Instructions

SUL finalization

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

How to add an entry here

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~
}}

Example

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
{{SRUC
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here
--~~~~
}}

Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests

Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Global requests

Two options exist for requesting renames

  1. Use the (new) request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
  2. Utilise the manual process outlined above, and submitted below in this section.

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username@global if you wish to be globally renamed.

JialeAven9erEX@global

Requests with usurps and complex renames

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username@project name .

Galadrien@global

On hold until the tool to merge SULs becomes available. Ajraddatz (talk) 17:55, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I propose to decline this and process it when SUL merge is enabled. (Looks like it is not going to happen soon.) — Revi 12:36, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pelikana@en.wikipedia (Usurp. request)

Uitgevoerd. Heb je een account op en.wiki die eventueel bij je globaal account toegevoegd moet worden? Savhñ 13:34, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, user:Pepelikana on en.wp could be merged please, ty Pelikana (talk) 13:44, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Pelikana, can you provide an edit with the Pepelikana@enwiki account, so we can confirm you own that account? Savhñ 13:52, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
here you go and ty. Can i do a request for the separated wp.de:user here too? Pelikana (talk) 13:56, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Xavax@global

Placing on hold pending the deployment of AccountMerge, since you have two global accounts and have contributed with both to commons and to other projects. I have updated the confirmation diff, since the one you provided was broken. Savhñ 10:44, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

khaled@global

I have usurped all "Khaled" accounts without any live edits, so you should be able to edit all projects except de.wiki and fi.wiki with your "Khaled" account. I suggest you wait for SUL finalisation and the deployment of AccountMerge to merge these two. Alternatively, we could merge the accounts the old way (all individually) but that could lead to problems. Savhñ 14:13, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Xabier@global (Usurp, SUL)

I have usurped all accounts with 0 edits. Usurping accounts with edits requires a previous notification. I have informed both Xabier@euwiki and Xabier@commons. The latter, with only 1 live edit, should be usurpable in a month. For the Xabier@euwiki account, please wait until SUL finalisation (unless the user replies). Savhñ 10:33, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Note: Xabier@euwiki already done by Savh. Alan (talk) 23:19, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
 On hold until 8 February

Roberth@de.wikipedia

Which local accounts at Roberth do belong to you? Ruslik (talk) 20:10, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(Please provide confirmation diffs to confirm these accounts are yours) Savhñ 21:49, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@RobertHeinze: actions are required from you.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:36, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RussaviaBot@global

If you just want to take-over his bot's task, I think you can just file local bot approval request to take over. I don't think RussaviaBot run by someone else makes sense. — Revi 10:59, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
With the number of edits, it is probably preferable that the scripts and tasks are taken. We will need to check with the accounts people about the task of moving.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:03, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Revi: Please consider this a migration. Russavia was in dialogue with a number of off-wiki forums about future donations to Commons, this bot was a part of that task. No doubt other bots, such as Faebot may be able to take over some of the tasks, it will be my judgement call alone as to which ought to best be closed out by RussaviaBot. Closing everything down overnight smacks a bit too uncomfortably of damnatio memoriae, which seems inappropriate considering the years of positive content contributions by this user, regardless of other events or disputes. -- (talk) 11:16, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I am missing something, but the link provided here does not state that the account can be usurped.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 16:54, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Comment I think that it would be confusing to have a "RussaviaBot" account operated by Fæ as the user name suggests that the bot is operated by someone other than Fæ. I would suggest that Fæ picks a different user name for his replacement bot. --Stefan2 (talk) 23:57, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    In light of the issue and the circumstance I would think that another bot would be ill-advised to replace RussaviaBot at the same name. As the bot was only active in Commons, I think that Commons can resolve this issue, and the name is not generic for a role, it is aligned with a user. It just gets ugly moving the account aside to put in a new account with the same name as the account will need rights approved etc.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:32, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Peka@jawiki and other 3 projects

 On hold @Pekachu: before we can do anything we require for you to make this account a global account. Please follow the link in your "My Preferences" to achieve this, and let us kn when that is done. We also require those accounts that are yours under the username "Peka" each are edited on their user or user talk pages by you so that we know that they are your accounts. On the edits, simply quote [[m:Special:PermanentLink/11066304]]. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:48, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Akela3@ruwiki

@Akela3 and Akela: You have logged this request with a username that is different from the target account. If you are the holder of the SUL account Akela, then please login with that account to confirm this edit. If you are not the global holder of that account, then we cannot progress.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:53, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
However he used Akela3 account for this request here, he used the SUL account to confirm this request on huwiki. Samat (talk) 13:45, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Samat. Moved ruWP Akela3 -> Akela, please unite it with account. We will need to go through the discussion process with itWP/Commons/noWP, and we should as they need to move ahead of full globalisation.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:58, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! ;) Samat (talk) 14:39, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I logged in to RuWiki. Thanks for Your support. Akela (talk) 17:32, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tarenor@global

I have usurped the account on en.wiki. However, since AccountMerge is not deployed yet, we can't proceed to merge. Placing this request on hold. (Confirmation diff: cs.wiki) Savhñ 14:01, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Laszlo@Global

Account merging is currently not possible. Ruslik (talk) 20:01, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
...But will be possible soon, so I changed the status to "on hold". Trijnsteltalk 23:15, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks both of you! Why is it not yet possible and when it will be ? 194.98.34.59 09:09, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This feature is under development (until now it was impossible). Development and testing can be maximum few more months, then it will be available. Samat (talk) 14:07, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pietro.ziveri@global

 awaiting global merge It was the solution suggested by a global renamer, to which no response was made. If you really want those 20+ edits then you will need to wait until global merge is available.  — billinghurst sDrewth 15:18, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aharon@global

Since you have contributed with both accounts on en.wiki, we'll need to wait for AccountMerge. To allow us to merge your accounts once AccountMerge is deployed, please access en:Special:MergeAccount while logged into your Aharon account to create a global account. Otherwise, we will not be able to perform the merge. Savhñ 20:18, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've completed the form on en:Special:MergeAccount to create a global account. There appear to be a number of other accounts named 'Aharon' on other wikimedia sites. These are not mine. (Only the 'Aharon' account on en.wikipedia.org is mine.) Thank you Savh. 24.165.97.140 17:14, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Great. As soon as AccountMerge is available, the merge of these two global accounts will be completed. This is expected to be before april. (Confirmation diff) Savhñ 17:31, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you :) Aharon (talk) 16:54, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
 awaiting global merge tool  — billinghurst sDrewth 15:21, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fisuaq@global

Proof about Fisuaq to Erbigon merging --Erbigon (talk) 19:43, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My suggestion would be that you simply stop using the other account, otherwise, if you really want the two edits, then On hold,  awaiting global merge since you want your username to be the account with fewer edits. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 17:19, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lux2545@th.wikipedia.org

Target username registered in 4 projects, 2 with contribs. Is yours? Alan (talk) 12:32, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, rename my name for th.wikipedia.org only. --mtlux (talk) 11:13, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done MBisanz talk 12:19, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

macabre@global (usurp non-SUL)

Those with zero or one edit have been resolved. For the ukWP account with 12 edits we should attempt a discussion about a rename.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:26, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What should I do? Start a discussion on that user's page with request for usurpation/rename, and than wait for some time? Account on huwiki is still unattached. Tell me please, can somebody now create account in any local wiki with my name, and so create again a problem for completing SUL-account? Macabre (talk) 15:06, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alex2006@it.wikipedia.org

Done, though you will now need to go and undertake the global merge through the preferences to align this with your SUL.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:33, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Goemon@it.wikipedia.org (usurp request)

I usurped accounts with zero edits. On enwiki and frwiki you should first notify the users about the impending account name change. Ruslik (talk) 16:50, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
