandalism in various wiki's, but I would still like to use a handy tool for myself evs💬17:52, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As a matter of fact SWViewer does show the result of undoing when you open it up in your "notifications". In general I don't know of any wiki that grants rollbacker rights preemptively, without demonstrated experience; so I don't see why globally this should be different (with the relevant experience being cross-wiki reverts). ~~~~ User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)17:58, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. But assumed that my experience of rolling back vandalism on ruwiki might show my willingness to work with them in. If not, I can work in an uncomfortable for me tool for a while to show it. The undo feature is mainly needed when you need to undo several vandalized edits made in a row (when the standard interface only allows you to undo the last edit). evs💬18:05, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Using rollback on projects in languages you don't speak can be quite different from using it where you understand all the changes, so I (and probably others too) would like to see some experience in that area first before entrusting somebody with this tool. Note that the global rollbacker group also includes other permissions apart from rollback, such as being autopatrolled everywhere. Thanks, ~~~~ User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)19:59, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Editing the older version (one before the vandalism), reviewing the changes and saving it with good edit summary could work. This greatly helps in gaining experience in unfamiliar languages. BRP ever23:04, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. I think you need more crosswiki experience. The tools mentioned above can be useful, although, I personally prefer undo button in most cases where there is no rush. Oh yeah, I remember I used to edit the older version and save whenever the filters stopped me.--BRP ever13:21, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.
Hello everyone, I'm Styyx. I've been a global rollbacker for over a year now. I'm an admin on tkwiki since November 2021 and recently became one on gagwiki as well. During my time as a GR and also before that, I patrolled small wikis and some other projects with SWViewer and made frequent requests at GSR, mostly fighting cross-wiki spam but also vandalism. Global sysop right would reduce the time it takes for uncontroversial deletions and blocks. Thanks. ~StyyxTalk?^-^21:09, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello everyone, I am Adel Nehaoua. I have been an administrator in Arabic Wikipedia since 2020-12-06 (almost 2 years) and in Arabic Wikisource since 2021-8-15 (more than a year now). I am a rollbacker on FrWiki and other projects, I am willing to fight against inter-wiki spam but also vandalism. The global sysop right helps me contribute effectively to non-controversial deletes and blocks. Thanks. Nehaoua (talk) 20:07, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Seems misguided. No experience in areas this is intended to be used in I can see (I am willing to fight against inter-wiki spam but also vandalism – are you just willing to or are you doing so already?). ~~~~ User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)08:52, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
When you give someone global rename rights, please add them to the list of global renamers and ask them to subscribe to the global renamers' mailing list.

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewardswikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.
If you want to edit the Chinese Wikipedia, usually global IP block exemptions will not help you. Please see this instruction to request a local IP block exemption.

Hello, I'm living in a country where the project can be blocked, I regularly connect with a VPN. Would it be possible to obtain an exemption from IP blocking in order to be able to continue contributing? Thanks, --Martin-78 (talk) 16:15, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
