  • The Wiki Loves Women SheSaid campaign launched on 1st October 2021. Please participate by creating an entry about a woman on Wikiquote. All languages welcome !
  • Call for submissions for the online meeting of the Wikimedians from Central and Eastern Europe will hold from 5th to 7th November in case you’re interested in submitting a proposal.
  • The call for proposal for WikiConvention francophone ends on 11th October 2021. Please learn more about making a submission here

  • The WPWPCampaign 2021 closed on the 31st of August 2021. The final result would be announced on the 1st of October 2021. The International team needs your help with cleanup in any language you speak.   • Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 has launched and is running for the entire month of September and October 2021! Do well to participate though here
  • The Wiki Indaba 2021 Core organizing team has announced the Call for session submissions for this year’s conference themed “Rethink + Reset : Visions of the Future”. Submit before 24th September 2021 here.
  • There are openings for Community Facilitators, for Movement Strategy and Governance, fluent in Hindi & Bengali, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and Portuguese. Click here and here to know more about the openings and apply if you fit.
  • The Universal Code of Conduct Phase 2 drafting committee would like comments about the enforcement draft guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC).   • We are happy to announce that Houcemedine Turki from Wikimedia Tunisia has been appointed a member of WMF Affiliations Committee. Also appointed were Wojciech Pędzich from Poland, Linar Khalitov from Russia, and Mardetanha from Iran.
  • Wikimedia Foundation Language team would like volunteers to test this device dynamic translation tool by clicking here, and give them feedback about the tool using this form. Please the sooner the better so that Wikimedia Language team can enable the tool.
  • TIB, an Open Science Lab in Germany, is looking to fill a devOps position. They need someone with experience in OSS / Mediawiki / Wikibase software (ideally). Remote work is possible.   • The Wikimedia Algeria User Group will be hosting this year’s Wiki Arabia conference from 15th to 17th October 2021. It’s a virtual event. You can submit your sessions here till September 15, 2021 at 23:59 UTC.
  • Wiki Indaba 2021 Core Organizing Team is calling for volunteers to work with. Application is through this form and ends on 7th September 2021.
  • Wikimedia Foundation is participating in the winter edition of this year's Outreachy, a three-month paid remote internship in Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), coding and non-coding projects with experienced mentors. It run twice a year–from May to August and December to March. If you would like to share an idea for a project that you would like to mentor or you are not familiar with the program and want to learn anything more about it, feel free to leave a note here or contact ssethi@wikimedia.org.
  • The Call for proposals for Conference and Events Funds has opened on 1st September 2021, and will close on 27th September 2021. You can apply here
  • Finally… The Wiki in Africa team announces that they will run again the #sheSaid campaign to add quotes from notable women on WikiQuote starting october. If you want to join, contact Wiki Loves Women team members, Florence or Candy.

  • The registration for Wikimania 2021 is still open and FREE! Please register click here to register if you have not done so.
  • The Wikimania 2021 scholarship registration ends on 31st July 2021, Please remember to apply if you need to and haven’t done so, as there is no news about extension.
  • Wikimania 2021 team has given updates regarding language support. With the new changes, speakers will not need to provide an English transcription for their pre-recorded sessions.
  • The New Grants Strategy for the Wikimedia Foundation is now in effect. To see the three new funding programs, click here
  • Call for Sessions and Projects submission for Wikimania 2021 Hackathon is now open .This year's hackathon will take place in a 24 hrs format covering all time zones. You can start proposing a session or a project by following the guidelines here

  • The Wikimania scholarship program is now open until 30th July 2021. This year, scholarships will only be issued to Affiliate Organisations, who will then distribute to their respective community members. Read more here
  • The WikiIndaba Steering Committee in conjunction with Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda have announced that WikiIndaba 2021 will be hosted virtually from 5th-7th November 2021. The team would like to understand people’s preferences for this virtual edition, so you can fill this survey by clicking here before 30th June 2021.
  • The Art and Feminism Call for artists to create an original, open-license work which helps to visualize #ArtAndFeminism is open. Up to two selected applicants will receive a 2000$ (USD) artist fee each for their work. This is to celebrate the Global South. The call is limited to artists located in regions where the curators of the call reside: African countries, Brazil, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Deadline is August 16 2021. Learn more here
  • Community Resources is about to start implementing the new grant funding strategy of Wikimedia Foundation, The Community Resources team is inviting the Middle East And Africa wikimedians to come learn more about implementing the new funding programs through Office hours in English scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 30th June from 5.30 p.m -6.30 p.m (UTC), which you can join through here, and another on Thursday, 1st July from 3 p.m -4 p.m (UTC), which you can join through here. The Office hour in French will be held on Thursday, 1st July 5.30 p.m -6.30 p.m (UTC) which you can join by clicking here
  • Wikimedia Movement Strategy Global Conversations on Movement Charter will hold on Sunday, June 27th 2021. If you wish to attend, please register through here. Registration closes Saturday, June 26 2021.
  • This year, a total of 45 communities will be organizing the 2021 WPWP campaign from about 40 countries. The campaign starts on the 1st of July and closes on the 31st of August 2021.
  • The Wikimania 2021 Pre-conference is going to be held in Tanzania. It’s scheduled for a Saturday and Sunday, either the third week of July or first week of August 2021. The meta page will be up in a few days where you can find more info.
