This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback, global sysop, global rename, …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).
Please note that Global rollbackers discussions are not votes. Comments must present specific points in favor of or against a user's approval.
Instructions for making a request
Before requesting, make sure that:
You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
|status = <!-- don't change this line -->
|domain = global <!-- don't change this line -->
|user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions, no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.
Hello! As someone who has previously done quite a bit of xwiki maintenance/anti-vandalism work (primarily as a steward), and wishes to keep helping out on smaller projects as and when the need arises, I am requesting global sysop permissions. This desire has most recently come from my closing of this phabricator task (with my "sysadmin hat" on) and referring the user to potentially reach out to the GSs — I noticed there's as always work to be done on these smaller projects, and I have the experience to help.
For full transparency, I resigned my stewardship due in part to an incident in October 2022 which resulted in the loss of my checkuser/oversight permissions on the English Wikipedia. I regret my actions, and posted a public apology in May of 2023. I again here reaffirm my apologies, and hope my previous positive track record and desire to be helpful makes up for my mistakes. Many thanks — TheresNoTime (talk • they/them) 15:36, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support, but make sure to follow your own advice when needed (especially on taking a break). It's not common for someone to have these many chances from my experience, and I could see a different user being met with a less-pleasant response from the community. Leaderboard (talk) 16:30, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support seems like the issue leading to the previous resignation/removal of CUOS won't be replicated and would be unlikely to happen with GS tools anyway. Trusted overall, mistakes are allowed. – Ajraddatz (talk) 17:34, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Sorry, but I am still hesitant even though it has been a year since the incident. I may support in a year or two (and understand your apology and thank you for making one), but now is too early – maybe at the end of the year I'll consider. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs)10:55, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I honestly don't see TNT being much active in the area that requires this toolset. The motivation here seems to be the declined task but GS/R suggests that the requests are being dealt with promptly. It's not actually lack of trust that concerns me, but general lack of activity on the area.--BRP ever17:26, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When you give someone global rename rights, please add them to the list of global renamers and ask them to subscribe to the global renamers' mailing list.

=== Global rename for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.
Hello everyone. I would like to request global rename permission to assist rename request, specifically focus on the request from idwiki, my home wiki, very many users and i see with several usernames that do not comply with the local policy and directing them to change their name. Bureaucrats are rarely active nowadays and there is only one name changer from Indonesia. I have read and understood the policy. I am also a reviewer and Rollbacker and handle a lot vandals. Maybe I can help complete this task if given permission. Thanks
Question: Thanks for your request. I appreciate your interest in idwiki rename requests. Currently, there is a pending username change request on the idwiki rename venue. Could you please share how you would process this request if you were a renamer? – DreamRimmer (talk) 03:17, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewardswikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.
If you want to edit the Chinese Wikipedia, usually global IP block exemptions will not help you. Please see this instruction to request a local IP block exemption.

The request will be approved if there is demonstrated need for the permission, such as bypassing a global block from someone who is not the intended target.
I have to use a proxy due to local policy, and I hope to be unblocked. I need to add cross-language links to newly created articles and submit my own images to Wikimedia.Thank you so much --Uyiliu2 (talk) 08:37, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The policy here refers to the policy of mainland China. I need to use a proxy to access and edit Wikimedia sites, but my IP is often blocked. Therefore, I hope to be granted GIPBE to avoid being affected. Thanks!--Uyiliu2 (talk) 05:56, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I applied for local IP exemption for the Chinese Wiki and English Wiki. I am from mainland China and had to use a proxy. Therefore, I was banned from all IP addresses. Then I was unable to use Wikimedia Foundation projects such as Wikidata normally. For example, I could not edit interlanguage links.--Uyiliu2 (talk) 10:14, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, good. If you applied for local IPBE on zhwiki & enwiki, you don't need Global IPBE anymore, right? Than you can withdraw this request. --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 10:18, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I didn’t explain clearly before.To give a brief summary, I am from mainland China.I need to use a proxy to access and edit Wikimedia sites, but my IP is blocked. Therefore, I hope to be granted GIPBE to avoid being affected. Thanks!--Uyiliu2 (talk) 10:19, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
