Okay, fine. I think, you don't have to worry about my transwiki right expiration, because I think if a Steward sees this delay, he would expand my right. Greetings, Vogone (talk) 16:59, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

About SRP[edit]

Generally, crat right request needs 10+ voters. But Wikiversity participant is small, We cannot make 10+ voters; That is, We must request it to local crat. As you know, Wikiversity BETA has 2 crats. http://de.wikiquote.org/w/index.php?title=Emergenz&curid=27666&diff=467152&oldid=467150 Was soll das, bitteschön? Vielleicht machen Sie sich erst mal mit den Regeln des Projekts Wikiquote vertraut, bevor Sie sich als Besserwisser aufspielen: "was probably here reverting or fixing unhelpful edits and won't be staying long." In sog.

Freundlich verbleibend, Vogone (talk) 00:29, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio tag for deletion[edit]

Just wondering what was the copyvio tag about on the deletion tag for The Rescuers about since it's a direct copy of the en article, I know it is still grounds for deletions in Ilokano wikipedia because it's written in English but I want to know about the copyvio reason so I know what to look for in the future . Thanks and regard.--Lam-ang (talk) 17:46, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it is forbidden to c&p content, even from other WMF projects. You have to import, if you want to translate. The 3.0 License under which all articles are licensed says that you have to attribute the work. It mustn't look like the work is from the IP. The names of the authors must be visible in the page history. Kind regards, Vogone (talk) 17:59, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware of the license that all wikipedia articles are released, and that anyone editing wikipedia released their work based on those licensed when you get warned by this message "By clicking the "Save page" button, you are agreeing to Wikimedia's terms of use and privacy policy, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. You agree that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient attribution under the Creative Commons license." , so technically I can copypaste any articles from WMF wikipedias and that the hyperlink or URL to the license is sufficient attribution under the Creative Commons license since all WMF wikpedias are hyperlink to that license. But what you are telling us is that editors must have an imports rights (which is impossible to grant anyone who wants to edit) to translate articles from en wikipedia? Please advice or clarify because you got me confused by your statements. Please direct me also where you sourced this statement "forbidden to c&p content, even from other WMF projects". Thanks and regards--Lam-ang (talk) 18:32, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to redirect you to Wikipedia:Requests for page importation and Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Kind regards, Vogone (talk) 20:33, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have read them but still didn't answer some of my questions, what is the reason of the copyvio for "The Rescuers" it obviously satiesfied all requirements for attribution, the article page was linked to CC-BY-SA and GDFL license it has an en interwiki to satisfy the source for translation or origin of the cut and pasted parts of the article, but you are saying that editors need imports rights to translate and forbidden to cut and paste.--Lam-ang (talk) 21:10, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And he is right. An interwiki link is never sufficient for a translation; there are millions of interwiki links which connect independent articles. On Wikipedia:Requests for page importation you can read “This is a place to request that pages be imported with history of pages from other Wikimedia Foundation wikis to here. This might be done if a page was copied and pasted from a WMF wiki“. A simple cut and paste (even if it contains a link to the original article [history] or the whole history added to one revision or the talk page) is always a worse solution than to import the history of an article into another one. I am not a lawyer, Vogone neither, and even if you'd be one I doubt that you know all legal implications of the GFDL/CC licenses in all given laws (US and local ones). For me, it is self-evident that a complete copy of the history would stand all accusations while possible gentlmen agreements wouldn't. So please ask a steward to copy the history (I can do that if you tell me the original and the translated article). Cheers —DerHexer (Talk) 21:24, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So what you are saying is we need to import or request a steward to import a history of an article from any WMF wikipedias before we can even translate to satisfy the attribution requirements? So if this is true, the Ilokano wikipedia might have to be deleted from the database because it's full of translated articles from en wikipedia without the full history. I'm not a lawyer either but confused by some of the statements that's why I'm asking clarification here.--Lam-ang (talk) 22:01, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the WMF closes its eyes and accepts the gentlemen agreement. I don't know any law suit regarding this issue. But the German Wikipedia decided to handle this stricter and imports all revisions that has been used for any translation (if it's technically possible). Since Vogone is coming from the German Wikipedia, he obviously adopts the same procedure for each translation he sees on other wikis too. What we don't see we can't fix. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:10, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nominated you for adminship on Meta-Wiki[edit]

Hi. I've gone ahead and nominated you for adminship on Meta-Wiki here: Meta:Requests for adminship/Vogone. I'm not sure I did everything correctly. I think it's close enough, though. Good luck! --MZMcBride (talk) 18:49, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am quite surprised about this nomination. Thank you for the trust and I hope I will not get problems with the eligibility. :-) Kind regards, Vogone (talk) 19:46, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Vogone. WOuld you consider withdrawing your current RfA, and either waiting until we hash out the requirements? Even if you are unwilling to wait, would you consider withdrawing and resubmitting? Being that you are now an admin on wikidata, the requirement that you be an admin on a content wiki can be considered fulfilled (by many) whereas now, technically, when your request was submitted, you were not an admin on any content wiki. Perhaps discuss the idea with some of your more vocal supporters; I just don't want our crats to be in the unenviable position of having to have policy trump consensus or vice versa. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 16:54, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry that turned into such a mess. :-( Re-nominate yourself in a month or so, or I'd be happy to re-file. This is Meta-Wiki being... why everyone hates Meta-Wiki sometimes. But we're gonna see reform of the previous rules. God willing. --MZMcBride (talk) 01:01, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why wait a month? At this point Vogone is an admin on wikidata, which fulfills the current requirements (at least IMO) and there should be no problem. Also, Vogone, I'd like to commend you on your handling of this situation; you easily could have gotten very angry and taken out your frustrations on wiki—you didn't. That is a testament to your maturity. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 02:51, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, maturity in the face of rather shocking immaturity. Anyway, I'm sorry to see you withdraw; I hope to see you run again very soon. PeterSymonds (talk) 20:04, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I want to say thank you to everybody who supported me during this RFA. Such a support pursued with so much effort is not self-evident. Particularly for these users I am sorry for the abandonment. However, I think, this was the best solution to resolve this messy situation. I hope you can understand me. Greetings, Vogone talk 00:29, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article Geurija Isa Jatoë in wp.ace[edit]

Hi, Vogone, why you protect article ace:Geurija Isa Jatoë? The article has been deleted before by administrator because has many mistakes. Even you halt other users to put delete template. It's really not fair. How can you do that? -- Si Gam (talk) 20:05, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is it my obligation to correct it? I think no. If you want to prevent edit war, you should ask Jose77 to stop making chaos in this Wikipedia. We have talked about this and the conclusion was the article could be deleted after 1 month without anyone who corrected it. -- Si Gam (talk) 11:21, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why there is no response from you? Please be fair. -- Si Gam (talk) 11:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I already responded on acewiki and I still see no valid reason for the edit war and the ongoing page blanking. Furthermore, this discussion does not provide any reason or permission for the deletion. Regards, Vogone talk 17:58, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have seen the same messages at ace.wikipedia. I'd advise to keep the discussion in one place, or at least on one wiki, to keep things clear and avoid confusion. ;) Kind regards, Mathonius (talk) 11:27, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Danke dir[edit]

Hallo!,
Was war hier falsch? --Cornelius Kibelka (WMDE) (talk) 21:14, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

:-) Viele Grüße, Vogone talk 21:20, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dazu einfach folgendes in deine common.js einfügen:
importScriptURI('//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:AzaToth/morebits.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');

Stupidity ¬¬[edit]

One of the things that annoys me most in this Movement are people who do not know what they are doing, and do without thinking, more than that, who do not measure how their actions cause harm to newbies, and in this case, people of a schools program. v:pt:Utilizador:Black.Jack Do you know how to use this? I do not know who gave you the tool, but you're making a bad use of it. Reverse what you did. I understand that you are a bit in rage, but I neither blocked the user nor deleted his edits. His user page was edited anonimously by two different IP adresses which is normally a reason for deletion (as nobody can prove whether this is really User:Black.Jack who wrote that). Bot BoulaurBot on OC wikipedia - WIKIDATA STUBS[edit]

Hi, let the oc wikipedia community decide please. My unapproved bot had more than 40 000 page created not reverted by local community (french commune...) and 200 000 edits.

On wikidata approved bot: 34 000 edits.

The content of the articles is from wikidata using mainly the INFOBOX: a lot of stubs, some with more informations.

PLEASE let the local community decide

Boulaur (talk) 04:50, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, that's what I intend to do. Anyway, running controversial and unapproved bot tasks is a quite inappropriate behaviour and I hope you have learned from this incident for the future. What now happens to the created pages and your bot is the ocwiki community's decision. Regards, Vogone talk 06:07, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Change on Simple Wiktionary[edit]

Hi Vogone, this is Raninghai from Simple Wiktionary, why did you undid my change. Lemonade contains a lot of sugar. --Raninghai (talk) 18:55, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See simple:wikt:User talk:Vogone. I personally don't think "a lot" was needed there, but rollback shouldn't have been used. Of course, it's not a major error to use rollback instead of undo. `PiRSquared17 (talk) 20:33, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I had corrected my mistake. I hit the wrong button and made a null edit with a summary afterwards. Apparently, it didn't get saved. :/ Vogone talk 00:24, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A true null edit never shows up in the page history. If you want it to, you have to change something in the page source, like the amount of whitespace (anywhere except at the very end — perhaps this is why your edit didn't have the effect you were hoping for?). - dcljr (talk) 19:03, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added a line after the interwikis. So that was probably the error. Thanks. Vogone talk 23:10, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for support[edit]

Hey Vogone, I see you supported my idea for WikiNames however I am unsure on how to spread the word around the Wikimedia community, I'm kinda new to all this cool stuff. Do you have any hints and tips, it said in the page template something about a mailing list, but I don't want to spam a load of people. I managed to find the template which allows me to put WikiNames on the goings on, but there must be more I can do. Thanks for your time and support GingerGeek (talk) 10:51, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GingerGeek. First of all, I've added the proposed project to this list, so that it becomes easier for interested users browsing this page to find it. For advertising the project, it would really be the best if you do both leaving a comment in the Wikimedia Forum and on the Wikimedia Foundation's mailing list. Kind regards, Vogone talk 12:45, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Spam?[edit]

As for the addition by that user to sv.wiki, you will find that, that edit has also been undone. See https://sv.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Veganism&action=history --Glaisher [talk] 09:22, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But there are great differences between wikipedia and wikibooks and also between userpages and other pages. If that user wants to write a wikibook containing propaganda and also to fill his userpage with propaganda, why should we stop him? - Averater (talk) 11:37, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really see how that's spam. PiRSquared17 (talk) 11:55, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Me neither. I also couldn't find any evidence of it being spam when it was requested for deletion and since Glaisher had no other edits on sv.wb apart from his/her user pages I thought the request either was a mistake or that Glaisher possibly was some anti-vegan-fundamentalist. Either way, I removed the request. But I'm also interested as it seems to be some confusion (from me or Glaisher) about this being spam, why it was requested for deletion here om meta and not brought up with me personally or with any other admin on sv.wb. - Averater (talk) 13:04, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In my eyes, this is a clear case of spam, especially considering the page was created by a single-purpose account used only to advertise an ideology and underline this with multiple external weblinks. The Wikimedia projects have never been a place for propaganda (like Averater called it) and should never be one. Furthermore, I believe that this user page met the English Wikipedia article's definition of spam ("Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages, especially advertising, indiscriminately."), however feel free to restore the page as my decision is neither final nor unreversible, and our view on spam can differ. Kind regards, Vogone talk 14:00, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is "thank" from special:Notifications? I saw you did it, so I am asking for you! And how can I do this to others? Thanks, --ReviDiscussSUL Info 12:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article deletions on FJ Wikipedia[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you deleted a few articles in English on the Fijian Wikipedia. This was something about which I had a conversation with their author a while ago. I deleted the others that he neglected to translate over the past three-plus months and left a message on his talk page about it. Thanks again for your help. Question[edit]

Hi Vogone, can I ask how does one become a global rollbacker? I am a rollbacker on English Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Jianhui67 (talk) 13:38, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One becomes a SWMT. John F. Lewis (talk) 15:41, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@John F. Lewis: Being an SWMT member is no requirement. @Jianhui67: You need to demonstrate a heavy need of rollback across multiple wikis. This policy page explains the purpose of global rollbackers. Of course, help in the SWMT is always appreciated and most global rollbackers are also in this team. Regards, Vogone talk 15:50, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest Vogone, I only said SWMT since it fit in with the way the user worded the question. SWMT is a help and not a requirement I know. John F. Lewis (talk) 15:57, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have a history of positive reverts using rollback in English Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. I also added my name to SWMT. What else do I need to do next? I will definitely need rollback to revert vandalism across multiple wikis. Jianhui67 Talk 17:48, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You need to demonstrate this need with manual reverts across multiple wikis first. Vogone talk 18:25, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am still very scared if my global rollback request will fail even if I apply 2 or 3 months later with a lot of cross-wiki reverts given the fact I have seen the load of rejected GR requests. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 15:18, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
talk page stalking: One's motivation should be reverting vandalism, not being a rollbacker. --MF-W 15:32, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

┌──────────────────────────┘
Well I would want to help in reverting vandalism. I monitor the RecentChanges page on different wikis every day. I am already a local rollbacker on 3 wikis. But to become a global rollbacker I am considering very hard if I should become one or not. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 15:38, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then you should rather become active globally with reverting people ("manually") first. --MF-W 15:40, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like hat collecting to me. I see no need... (global activity) ... --Steinsplitter (talk) 17:00, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is that we need to be sure that you know how to recognize vandalism across multiple languages, and different projects... unlike big wikis, it is hard to monitor use of the tool at small wikis, so we have to make sure you know what you are doing. --Rschen7754 17:03, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Jianhui67:, why not just use global Twinkle? PiRSquared17 (talk) 22:22, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Steinsplitter: Sorry I am not hat collecting. Whatever tools and rights that admins give me I would definitely use them. The 'hat collecting' page says collecting rights with no actual use of them, but to boost one's ego or to show off. And I will not do those. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 01:12, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@PiRSquared17: I don't understand why Twinkle don't work on some wikis. An example is Commons. I have installed Twinkle over there and when I press one of the Twinkle buttons, it starts to lag and hang. I waited for a long time for Twinkle to work, but it didn't. So I have no choice but to use popups or rollback. I don't know it is my computer's problem or the server's problem. I am using Google Chrome to access Wikimedia projects. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 01:12, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know about the specific version of Twinkle you have installed on commons, but I can tell you how to enable it on 700 other Wikimedia wikis. PiRSquared17 (talk) 14:14, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@PiRSquared17: Well I am interested. Can you tell me how do you globally install Twinkle? I have already inserted the code to my global.js and did what the page told me to do. Then what do I do next? And also how do I create a global account to make me attached to all of the Wikimedia projects? Maybe discuss it on your talk page? I'm sorry that my question has dragged too many people in. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 05:58, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
User:Snowolf/How_to_globally_TWINKLE explains how to do so in detail. Please use globalsul and then either add the request to Pathoschild's request page (not your global.js) or use my very-unstable script. Or wait until bugzilla:13953 is resolved, and a change is +2'd. :-) PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:29, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you recently changed the page and marked it for translation again. I would like your opinion as a translation administrator on whether or not to translate the section headers "Yes" and "No" as "Support" and "Oppose" instead, given the ambiguity of the former two. I've also commented on PiRSquared's talkpage on some of the reasons why, but I'd like to hear it from you. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 07:11, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fine with whichever you want. PiRSquared17 (talk) 10:31, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer the first option, as it is much shorter. Anyway, if you'd like to change it I would suggest you to ask on the talk page and wait for an answer by the ElectCom which is responsible for the election pages. Vogone talk 21:37, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Alright thanks, perhaps I'll re-raise the issue with ElectCom next year. BTW, I've seen you active on a lot of wikis like Rschen, pity you didn't throw your hat in the ring. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 09:21, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lietuviškasis vikiverzitetas[edit]

Atsiprašau, jog kreipiuosi lietuviškai, nes manau, jog kuriantys lietuvišką projektą privalėtų gebėti labai gerai bendrauti lietuviškai. Pirma: man įdomu ar Jūs ruošiatės pratęsti darbus kuriant lietuvišką vikiverzitetą?

Jei Jūs man padėtumėte, būčiau be galo dėkingas.
Vogone talk 16:34, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was just reacting to your "funny" comments with a "funny" non-serious edit summary to fix the mistakes which you made in your edit. I'm not sure why you are thinking so negatively and expecting the devil behind every account. Vogone talk 18:58, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why it makes such a pleasure to you to offend other users (also in edit summaries) but I assume it has to do something with your psychological constitution or so and thus I also won't think that much about this. Anyway, please try to get yourself under control before posting something rude or offending as not everybody can deal with that. Vogone talk 19:22, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Cut it out both of you. Vogone, I've seen a lot better from you and Goldenburg, quit picking fights anywhere you go, which includes making really weak votes, which more reflect on your behavior than it does on theirs. You socked on Wikiversity, not Trijnstel or any other steward. Both of you stop: Vogone, I expect better from you and Goldenburg, drop the stick, please. You both can do better. Please test the new feature Special:PageMigration[edit]

As a Google Summer of Code Intern, I have been working on the Mass Migration tools project for Wikimedia. We are now ready with a minimal working product. The tool helps translators and translation administrators import the old translations into the Translate Extension.

An instance of the same has been set up on labs. You can find some useful instructions on the main page.

Please test the tool and report bugs/suggestions using the link provided on the main page itself. You can have a look at the tracking bug to check already reported bugs.

Looking forward to hearing from you! Cheers. BPositive (talk) 14:33, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.

If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.

I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:24, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

Vogone, congratulations! You now have the rights of an administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List of administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

help pls[edit]

Hi; I am a student in Başkent University. ip 212.156.67.30 is used by Başkent Üniversitesi in Turkey. But it was blocked in Turkish wikipedia for unlimited time. block begins: 23:15, 6 Feb. 2011. Since that time whole university can not make any edits in Turkish wikipedia. We university students want to edit turkish wikipedia. Local adminstrators say they are very angry with an old time user and they dont unblock th i.p. and they punish a whole university. It has been a long time and probably the person that makes them angry is graduate by now. Thank you for help.

why[edit]

why you blocked me on gujarati wikipedia any reason for that??.......i was given notice for deletion of pages which i created and i was replying to those by clicking on link......what is this? 1st of all admins on gujarati wikipedia are misbehaving with new users and over that this......do you guys want me to stop editing or what? say in my face......Sushilmishra (talk) 22:13, 17 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

--Kusurija (talk) 10:38, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ps-wiki[edit]

If the desysopping occurs as has been promised, ps-wiki users are going to need to have a way to make reasonably efficient requests for sysop action. The one blocked sysop may need to be unblocked, as one obvious example. Is it possible to set up a special request page for ps-wiki, for handling vandalism, spam, and then whatever is needed to get the community back on track?

There will need to be reliable and trustworthy translators, I'd think. Any ideas? --Abd (talk) 19:08, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think we had a similar scenario on Chechen Wikipedia before. There it has been sufficient that stewards/global sysops kept an eye on the local request pages, and if needed local community members posted to the general metawiki request pages. I doubt there would be, if the desysopping indeed happened, too heavy workload for our current pages. But if it proves necessary, one could of course think about setting up extra pages as needed. Vogone (talk) 19:16, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The problem I'd anticipate would be an inability to read the pswiki pages. Is there a pashto translator that can be used? --Abd (talk) 23:34, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you block me again without any warning?????[edit]

Hay Stewards friends Vogone ! why did you block me again without any warning? I have done nothing wrong , I just mentioned the vulgarity and opposed it with a civil manner why did you blocked me? it seems that the blocking rights are in the hands of vandalists, homosexuals and gangs.

what a shame for the wikipedia writers who contribute in such a nepotist and egoist website.--Afghanwrites (talk) 13:51, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Calling someone's contributions "shitt" is not what I call civil. Neither were your accusations you made right before on another page[20]. You are free to voice opposition to anything, but purely offensive comments like yours definitely do not help. Vogone (talk) 13:59, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
First of all English is not my language and secondly Shit , fuck off is very common expressions in among english laguage speakers. I meant the useless information as he repeated many times without hearing the global warning as well , then I thought it will be better to mention once again for to attract global attention towards his misbehaves. anyway try to understand that the people who are now writing there are all street guys they do not know anything about the literary contexts . most of them are making fun of people and enjoy support from the Stewards injustice commity against the Khangul and previous writers.
please try to understand that Pakistanis , pajabis and hindid do not write in the fevor of education and research in pashto they just want to have control and put the pashto wikipedia under their law nothing else.
all are gangs who commuting to write there now. --Afghanwrites (talk) 15:08, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, then I unfortunately have to tell you that "shit", "fuck off" etc. are quite uncommon in civil conversations. Since I am not a speaker of Pashto I obviously cannot tell if you are in the right position or not, but please understand offensive behaviour as provided by yourself is anything but acceptable. I am fine unblocking you if you promise to refrain from ad hominem attacks in the future, and converse in a civilised manner. Thanks, Vogone (talk) 15:36, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Vogone. The user is arguing that there was nothing wrong with his writing. Yes, in English, the words are common as street language. Yet no sane English speaker, even a street person, will walk into a court and ask for action using that language. And if they do, the bailiff will conduct them from the room until they can clean up their language. I am, compared to these users who are fighting with each other, a "shaykhun kabiyr" (I don't know Pashto, for sure, that's Arabic, but it's Qur'anic and many would know it), an elder, and they know about mediating disputes with elders, and they would not use street language to do it. I'm seeing signs that, in the new RfC, they are behaving much better, actually addressing issues and real complaints instead of just attacking each other.
You can help by watching these two pages, and any others that you care to follow: the top-level RfC page, and the Request page. As a facilitator -- and I hope others will also serve this way -- I will prepare requests for review and escalate them when I assess them as ready for action. Some requests may suggest immediate action, but most of the issues being brought are potentially controversial, so should be discussed first, or at least there should be opportunity for objection.
Warnings and short blocks for incivility are not a problem. What we don't want to do, however, given the history, is to exclude segments of the community just because they are upset. Rather, my goal is to encourage these users to sit down and start talking civilly. That is what an elder in their culture would do.
"Have some tea! Oh? You are very upset and angry? Ahmed, take this respected friend into the kitchen and give him something to eat, and sit with him for a bit. When he's ready, bring him back so we can discuss these issues and work out what to do."
I have many children. When they fight with each other, I do not judge between them. Rather, I help them to come to agreement. It is far more powerful, because, one day, not so far off, I won't be here. What I leave behind is their ability to work with each other. --Abd (talk) 16:52, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PLZ NOTIFY THIS AFGHANWRITES OF PS WIKI[edit]

HI Vogone, plz have a look at this user! he always misuse other users accounts & wated to lobby against me. the last one is here:

[[Bureaucracy polling page of Usman Mansoor Ansari]]

--عثمان منصور انصاري (talk) 19:54, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Usman, this is conduct unbecoming of a 'crat. Please calm down. Yes, the user has been problematic, but there is an obvious error, it should have been fixed immediately, instead the RfC got two complaints, now at Requests for comment/Support collaboration on Pashto Wikipedia/Requests/Afghanwrites, and repeated here.
(This is "unbecoming of a bureaucrat" because a bureaucrat must represent community consensus, and therefore would have no need to defend himself. Representing consensus, a bureaucrat will be confident and calm, and will work to unify the community, including those who may not like him. If defense is needed, see meatball:DefendEachOther; a wiki that won't defend its own bureaucrat does not deserve to have him.)
The extra vote should have been immediately blanked when seen. Because there has been response, it should be struck with a neutral note in smalltext. There is more investigation to do here. There is no emergency. I would highly recommend that no steward action any sysop or crat election on the wiki until there has been plenty of time for wide consensus to appear. There is steward attention to the wiki as to socking, which is difficult because of fairly common computer sharing, but the truth has a way of coming out.
At this point, in my view, the most urgent need on ps.wiki is for civility. Consensus is elusive if civility is missing. In a context where there has been long dispute, with common flame warring, it can take time for users to calm down. Vogone, you can support this, using warnings and short blocks, that don't blame, but that firmly guide. Thanks. --Abd (talk) 22:33, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Vogone, Afghanwrites responded in the RfC, and did explain the voting. Requests for comment/Support collaboration on Pashto Wikipedia/Requests/Afghanwrites. --Abd (talk) 19:54, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Global CSS/JS migration[edit]

Hello Vogone. You have global scripts and styles in User:Vogone/global.js and User:Vogone/global.css, which you import using your local CSS/JS pages. Since August 2014, your global.js and global.css pages are loaded automatically on all wikis. Although you requested cleanup via GlobalCssJs, there are still several pages left like lad:User:Vogone/common.css and ja:User:Vogone/common.js. Do you want me to fix this by removing the imports from your local pages using Synchbot (without changing any other content)? —Pathoschild 02:01, 07 July 2015 (UTC)

Humble Request to Hon'ble Members of Language Committee[edit]

  • My dear brother Vogone, Hi, As a Test Admin of Wp/khw Khowar Wikipedia Project I on behalf of the Khowar language communities of Pakistan, Afghanist, India and Xinjiang(China) humbly request the all respectable members of the language comittee for early approval, creation of Khowar Wkipedia i.e. khw.wikipedia.org. The Khowar language is spoken in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Xingjiang(China). I have created a test page for Khowar language in incubator i.e. Wikipedia Khowar (Khowar Language Wikipedia), On behalf of the abovementioned Khowar speaking four countries for early approval and creation and normalization of Khowar Wikipedia edition. Khowar is one of spoken 14 languages in Chitral(Pakistan). It will be useful to Khowar internet users to report news from worldwide. I strongly feel it deserves its own Wikipedia. Being a test admin i have translated all most used messages into khowar. I have created test Khowar Wikipedia at Khowar Wikpedia.--Rehmat Aziz Chitrali 05:25, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding site up for deletion help[edit]

CaptainTCook (talkcontribs) I would like to ask for help on the first wiki site i created and an editor has placed erroneously for deletion. I have tried to comply with the editors requests and made modifications in each case. He has however become hostile to the entire idea of the page and apparently does not think it merits a wikipedia page even though https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Paul_Wesley was a well known academic for his work in disproving the Big Bang theory and other modern physics theories.

The editor in question that I have't been able to reason with is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Staszek_Lem

If you could talk to him about it or maybe take a second look at the site and recommend me changes i am happy to comply. This is my first site and only have been editing it a couple weeks. I have learned a lot and want to progress and contribute to wikipedia more if i get a chance that is.

specifically, Special:Diff/15240914. the current version is extremely unclear. if you believe that the meaning is not the one that I changed it to, please elucidate on what you believe the correct interpretation is. Hello71 (talk) 03:25, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hello71! Firstly, stewards do not have global CheckUser access, they merely have the possibility to add it to their account on a per wiki-basis in case it's necessary. This fact also makes your change to the second sentence a bit imprecise, since it's not so much about particular projects, but generally that nobody, except for the ombudsmen + certain WMF staff, can hold global CheckUser access everywhere at any time. Kind regards, --Vogone (talk) 17:05, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
More specifically, we have 4 groups of users who may have CU access: stewards, certain WMF staff, ombudsmen, few other users (i.e. local checkusers). None of them is allowed to hold global access, except for the groups of the ombudsmen and certain WMF staff. I hope it's become a bit clearer to you now. Regards, --Vogone (talk) 17:10, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Question On Editing a Closed RfC[edit]

Hej Vogone, got a stupid question about editing a recently closed RfC (you know it well: this one, this edit) - what is usual (procedure/guideline/whatever) on meta: may anyone edit and give further opinions to any case at any time or is it (after closing the RfC, and like I know it in de:WP) restricted to fixing links, categorizing and staff like that. And if the latter - what are usual options for other users - reverting the edit, commenting it, putting it on talk page? Regards --Rax (talk) 01:13, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikidata[edit]

Hello, I'm really sorry for such delay. I have looked at this case one more time and found sth strange. According to this tool Ebrahim had performed an admin action a day before I removed him his flag. I used this tool that day and I'm pretty sure there was no this action that time. As I verified it here it looks that I removed his flag incorrectly. I asked my colleague steward to verify my action and probably his right will be restored. I must ask you to wait a day or two. Global editing preferences[edit]

Hi. I saw your note at phabricator:T102398#1922546. I see you already have w:en:MediaWiki:Gadget-oldeditor.js loaded at User:Vogone/global.js, but if that gadget is insufficient, you can also try something like what I have in my current global.js page that sets the skin to MonoBook on every public Wikimedia wiki. Similar code to set the wikitext editor as your preferred editor should be pretty simple to write. --MZMcBride (talk) 22:10, 16 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The RFC on me[edit]

Greetings, I just noticed that RFC and wanted to let you as the closer know I left a comment on the users talk page about notifying the person when they do stuff like that. I tried to be neutral as possible. I'm frankly surprised it hadn't been done sooner and it's probably only a matter of time before another one shows up.

Also, its rather strange to me that a user who has only edited for 2 months would know about SPI, ANI, Meta, policy, Arbcom, how to submit a global RFC, etc. Even the way that RFC was worded indicates that user has a lot more experience in these projects that his account does. If I ever saw a DUCK of a returned user, banned or otherwise, that account screams returned user to me. Cheers! Reguyla (talk) 23:52, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, it appears he spammed links to ENWP and Commons about the global ban so someone might need to go and let them know it was closed. Reguyla (talk) 00:08, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You can't tell me this guy knows about advanced stuff on EnWP, the stuff I mentioned above and how to properly attribute and upload content to commons like this...in their first month. Their first edits on Commons show knowledge far beyond someone who just started editing. I realize I look like I am just retaliating but come one, there is no way this person hasn't edited before. Reguyla (talk) 00:27, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I don't think it is of much importance if the user is new or not. It's only clear to me that they are trying to provoke/escalate the situation (especially by deliberately adding false claims) and that we should not give them any reason to continue this. --Vogone (talk) 00:42, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Reguyla (talk) 00:45, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You know, I really don't appreciate being called a liar, as every piece of evidence that I presented was valid. And also, I'm a teenager with a very high IQ, and I catch on rather quickly. So I'd appreciate it if you don't go after my knowledge as an excuse. And Reguyla, just end it. Stop playing games. --TJH2018 talk 01:14, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't care if you appreciate it or not. Lots of people on these wikis have high IQ's but there is no way you figured out everything you're doing on all these sites that fast without having previous experience. One wiki maybe, but even that's not likely let alone 3 or more. So if you want to end something and stop paying games then how about you stop vandalizing my contributions just to kiss up to a couple EnWP admins who don't respect the community or care about policy because it doesn't apply to them. Don't worry I'll get banned eventually because I am just an editor and think admins should have to follow the rules. So that makes me public enemy #1. Reguyla (talk) 01:26, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Without using such colourful language, BUG OFF. --TJH2018 talk 01:42, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, your a teenager alright. Anyway, I'm done here. I only want to collaborate and work with people who want to improve these projects. I have no interest in dealing with kiss ups and trolls. Reguyla (talk) 01:49, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Good, and stay away...--TJH2018 talk 01:54, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am not going to let some little baby bully me out of Wikipedia anymore than I let policy violating admins. Why don't you go play with your legos or something. Can someone please block this troll already? He's getting annoying. Reguyla (talk) 01:56, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I did not mean to call you a liar. It's the attitude I criticised. If you expect accommodation, there are certain things you should not be doing. The very same applies for Reguyla, FWIW. --Vogone (talk) 02:12, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I know I am not perfect. No doubt there, but my conduct is a direct result of my frustration at being screwed over repeatedly by people violating policy to keep me banned from EnWP and no one doing anything about it. So I have to defend myself from bullies. I'm not asking for any accomodation, just for those not following policy to do so and remove my ban that never should have been allowed. I haven't stopped fighting it for the last three years, does anyone think I'll stop in the next three? That's why I am certain that I'll be globally blocked eventually. Because the system doesn't care about how editors are treated or if policy was violated. The system supports the admins regardless of what policies they violate, when or to whom. Heck every month I am banned is 10, 000+ edits not getting done to improve the projects but no one even cares about that. All they care about is that I won't just bend over and take an abusive action that violates policy like a lowly editor should. Cheers! Reguyla (talk) 02:20, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Input - New Central Notice request process[edit]

Hello!

Back in February I emailed the CN-admin list regarding part of my role to look into the Central Notice process and see where we could make improvements including: the campaign process; its functionality or lack thereof; and fundamentally the documentation that supports it. You can see many of the issues that I identified at CentralNotice/Process_Review. If there is anything additional that you feel has been left out then please feel free to leave any comments on the talk page.

My first task is to improve the requesting of campaigns by communities and affiliates. I am looking to set up a more formal request process, similar to those used in many projects. The aim is to: increase the transparency of Central Notice; improve the support provided to affiliates (including making such support more consistent); to provide a forum for community input into campaigns.

I have been working on a very rough strawman version of the process and I would be interested in hearing you comments about what such a process should involve and what you think it would require. Please feel free to leave such comments at the process talk page section. I would like to have a working page in place by the end of May. This would not need to be a final version. The process can be improved upon over time as we learn about how well it works.

Given your role as a Meta Administrator who is active in the area of Central Notice, I encourage you to:

Regards

The account is locked. I guess there's no point in a ban discussion. --Vogone (talk) 02:31, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Should we just do it as a formality? If he gets caught socking on other WMF projects, then there will be a policy to back it up with. TJH2018talk 20:46, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There is no point in doing anything as a formality. He is convinced that most of the WMF and project admins are out to get him; why give him the satisfaction of acknowledging that and making even more drama about it? We can already continue to lock/block his accounts if they are being disruptive, without demonizing him. See w:WP:DFTT for some good reading on this. That said, it might be something to look at as not a formality, should he ever want to come back. I am personally against such strong measures except for very special cases, and I don't think that complaining about an enwiki ban is a special enough case to warrant such an action. Ajraddatz (talk) 21:14, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have much to add to this. Thank you. --Vogone (talk) 21:21, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No renaming between November 20 and November 27[edit]

Hi,

You’re getting this because you’re a steward or global renamer. The Community Tech team are working on cross-wiki watchlists. We need to add a couple of fields to the localuser table in centralauth database. In order to be able to do this, we’d need to run a script that will get in the way of renaming users. Our apologies – we realize this is getting in the way of your work.

We ask that you do not rename anyone between 00:00 November 20 (UTC) and 00:00 November 27 (UTC).

(UTC means that if you live in the Americas, it will be on the evening or afternoon of November 19 when the script starts running, and if you live in Oceania or eastern Asia, it can be closer midday on November 27 before we can be sure the script is no longer running.)

Phabricator task.

If there are any problems related to this, or you have any questions, please write me on my talk page. /Johan (WMF) (talk) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:42, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chronological order and indenting[edit]

Billinghurst wrote a post. Then he added some more info to it, so it is still his basic request on stewards. Then I replied on him -> one indentation. Then MF-W fixed the issue, which is reply on Billinghurst's original post -> one indentation.

MF-W fixed the issue (and replied) after my note about what is the cause, so his reply can't obviously be before mine, since we both reply on Billinghurst original post.

Thus Special:Permalink/16144725 is correctly indented and in the proper chronological order, while your version is neither of it.

Please do not scramble posts the way they do not reflect their chronological order and who replies on what.

Thank you.

Danny B. 00:43, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to add another ":" to your own comment and move it above MF-W's if it's Billinghurst's second comment you have replied to. If you replied to the initial one, then it belongs to where it is at the moment. I suppose we can trust Billinghurst to determine if he considers his own comment to be an addition or a reply to his own comment. Apparently he chose the latter option. --Vogone (talk) 00:46, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know that If you want it back, feel free to make a local announcement and open a new request on stewards' permission request page on Meta-Wiki later. Moreover, if you think the community is big enough to elect a permanent administrator, you can place a local request here for a permanent adminship, so stewards can grant you the permanent access. Please ask me or any other steward if you have any questions. Thank you! --einsbor talk 08:14, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
