Global rollback for DannyS712
- Global user: DannyS712 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
Hi all. I'd like to request global rollback to better help with combating vandalism and long term abuse across multiple projects. I
- Am a sysop on mediawiki and english wikiversity
- Hold rollback rights on multiple other projects where they are available to non-admins, and make use of the rights
- Am a part of the small wiki monitoring team, and use SWViewer to help patrol, among other things
- Have read and understand the policy governing global rollback
- Know to be cautious when I don't know a language, and if in doubt leave edits for someone else to examine
Please let me know if you have any questions for me. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 06:50, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

Global rename for Ritchie333
- Wiki: meta.wikimedia.org (list 'crats • bot policy • summary • 'crats rights)
- User: Ritchie333 (talk • edits • logs • UserRights • activity • CentralAuth • email • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 29 January 2020 18:14 UTC
I am a longstanding (if sometimes controversial) admin on the English Wikipedia, and sometimes deal with unblock requests for username changes. I have recently advised somebody to contact a global renamer as part of the procedure to unblock them, and having seen a protege of mine acquire global renamer rights here, it seems like a reasonable idea to request them myself. I have 2FA enabled. Ritchie333 (talk) 18:14, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
- Neutral Not convinced - are there a lack of global renamers on the English Wikipedia? Not sure from your request that we need another member. Leaderboard (talk) 21:57, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
- Enwiki represents ~30% of the users, edits, etc from across the Wikimedia network. Their practice of a) having a relatively restrictive username policy and b) requiring users to change their name as a condition of unblocking means that there is always work for renamers there, particularly admins who are actively involved in answering unblock requests. – Ajraddatz (talk) 23:25, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support trusted user, fair rationale. – Ajraddatz (talk) 23:25, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support Compelled by the username policy for enwp, which I am quite unhappy with (frankly their rationale is what almost every enwp sysop gave when they came here to ask for this right). Per my previous supports, one more enwp sysop given the right and uses them is one less work for renamers who homewiki isn't enwiki. This seems valid and fair. I will think we might as well bundle Global rename with enwp +sysop as there are almost certainly these arguments raised per Ajraddatz which justify and make there a consensus to grant the request despite arguments like Leaderboard ones which are valid. Hope Ritchie333 will take it slow and take advice from more experienced renamers when in doubt. Just a sidenote, I also don't know why a username NotButtigieg can be seen as famous / impersonation of Pete Buttigieg, it's not. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 07:04, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support per Ajraddatz--MrJaroslavik (talk) 10:23, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support Ritchie is a trusted user with justifiable use case for this permission. Although they likely won't use it often, I don't think we should pretend there is a limited number of global renamer spots; I am happy to support most experienced enwiki admins for this right in relation to their use as part of unblock requests due to the enwiki username policy. ~riley (talk) 17:25, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

Additionally, Ritchie333's unmatched dedication to content work amongst the current admin corps on en.wiki means he will bring a much needed perspective to meta and mailing list discussions of someone who is actually on the ground doing the work that all of us--regardless of the language group-- are here to support. Hello, I'm an editor and sysop in ar.wiki (my home wiki), I was a global rename in May 2018, but I was inactive for almost 2 months then I decided to remove my global rename, and I will be back when I will be active, and now I'm active (as I graduated from the university). Anyway, we are on ar.wiki suffer from user names that violates our local username policy, in this time we have only 3 GR, and one of them is not active, and I think we need more GR to deal with the renaming accounts. so having the ability to perform these renames would enhance my ability to preform this work and help in it. I read Global rename policy, and Global renamers (I will focus essentially on requests on Arabic Wikipedia) so since I'm available on a daily basis, and there doesn't seem to be a reason that would prevent me from participating daily for the time being. Thank you.--Faisal talk 11:05, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I am admin, bureaucrat and oversight on ru-wikipedia. Had global renamer flag until 2016 when it was revoked due to prolonged period of inactivity. Since I have returned to normal level of activity and my colleagues feel that another renamer will be useful, I am requesting this flag again. I intend to use it only for rename requests submitted on ru–wikipedia. Thanks. --Levg (talk) 11:15, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for kiyoweap

When I enabled the upgraded Norton's "VPN protection" utility, I was reassigned an IP in a blocked range (which I emailed to "stewards"). I prefer to be able to edit without disabling. I have made regular contributions on en and ja wikipedia, enough to persuade wiki that I deserve the JSTOR access pass. --Kiyoweap (talk) 11:06, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for Peterwu2019
- Global user: Peterwu2019 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I'm in Mainland China, where most Wikis are blocked. I'm using VPN to use them. But I want to take part in them and try to edit. But the full blockade of all Wikis really bothers me. My IP address is hidden through the VPN, so I can't provide it in the unblock request. Because of the IP range block, I can't even write any words in my talk page, I even can't show my unblock request there, thus I can never contribute, though I'm also a victim. I hope to unblock, though it's neither your error nor my fault. If you can consider unblocking, it can be really great. If the unblock can cause problems, I'll also respect your decisions , thanks, --Peterwu2019 (talk) 07:30, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
