- Personal info: This is my fourth steward confirmation, as I've been elected in 2011. I sadly was not as active in this year as in the years before due to some real life commitments. I've used the steward tools for various purposes. Mostly I dealt with vandalism and spam and locked and blocked many users and IPs. I also did some right changes, mostly per request on SRP. The only part of the stewards' work I've not yet really dealt with is the global rename stuff as I feel that there are currently enough qualified people to deal with those requests. Looking at the last years, I really enjoyed the work with my fellow stewards and would love to continue that work for another year. I try to help wherever help is needed, on IRC and also on-wiki. If you've any question, just ask me. Please note that I will be serving on the Ombudsmen commission for the next term. Just want to make sure I don't possibly hide any facts you may want to know before commenting here!

- I really don't understand your participation in the global renamers discussion [2]. Not only did you add an additional oppose where Snowolf had already done so (see comments below), but you persisted in doing so even after complaints about this practice had been made on the talk page, on IRC, and on the list; this was needlessly provocative.
But that being said, my comments about Avraham being on the OC and continuing as a steward also apply here. Remove --Rschen7754 19:29, 8 February 2015 (UTC) - Keep Good job as steward.--Syum90 (talk) 19:37, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

- Keep --Rax (talk) 21:13, 8 February 2015 (UTC) - a bit weak "keep" - really good work as steward and really helpful service (I profited in while doing first formal steps on IRC as CU with clumsy fingers ;) ) - but: I do not support the double role and would really favour to see stewards bearing in mind the importance of checks and balances, herewith asking you to reconsider - you are executing as a steward, and IMHO that's not compatible with investigating complaints potentially directed against stewards actions ...
- Keep - the concerns about holding two roles are understandable but we have many people who hold multiple advanced permissions. As long as someone can recuse themselves when necessary, there isn't really a problem. Green Giant (talk) 21:38, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

- Keep, I believe that double jobbing is acceptable as long as steward voluntarily does not engage in any CU actions that are subject to control of the Ombudsman commission. In my view, this double jobbing should be resolved not by removing the steward bit, but by user him/herself restricting his/her activity — NickK (talk) 23:19, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
- Remove, Per Vogone. --Laberinto16 (talk) 23:36, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
- remove Barras and Snowolf have shown impossible behaviour in the first election of global renamers and disappointed me a lot by doing this. Even if the Wikimedia Foundation has given us only a short time frame to organize these elections, all stewards and bureaucrats were invited to discuss on the mailinglists and talk pages the proposed policies and procedures which have been prepared by some stewards. Instead if doing so or raising their concerns on the very same, designated discussion places during the elections, they blatantly opposed the innocent candidates whose user rights we steward have taken over without any compensation, suddenly coming out of nowhere, and who we invited to help us with global renames, sharing knowledge, spreading the workload, etc. By doing this, they did not only do harm to the candidates themselves without any valid reason and confused them, they also harmed the steward by making them look like users who either cannot find consensus or accept it (besides disrespectfully trampling on the preparation work or their fellow colleagues). Briefly, I do not expect from a steward to troll elections simply for making a point. That's what I do not understand as collegial behaviour and worthy of stewards. As far as I remember, they did not apologize for this childish behaviour yet which is inacceptable as well and baffles me. —DerHexer (Talk) 01:09, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

- The name is misleading, the right everything but global. Furthermore, rights were about to be granted to users who held a similar right on their local wikis before, which was revoked forcibly by the WMF. Thus, the communities have decided by appointing bureaucrats, but on meta a chance was given for a metawiki community veto. Vogone (talk) 11:35, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

- Keep, partly per my comment on Avraham above. As regards DerHexer's comment, I would suggest that, having looked at the relevant page, Barras' "formal opposition" to global renamers was done for what was a good reason at the time, and could not have influenced the results (I'm sure Barras was aware of that when he made the votes). - Neutral As DerHexer, I was very concerned with Barras' blanket opposing of global renamer requests to protest the system. There was ample opporitunity to discuss it prior to that, but he did not engage in much of that discussion. That said, he does good work most of the time, so I won't oppose based on that one incident. I do however think that being able to effectively collaborate with other stewards is an important part of this role, so I am neutral. Ajraddatz (talk) 09:44, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

- Strong keep. Perfectly capable user who undoubtedly will be a great addition to the OC. If any situation arises in which a conflict of interest may exist, I am sure Barras will know how to act appropriately. A fine steward, Barras has always been around to help when needed in most (if not all) steward areas, acting with the wiki's interests at heart, doing what he believed to be right. I greatly value this, and whilst it is possible that his actions regarding the global renamers were not fully 'collegial', keeping such a grudge without discussing it with the users in question for over four months isn't IMO 'collegial' behaviour either. With kind regards, Savhñ 23:49, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
- I'm a bit disappointed to see my opinions dismissed as part of a "grudge". For me, opposing long-term stewards is not something I enjoy doing, but I firmly believe that collaboration is important to being a steward, because if our "most trusted" users can't work together, how can we expect anyone else to, on a site where we are working together to gather the sum of all human knowledge? It seems that this is merely a difference in opinion and perception. --Rschen7754 06:36, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
- From what I understood, your comment was based on the OC-steward combination. I find it however surprising that you conclude from that single incident that this steward, who's been a steward for nearly 4 years, does not collaborate well. I find it also surprising that you complain about bad collaboration while it seems there was no communication on this issue during the last four months, but it was kept against him for this round of confirmations (and that's what I understand to be a grudge, though maybe that's because English is not my native language). I firmly believe straightforward communication is essential for proper collaboration, and that criticism should be shared on the moment and on the appropiate pages (his talk page). If then, after having communicated (ie, made an attempt to understand each other) with the user on this issue, the collaboration issues persist, then I believe it would be fair to oppose here based on collaboration issues, but I hardly doubt that would be the case. In my experience, Barras has always attended and been helpful in the nearly 4 years I've worked with him. Savhñ 15:33, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
- I find these comments of yours quite strange. Have you read the discussions back then even? (September 2014 archive of SRGP and esp. Talk:Global renamers#Discussion as to length of candidacies, where similar comments as now were made) For me such a single incident would not be a reason to claim removal, but you cannot deny there have been attempts of communication … Vogone (talk) 18:35, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
- In this case, there were past incidents, though minor, that supported my decision. I didn't list them because I don't want this to be a laundry list of all the mistakes that a particular steward has done, and because often they relate to mailing list discussions or the context is related to something that we are bound not to disclose. --Rschen7754 02:31, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
