Requests and proposals Steward requests (Permissions) latest archive
This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived by a bot. Click here for a list of archives.

  • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
  • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page[edit]

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

==== User name@xxproject ====
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!--don't change this line-->
 |domain =
 |user name =
 |discussion=
}}
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

  • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
  • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
  • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]").

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of identity[edit]

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to confirm their identity. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also submit the relevant identification to the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Requests[edit]

COPY THE FOLLOWING CODE to the bottom of the appropriate section below:

==== User name@xxproject ====
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!--don't change this line-->
 |domain =
 |user name =
 |discussion=

Administrator access[edit]

See administrator for information about this user group.

  • MediaWiki interface translations are done at translatewiki.net. Please do not request administrator access solely for that purpose; your request will be declined.

  • Stewards: Please use {{Systmp}} for approved temporary requests. Approved temporary access requests are listed at SRAT. Requests are moved to that page by a bot.

Requests for removal of access should be posted at the section below.

For permanent adminship, please provide a link to the local community approval. For temporary adminship please state for how long and for which tasks you need it, and link to a local announcement.

Mogoeilor@lrc.wikipedia[edit]

He has been temp admin since lrcwiki was in incubator, please give him temp admin right for three months, thank you. Mjbmr (discussioncontribs) 07:11, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

In e-mail he asked me how to obtain adminship and I told him to please start a local request. --MF-W 10:07, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
He had created request for crat at lrc:ڤیکیپئدیا:چاست حوٙنە#دیڤوٙنسالاری کاریار موٙگوٙیی لۊر(Mogoeilor) but told them it's not possible to get a crat access for small wikis. I'm saying a wiki can't held without at least a local admin. Mjbmr (discussioncontribs) 01:28, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
It would be correct to say that stewards will consider adminship at this time, and it would be temporary adminship, which would then follow the normal pattern of increasing terms to a year in length.  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:33, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Indeed I was also asked by him about bureaucratship, but told him to seek adminship first. Sigh. --MF-W 19:46, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

could I be a admin of luri lrc for one year? please so thankslrc lori (talk) 14:50, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Done Granted for 6 months to expire on 2016-01-05. Please remember to translate the interface at translatewiki.net only and preferably upload images to Wikimedia Commons. To prolong your adminship, please come back a few days before the status expires or hold a local election if the community grows. Thanks. consensus w:lrc:Special:PermanentLink/24423  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:04, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
so thanks best wishes.lrc lori (talk) 13:42, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Sushilmishra@gomwiki[edit]

Hi gom.wikipedia is new and it needs initial import for modules and infobox i tried to create it but it caused a lot of error so i request for temperory adminship of max 30days only, so that basics of this wikipedia can be designed please consider this request and grant it at the earliest so that task can be finished...tnx... Sushilmishra (talk) 11:53, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

On hold until 5 July (1 week), Could you please put a link to your request page at w:gom:चर्चा:मुखेल पान, so that people will see it. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 12:14, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
did it...actually i need to import infoboxes, templates and modules for which i need it temperorily, i have no intention to extend it beyond specified days...we are facing a problem there that when we are creating infoboxes then it is aligning to left instead of right but codes are all correct... example gom:Goem--Sushilmishra (talk) 08:32, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Done Granted for 3 months to expire on 2015-10-05. no objections to temporary adminship w:gom:Special:PermanentLink/53547, though the rights are granted for technical changes in Special: and Mediawiki: namespace.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:20, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

DerFussi@vi.wikivoyage[edit]

The wiki is almost abandoned and i would check it regularely and take care of it as long as needed. I am currently bureaucrat on Wikivoyage/de,it,en and admin on sv. -- DerFussi 04:59, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

As your user page and voy:vi:Thảo luận Wikivoyage:Bảo quản viên are in english, how much vi do your speak actually? --Krd 09:01, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

I don't speak Vietnamese. But the wiki is de-facto abandoned currently. I wanna help with removing spam/vandalissm blocking spammers and help with features by editing MW napespace if necessary. -- DerFussi 10:20, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Meanwhile i got support of two Vietnamese members. -- DerFussi 08:26, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Pandukht@hy.wikipedia[edit]

--ԱշոտՏՆՂ (talk) 07:20, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Dear Stewards see this. --Vadgt (talk) 08:03, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Guys, we are waiting for your decision about 3 days. There are 19 users (in summary - 100 %), who wish him to see an admin--Hayk.arabaget (talk) 09:50, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
"There are 19 users (in summary - 100 %), who wish him to see an admin", this is the only answer to Pandukht's unethical behaviour. --Vadgt (talk) 23:17, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
First of all, you don't have rights to argue, Vadgt. You are not an active member of Armenian Wikipedia for a very long period. You are not interested in Armenian Wikipedia. Moreover, you with 6AND5 always wish to make chaos in Armenian Wikipedia. In addition, I suggest you to remove our names from your meta page (Շնորհավորում եմ Արմանին, 2015 թվականի մայիսի 12-ին Մեթայում չարիքի Հայկի և չարիքի խմբակային իշխանության վերամիավորման կապակցությամբ:). --Arman musikyan (talk) 02:03, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Who has a right to call an evil another user (չարիքի Հայկի), Vadgt ? Just for this step you have to be blocked in meta. --Arman musikyan (talk) 02:08, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Please answer to your provocation "հայոց պատիվը գետինը տվող անձնավորություններ են" (it means: this users revile armenian honor (meant to 6AND5 and me))[1], Just for this need to block in Armenian Wikiquote. And to Hayk.arabaget this defamation "his main work is in Russian Wikipedia (he was blocked there 10 times during 2 years)"[2]. By the way, 6AND5 offers a solution for the conflict on Armenian Wikipedia. By the way, on Armenian Wikipedia on your user page you write "Այս մասնակիցը ընդհանրապես չի պատրաստվում մասնակցել որևէ Վիքիքննարկման և ծավալել որևէ Վիքիգործունեություն մինչև 9/29/2015" (This user always not going participate on something Wikidiscussion and launch something Wikiaction until 9/29/2015). --Vadgt (talk) 10:32, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Who right to say "this users revile armenian honor" for another user. --Vadgt (talk) 10:49, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
I haven't time for arguing users like you, Vadgt. Instead of it I prefer improve Armenian Wikipedia, if I could find any free time after my job and lessons. --Arman musikyan (talk) 18:15, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Users seem to be bickering and it is quite unseemly and appears to more promote themselves to the good of the wiki. Personally, I am seeing behaviour that seems inappropriate for administrators and is approaching a level of dysfunction.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:57, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
billinghurst, Vadgt is a school boy of 12, who was eager to become an administrator 3 or 4 times, and the community did not vote. You can take it easy, his behavior in meta, in Armenian Wikipedia, as you see, nobody pays attention.--Hayk.arabaget (talk) 17:20, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

StevenJ81@lad.wikipedia[edit]

I have recently attempted to contact both administrators and the community for a variety of issues. See Steward requests/Miscellaneous/2015-07#Request for edit of Ladino Wikipedia Home Page template. The administrators and community have been quiet recently.

This morning, I just started a project to try to improve formatting on ladwiki pages written in the Hebrew alphabet. Almost immediately, I ran across this article, lad:אלכס אוונס a non-notable biographical article written in Hebrew, not Ladino. (See there, where I placed an English synopsis.) Given the possibility of my running into more such articles, I thought I would request temporary administrator status for one month so that I could delete such pages myself, instead of running here each time I need a deletion. I would hope to finish this exercise within one month, but might allow for the possibility of requesting renewal for a second month. I doubt this will take longer than that. I am reluctant to request permanent administrator status because my mastery of Ladino is not very good. I believe my record across wikis is strong enough to be able to justify a temporary grant of the "mop". Thank you. StevenJ81 (talk) 17:51, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Please, put a note at a local discussion board on ladwiki. Ruslik (talk) 20:41, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Well, I'll give it a try. I'll write it in Spanish (machine-translated) and Hebrew, as well as English, because that will probably give me the best chance to be understood.
It's hard to know where to try to do that, though.
I haven't been able to find a more active discussion board than those. Unless you prefer me to try something different, I'll try the last-listed of these four. Does that work for you? StevenJ81 (talk) 21:03, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access[edit]

See bureaucrat for information about this user group.
  • In principle, requests for temporary bureaucrat access are not granted.

Requests for removal of access should be posted at the section below.

CheckUser access[edit]

See CheckUser policy for information about this user group and the policy governing the use of this tool.
  • To request CheckUser information, see Steward requests/Checkuser. This is the place to request CheckUser access.
  • Temporary CheckUser access is not permitted and temporary access is only used by stewards.

  • Stewards: Before granting this permission to a user, please check the current policy and make sure that the user has identified to the Wikimedia Foundation. An email template is available for requesting new users to identify. Breaching these rules may be the cause for removing your steward access.

Aldnonymous@id.wikipedia[edit]

Already identified by foundation on Identification noticeboard. --AldNonymousBicara? 11:17, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Isn't there a minimum time-span this vote needs to be open? Is the vote already closed? Savhñ 11:30, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
Well the rules was there, said "Calon dapat diangkat apabila "suara yang setuju" mencapai minimal 25 dan disetujui oleh minimal 70% dari "jumlah suara" translated : Candidates can be appointed if the "voice agree" to reach at least 25 and be approved by at least 70% of the "turnout", https://translate.google.com/#id/en/Calon%20dapat%20diangkat%20apabila%20%22suara%20yang%20setuju%22%20mencapai%20minimal%2025%20dan%20disetujui%20oleh%20minimal%2070%25%20dari%20%22jumlah%20suara%22. But I do agree if steward want to leave it open for another 2 days so it will be full 1 week.--AldNonymousBicara? 11:35, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
As far as I understood, from my reading of dates, it was opened on the 22nd. If it would need to remain open for a week (7 days), it should be open until the 29th, which is 4 days from today. I believe a week is a reasonable period of time, anything under that being too hasty. Please clear things up, and have it filed when the request is formally closed. Savhñ 11:40, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
True, I was just leaving this here because it's already got 25, but 1 week is a good standard practice.--AldNonymousBicara? 11:42, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
On hold. Request should be open for at least a week, per local guideline: "Pengangkatan melalui mekanisme pemungutan suara yang berlangsung minimal selama 1 minggu". Since it was opened the 22nd at 14:10 UTC, at this point it has been open for under 3 days. I would also recommend to wait for a non-involved user to close this vote, since the timeframe seems to indicate that there is a certain flexibility once the week has passed. Savhñ 12:33, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
Honestly I'm not comfortable at all with such a strong hastiness. --Vituzzu (talk) 13:32, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

w:id:Special:PermanentLink/9531870 community consensus as required for checkusers of 25 or more votes. Yes check.svg Done, congratulations, and please use the rights wisely.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:46, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Oversight access[edit]

See Oversight policy for information about this user group and the policy governing the use of this tool.
  • To request to have content oversighted, ask for a steward in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect and contact a steward privately. This section is for requesting access to the Oversight tool.
  • For contact details about oversighters across the wikis, refer to this page.
  • Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and temporary status is only used by stewards.

  • Stewards: Before granting this permission to a user, please check the current policy and make sure that the user has identified to the Wikimedia Foundation.
  • When a new user is assigned to this group, please add them to this list.

Removal of access[edit]

  • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
  • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted user from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
  • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.

User Arash.pt@fa.wikipedia[edit]

Per this discussion, Persian Wikipedia's Arbitration Committee has dismissed admin for several violations of community policies. As the speaker of ArbCom in Persian Wikipedia, I'm here to ask for admin status removal of Arash.pt. Thanks -- Nojan (talk) 02:13, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Confirm as a sysop and an ArbCom member as well. Thanks ● Mehran Debate 03:26, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Yes check.svg Done --Jyothis (talk) 03:29, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Comment Comment Just to clarify things, Fawiki has no Arbcom and thus has no member and speaker, we have Supervisory board/Oversight committee. But the request was legit Mardetanha talk 03:59, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Actually I did not find a proper equivalent word for "هیئت نظارت", although its policy is almost similar to ArbCom. Thanks for the correction. ● Mehran Debate 04:12, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
