  • Personal info: Dear readers,

I'm one of the longest continuously serving stewards as I was elected back in December 2007. With my broad experience in handling steward actions, I'm not only dealing with almost all kinds of them (mostly via IRC) but also advise new stewards and help as a contact person between stewards, communities and developers. For that purpose, I created help pages and reports for the announced Single User Login finalisation in English and German, held a presentation about global administration at the German AdminConvention and about global administration and tools at Wikimania 2013 (last part by Hoo man; slides, video), had meetups with developers and functionaries involved, created a roadmap for that purpose etc. Looking back at my last year's confirmation page, I'm a bit disappointed in the progress of the SUL finalisation on the part of the Wikimedia Foundation but I'm confident that it will happen this year and I want to pull my weight.

Last year, my lower activity depended on my master thesis and participation in the Board of Wikimedia Germany. As the latter (besides others) frustrated me a bit, I decided to take a break in September and came back much more actively. Further, my Board term expired and I didn't step up again; additionally, I'll finish my master next month. In the last weeks, I occupied myself with CheckUser activities mostly on loginwiki (in what I was not as experienced as in Oversight rights that I hold on metawiki and which were one my main steward activities) and closed a difficult crosswiki CheckUser case in collaboration with German, French and English CheckUsers. Besides, a couple of German administrators requested a removal of their sysop rights on my user talk page and I granted this request according to our policy which caused a couple of uncontroversial steward actions on one of my homewikis.

Recently, I became a member of the steward election committee again (a job I did in the last couple of years too) and thus hope to approve some new fellows elected by the global community. I'd be happy to serve the community and my venerable fellows with my experience for the next term. Thank you!

Vielen Dank!

      • Just read through it with Google Translate and didn't see any problems. Each candidate was presented neutrally, and then with some pros and cons, and there were no personal attacks. What about this made you change from keep to remove, exactly? Is it the idea, or the actual text (which does not seem to be attacking anyone)? Is your decision based in policy or your own opinion? • To me that doesn't seem any different from giving a detailed rational when voting, and is often done by people in large elections. I prefer to give my rational on the voting page (or not at all when there's a closed ballot), but I'm not sure how this is so different. Ajraddatz (Talk) 16:43, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I agree: the eagerness to vote "Oppose", and his offensive "You're kidding us, aren't you?" comment, is both shocking and disappointing coming from a steward (not to mention a member of the Election Committee). ~ DanielTom (talk) 16:22, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree: Barras has done that offensive comment before, the "You're kidding" comment, which sickens me, but does not that much. I feel DerHexer has covered that comment. --Goldenburg111 17:22, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Apologies for once having lost my countenance when I saw this unpromising candidacy for the fifth time. Even though it's the truth, I should not have told it so rudely. —DerHexer (Talk) 16:24, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
How can a sarcastic question be "the truth"? Vogone talk 16:30, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There was no sarcasm albeit impoliteness: It was as clear as mud that he would fail again, for the fifth time, as he still disrespects the community's unambiguous decision of the past years. I adhere to this view but regret my behaviour in edits and wording as this cannot change anything either. Which is why I am going to propose a limitation of candidacies. —DerHexer (Talk) 17:00, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
All the issues which were brought up in the past were fixable and 1 year isn't that little time to do so. Thus, I don't understand why one needs to oppose without even awaiting the candidate's questions to possible answers etc. to see whether those issues have been fixed but rather to react in a bugged and impolite way. Whether a candidate has changed towards a good direction is something which should be evaluated by the community and not by eligibility limitations, in my opinion. And I clearly don't believe Cekli829 is trying to kid us but rather has some problems to understand the concerns raised and I don't think you have the right to constitute your assumption to be "the truth". Vogone talk 18:10, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I disagree with your view on his candidacies (and by renominating right after the last election he obviously has not fixed one issues which was raised the years before which I critized in a very rude, very impolite way on the wrong place, at the wrong time, in the wrong position) and kindly ask you for accepting my opinion. Besides, this is not the place to discuss limitations or Cekli's candidacy but my work in the past year and whether you trust me for another year. I can see my stupid mistake and regret my misbehaviour. Best regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:25, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Remove Remove I don't think a user who types about other users in a public wiki is an acceptable candidates, per User:Natuur12 --Goldenburg111 22:58, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ironically, everyone commenting here is typing about other users in a public wiki. ;) Can you please explain why this is any different from just leaving a reason when supporting/opposing? Let me clarify: I respect your opinions. but don't see why this is a reason to oppose. PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:46, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
