Global abuse filter maintainer for Xaosflux
- Global user: Xaosflux (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Discussion: (see below)
- Not ending before 11 April 2020 00:41 UTC
Hello all, now that Abuse filter maintainer has gone live following the recent vote, I'm throwing my hat in the ring. I've been an abuse filter editor on enwiki for many years, and have also been active here. I'm currently a global abuse filter helper and have used this to help consult with filters on other projects. It would be easier to be able to directly assist other projects on request (such as this request from sqwiki this week). While I do not enter code changes, I am active on phab regarding discussions in this area. I have 2FA enabled, and have identified to the foundation already. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you for your consideration. — xaosflux Talk 00:41, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

- Support It sounds like this person has the experience to assist in edit filters globally. it's for technical use and not use the right without local community consensus. Well in the example for the sqwiki, it's just one person, not the entire sqwiki. Sure it's for anti-vandalism purposes, and might be endorsed. Can I Log In (talk) 01:24, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Can I Log In: thanks for the support, just to be clear I would not implement an antivandalism filter on a wiki without consensus or, as in this case, a specific request from one of their administrators who could otherwise do it themselves if they knew how. — xaosflux Talk 02:24, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Global interface editor for Joanmp14
- Global user: Joanmp14 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 10 April 2020 00:53 UTC
Hello everyone, I am requesting this permission in order to improve the Wikipedia [1] and Wiktionary [2] interfaces in the Tigrinya language and I want to help these wikiprojects prosper and be more recognized for their respective speakers. I have created the localized Wikipedia [3] and Wiktionary [4] logos for this language and would like to make them public, I also plan to create more logos for this language for other Wikimedia projects in the future. I have experience and knowledge with the CSS mechanism. Thanks, --Joanmp14 (talk) 00:53, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Joanmp14: I think you are looking for m:SRP where I moved your request. Given you only need it for two wikis, I would recommend you make to individual requests for the two wikis you wish them for. I already filed your ti.wikipedia request for you. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 23:57, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose with 643 global edits, and not holding advanced permissions on any project this would be a very excessive permission. — xaosflux Talk 05:13, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose You are doing fantastic work, but these are dangerous permissions that require a level of trust and tenure that needs to be demonstrated before they can be granted. As indicated by DeltaQuad, requests can be made on a wiki by wiki basis where needed. ~riley (talk) 05:16, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose 187 edits in eswiki and 185 in tiwiki --𐐎ℹ𝕜ⅈ𝕭𝒂𝕪ⅇ𝕣 👤💬 08:52, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Insufficient experience in general, this permission is only given to highly experienced and trusted users as this is a very high risk permission. Hope you will gain more experience and apply back in maybe a year time. Thanks for volunteering.Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:19, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Per CM and ~riley. Nieuwsgierige Gebruiker (talk) 14:35, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per Riley and DeltaQuad. However, please don't let this discourage you from working on projects and continuing the good work that you have done so far. Perhaps one day you can re-apply and help out in this specific role, you just need a lot more experience than you have currently. --TheSandDoctor Talk 02:40, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. Concerns with limited experience. -FASTILY 05:45, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Global abuse filter maintainer for *Youngjin
- Global user: *Youngjin (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 15 April 2020 05:14 UTC
Hello there, I would like to apply for a global abuse filter manager permission for two main reasons. Firstable as there are constant vandalism account creating outside Korean Wikipedia to avoid antisproof and Korean Wikipedia Filter #101, Disallows the username patterns creating by Global LTA users (보민개, 대우건설) by creating accounts in other wikis, as well as maintain abuse filters in small Korean wikis except Korean Wiktionary to prevent vandalism at there. I believe I have sufficient experience with abuse filter in Korean Wikipedia. Thanks for consideration! --*Youngjin (talk) 05:14, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- Question: @*Youngjin: what are some specific types of changes that you would see yourself doing with this access? There are a few other options for access as well, especially if you will only be dealing with specific projects or wikisets (e.g. small wikis). — xaosflux Talk 14:50, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- The reason why I indicating the small wiki activities was since there are not enough active administrators in the small wikis, When there aren't active administrator (These wikis doesn't have sufficient amount of active editors either), Having a this tool will be more useful to manage quickly than apply formal temporary RFA to just maintain abuse filter few times. Forget to mention that I want to willing to deal global vandalism with my experiences, such as as Korean LTA vandalism patterns that occurring globally, including users created/active on multiple wikis. Best,--*Youngjin (talk) 23:34, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose @*Youngjin: my understanding is that this group is meant primarily for technical reasons, not as a tool for individuals fighting inappropriate editors. For access to abuse filter management on most small-wikis, along with other tools you could use to combat vandalism such as blocking and protecting, global sysop seems more appropriate - especially if you are trying to help small projects without local communities. — xaosflux Talk 13:14, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Sorry, *Youngjin, but the context in which you would like to use this permission is out of scope of what the user group is designed for. I hope you are not discouraged by this and keep up the good work. ~riley (talk) 17:10, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for comments, since my propose of usage is not appropriate for nature of this right, I'll withdrawn this request.--*Youngjin (talk) 06:05, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Request withdrawn per above ~riley (talk) 06:06, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Renew global interface editor for Krenair
- Global user: Krenair (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 14 April 2020 19:39 UTC
I'd like to extend this original request (followed by this renewal and this renewal and probably another couple of renewals I've lost track of) for another year (or longer) please. I am a long-standing member of the wikimedia technical community, I have +2 rights on mediawiki/* in Gerrit, I'm a Cloud VPS/Toolforge global root, I'm an OTRS agent, a MediaWiki.org admin/bureaucrat, and have probably a few other important permissions that I use with care. One change I remember making in recent months with these rights (that I'll mention specifically due to its nature as a security fix) was covered in phab:T241950. --Krenair (talk • contribs) 19:39, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
