Global rollback for Glaisher
- Global user: Glaisher (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I would like to apply for global rollback as I have been active reverting vandalism and spam globally for several weeks. The rollback tool is more efficient than manually undoing and twinkle so this would make it much easier to revert nonsense/spam edits. Plus there are still some wikis where I have to install my global.js so TW is not there when needed most. --Glaisher [talk] 16:47, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Global sysop for Jafeluv
- Global user: Jafeluv (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hi all, I'd like to reapply for global sysop rights. I was first granted GS in 2010 and was made a steward in 2011, but I eventually gave up both rights (and crosswiki work in general) in 2012(logs) to focus more on real-life obligations as well as a couple of big projects on my home wiki. Now that I have a bit more free time I've become more active in crosswiki stuff again, including countervandalism, spam hunting and some maintenance work such as image and category cleanup. GS rights would be useful if you feel I can still be trusted with the extra buttons :) Thanks, Jafeluv (talk) 13:11, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Great Brightstar
- Global user: Great Brightstar (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)

Global IP block exempt for Greip
- Global user: Greip (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Why: I haven't done anything that would sanctify this policy, in my opinion. I am merely seeking anonymity while still being able to participate on wikimedia projects.
- What for: Mostly translations on meta, maybe some articles on enwiki (as i have done in the past).
- Why am I blocked: I am using Tor.
(IRC request; neutrally posted on the user's behalf by Nemo 12:15, 7 September 2013 (UTC))
- I am inclined to grant this request. Ruslik (talk) 16:18, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not. He has only 100 edits and I don't really get why he needs to use Tor (anonymity, but he has an account?!). Trijnsteltalk 14:10, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for Chaosconst
- Global user: chaosconst (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I have already been added to Global IP Block exempt list, since here, BUT I still can not edit pages from proxy. Please check your settings? Or there is still something I need to do? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chaosconst (talk) 08:29, 9 September 2013
- Could you please give us the block message you're getting? I think it might be a local hard block or so. A global-ipblock-exempt only circumvents global blocks iirc, so you should also get a local ipblock-exempt. Global IP block exempt for YodelingCowbooy
- Global user: YodelingCowboy (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I have an account on Commons:[2]. As you can see on my list of uploads, I have never uploaded any copyrighted files (all soundfiles are in the public domain), and there has never been any problem with me on any wiki. So I'm asking you to lift the block on my account.I live in an authoritarian staate, so I need to use an open proxy. I don't want them to know who I am and what I do on the internet. Global IP block exempt for Cyrusbot and Cyrus the virus
- Global user: Cyrusbot (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Since a few days, possibly I am suffering from an IP blocking for my bot [| Cyrusbot] and my user [| Cyrus the virus] in Kurdish dictionary. With my Cyrusbot I did nearly 200.000 edits and nearly 100.000 creations, but I had never suffered from such restrictions or blockings. But now I can't do any bot actions neither with Cyrusbot, nor my username Cyrus the Virus. Is there any blocking? Restrictions? [| Cyrus the virus] --88.254.87.249 21:06, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

- Local exemption granted. Ruslik (talk) 12:24, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- @Cyrus the virus: please check if you can edit again with your bot now, if so I'll give you an exempt for your main account too. If not, something else should be wrong. Trijnsteltalk 13:10, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for Andrew_Vi
- Global user: Andrew_Vi (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Sorry to trouble, as same as the other users from China, because of the Internet censorship in the People's Republic of China and Great Firewall of China, I surf the non-Chinese website with proxy (Open proxy: hosting on dreamhost.com), so I can't edit any page on the Wikimedia Projects pages (such as en.wikipedia.org) directly. I have a hosting plan on dh, so I deployed the proxy with it. :D --Andrew Vi (talk) 09:59, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Global editinterface for Danny B.
- Global user: Danny B. (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I already had this permission and it recently expired. Nowadays I'm again in need to edit script, stylesheets, gadgets and messages pages to do the maintenance. Thanks.
— Danny B. 21:26, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Update:
The link provided by Vogone doesn't have a relevance, because it is missing the important context. And that is that the local rights were granted after GEI was granted.
As stated below, I have made 215 revisions to MediaWiki namespace on wikis where I did not have local rights before being granted GEI. And several others to protected stuff or userspace. That's nearly one edit per work day during the period.
When I applied for GEI, I first started to work on Slovak wikis, since they are the closest language to mine. Later on I have been granted admin rights there (so it is just coincidental concurrence of rights). Which obviously doesn't mean I stopped my work there and went somewhere else just to use the right because I have it to show some usage, since it hasn't been fully finished. But I edited on some other wikis too, either the MediaWiki namespace or protected or userspace stuff, both on my own and on demand from local people.
— Danny B. 18:20, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- But that's not the question. The question is whether you truly need them now.--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:26, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- If I didn't, I certainly wouldn't be asking for them.
— Danny B. 18:35, 14 August 2013 (UTC)- But so far, you've provided no compelling evidence that you do (plus, your oppose !vote on Rschen's CheckUser access request on enwiki looks really bad, as you have provided no evidence whatsoever for your claims). Your comments here, in my opinion, show you've changed little since your failed Wikidata admin reconfirmation - also, please explain why you did not notify the granting steward after you received importer rights as requested (since you seem to be done).--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:40, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- Right removed. He seems to be done indeed and he can request it if he needs it again. Trijnsteltalk 22:49, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Beta Wikiversity is in principle the same project like Incubator (where import rights belong to bureaucrats automatically, beside the fact they can be granted and revoked locally, which was set exactly to avoid bureaucracy and rash actions from those not knowing the context and be rather self-sufficient thus flexible instead) - time to time something is being imported there from various projects. So the request was never inteded (thus not requested) for any temporary time frame but for the indefinite one, because it is obviously permanently time to time needed, although not necessarily often. Also, import rights are purely technical maintenance rights (such as editinterface) and are harmless and with no influence on the community unlike for instance global sysop, which is paradoxically obviously much easier to gain although it is way much bigger and potentially harmful power.
— Danny B. 00:09, 31 August 2013 (UTC)- I do not see what is obvious here as you requested the importer right for a completely different reason: "I'd like to ask for import rights on beta Wikiversity to be able to move random Wikiversity pages there from Incubator where people sometimes create and edit them. Thanks." And just as a side note, betawikiversity is more than just an Incubator for new wikis(, at least it pretends to be). Vogone talk 00:23, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- You got the importer rights temporary and Dungodung explicitly asked if you tell them when you were done so the rights could be removed. You never did that and no one ever removed them. If you wish to have them permanently, then post a new request. And regarding your email: I don't care that someone asked yesterday if you could import a page. And I don't like communicating via email while this can be pointed out onwiki. Email isn't transparant. This page is. Trijnsteltalk 11:52, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- To be fair, Danny B. also provided this information here (see the links he gave in his comment above). Greets, Vogone talk 12:40, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

- strong oppose per behavior on Czech / Slovak wikis and failed Wikidata admin reconfirmation. --Rschen7754 21:49, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Strong oppose per Rschen7754. The behavior at that admin reconfirmation was outright unbecoming of a holder of any advanced permissions. In addition, I do not believe Danny really needs it, given the rationale for his previous request was similar to this, but he almost never used the permission at all.--Jasper Deng (talk) 21:52, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

- Question: several users above state that you don't seem to have used your global editinterface permission. Could you kindly provide a couple of recent examples of usage or address the issue? Snowolf How can I help? 23:02, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
- (with edit conflict with MF-W below) According to the statistical data taken from the Toolserver databases, during being in GEI group, I made 215 edits in MediaWiki namespace on wikis where I did not have such permission before being granted the global edit interface permission. I also remember several edits to protected pages (that's hardly trackable to get statistical data easily though) and I assume some edits to user scripts or stylesheets too, as I'm being asked time to time by users to fix or create some stuff for them. According to the same data source, I have 1500 edits in MediaWiki namespace in total and obviously uncounted bunch of edits of protected and userspace as described before.
— Danny B. 00:41, 12 August 2013 (UTC)- Please provide diffs for those (remember, the concern was that you were not using it outside wikis where your sysop access already allowed it).--Jasper Deng (talk) 00:45, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- While that data is useful, it doesn't really address the concern raised, which were actions made with the permission, rather than with your local admin bit. A couple of diffs from earlier this year would be helpful in putting this concern to rest. Snowolf How can I help? 22:02, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

- Like Mardetanha I don't think the Wikidata election has much relevance here. I have been a sysop alongside Danny B. on Incubator for years and there has never been an occasion to complain about abusive behaviour or so; also not, as far as I am aware, about his past use of global editinterface. However, it would be nice to get some examples of the use of that right to see what would be done with it & so that one can't say: "if you don't use it, you can also not abuse it". --MF-W 00:12, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

- as the queries asking for specific examples of usage outside of the wikis where the user has since obtained sysop have gone unanswered and as the user has a history of combative behavior, which in an user of a permission where one is advised to tread carefully given its lack of a true global policy regulating its use is not something I look very favorably upon. Snowolf How can I help? 21:18, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Not done requests by stewards for diffs have not been presented after four weeks, so closing this as incomplete, no further action required. Once clear evidence is presented of a continuing need for GEI rights, please open a new request. — billinghurst sDrewth 16:49, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I don't have any other further information than public records where all diffs are publicly available for whoever on wikis where I have account, so whoever can check the relevant edits in MediaWiki namespace (which I mentioned twice) or .css/.js pages in user namespace on those wikis. I can't provide any other "secret" diffs since they do not exist. I also don't have any idea how to present the "evidence of a continuing need", which in other words is evidence of something from the future, other way then saying that I need it to my work (aka I can't show you my fingerprint on given thing, just tell you that I am going to touch it), otherwise I wouldn't obviously ask (which I also stated). Also, comments from users who supported this request because they knew I am going to use it on their wikis, which might be a sort of such evidence, have been obviously overlooked.
