Global sysop for Hasley
- Global user: Hasley (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 12 May 2020 14:46 UTC
Hello everyone! I am Hasley, an active SWMT member in cross-wiki anti-spam/vandalism works. I am a global rollbacker and have sysop-experience on three projects.
Global sysop toolkit would be quite useful for me. I have:
- tagged more than 1,000 pages for speedy deletion using SWViewer up to January. I would like to help with xwiki deletions and SRM/GSR backlog;
- reverted and reported via SRG/#wikimedia-stewards hundreds of LTAs from many GS-projects. Sometimes massive vandals/spambot attacks also appear. I think being able to block them would help tremendously.
My mother tongue is Spanish, I can read an, ast, ca, cbk, co, ext, fr, gl, ia, it, lad [Latin script], lmo, nap, oc, pap, pms, pt, rm and vec. I have carefully read the global policy. Two-factor authentication is enabled. Please let me know if you have any questions. Kind regards, —Sgd. Hasley 14:46, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Strong support Sure, active and trusted in SMWT, good language skills as well as demonstrated need and trust (sysops in multiple projects). Thank you for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:47, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

- Strong support - Great work, fabulous crosswiki matrix, already they are into it (sysop on few projects and GR), they should have the rights/tools to perform their work further. thanks QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 15:43, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- This is one of the good news I saw recently. Hasley deserves to be a Global sysop, because Hasley's activities are very nice and active. I hope that my little support will help you expand the scope of your passion. --Sotiale (talk) 15:49, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

- By the way, I am not concerned about the so-called rapid acquisition of rights described immediately below, as their cross-wiki outweighs these concerns for me. If someone can't be bothered to express valid concerns with a username attached, that indicates to me that this is not too big of a deal. epicgenius (talk) 15:44, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose I have deliberately logged out to write this. My experience of Hasley has been a mixed one but am I the only person concerned at the rapid acquisition of rights going on here?
- Wikiversity adminship just 6 weeks ago (are things that bad there that someone can become an admin with less than 1,000 edits?)
- Meta adminship barely 2 months ago
- Global rollback in November 2019
- MediaWiki adminship in October 2019
- The purported sysop experience is not as great as being made out here. The only content wiki where Hasley has sysop experience is WV, and that was acquired only a few weeks ago. Now we have people tripping over themselves to give extra rights without any worries or scrutiny taking place? 2A02:C7D:3C1A:7300:9C3C:57B0:FD4D:74B5 03:29, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

- Neutral. I don't want to oppose but I'm completely agreeing with anon here. It looks like Hasley wants to get as much rights as possible on different projects. It's not necessarily bad, because it shows that the user is trusted on many different projects, but as the anon pointed out, he only has ~1000 edits on wikiversity and got sysop rights there (and that doesn't really show trust, more like there is a lack of sysops there). I'm sorry if I'm mistaken, but it just looks like the candidate wants to gather as much rights as possible and not help the projects with the tools he already has. I'm afraid that steward rights are next. It's also pretty bad in my eyes because gathering a lot of rights can quickly burn you out and can lead to loosing interest in this activity altogether. If your only motivation in dealing with cross-wiki vandalism is gathering more and more rights - it's not going to end well. It looks like the request for GS will be successfull, so I wish you good luck nevertheless. 91.236.224.41 11:29, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

- Support confidently, I am not really convinced with above concerns raised by anon. Hasley is quite active, contributing immensely and trustworthy enough to hold permissions. I don't see any harm in rapid promotions. Kind regards, — Tulsi Bhagat [ contribs | talk ] 03:47, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for XYZtSpace
- Global user: XYZtSpace (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Discussion: I use a VPN to connect to sites blocked by my school. Although the blocklist does not include Wikipedia, it is more convenient for me to not have to toggle the VPN when I'm accessing blocked sites while editing Wikipedia. I had been a frequent contributor for some time until I lost interest.

Add abusefilter-helper for Supertoff
- Global user: Supertoff (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I would like to understand the actions of private global filters and be able to help users who report false positives about them on frwiki. I am a sysop and an abusefilter editor on frwiki.
Thanks, Supertoff (talk) 13:56, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
- Question: Hi Supertoff, I could have a question for you: Could you describe the next script?
action = "edit" & !("bot" in user_groups | "sysop" in user_groups | user_name in page_title) & page_namespace = 2
- Nieuwsgierige Gebruiker (talk) 14:07, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
- I suggested Supertoff to do this request and I support it, because he is one of the most active users on the false positive reports page. frwiki is one of the biggest wikis where global filters are enabled and we get more and more reports related to global filters these days. Orlodrim (talk) 14:12, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Nieuwsgierige Gebruiker. A test to see if I understand filters ? Ok (I already made some of french filters) : This script is to detect edit on "user's page" when done by user except bot, sysop and page owner. Right ? Supertoff (talk) 15:31, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
- Support You're right. Nieuwsgierige Gebruiker (talk) 16:18, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
