This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request

 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

I've been monitoring global edits via SWViewer for a few months, I think I deserve this permission to help me do better. I am the sysop in both zhwiki and mediawiki.org, this makes me have a good understanding about the tool so I will use it properly. Regards, --Hamish 11:59, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to apply for Global Sysop right to help Vietnamese Wikimedia projects that are currently suffering from massive vandalism, ([1], [2]) while most projects, with the exception of Wikipedia, are understaffed. I currently have the rollback rights for Vietnamese Wikipedia and Commons, IP block exempt for Vietnamese Wikivoyage. As for the sysop experience, I was temporarily sysop for Vietnamese Wikivoyage back in 2013 when I still used my former account TRMC (talk contribs count logs page moves block log CA email). Apart from Vietnamese, I can speak English, German, French and Chinese so I may help projects in other languages if necessary.--A (talk) 05:14, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There are only three projects in question, and you have very few edits on them. Why not apply for local administrator userrights? Vermont (talk) 05:39, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Our Vietnamese community has had to do a lot lately when it comes to sockpuppets and vandalism. Most recently, a sockpuppeteers with almost 50 sockpuppets caused major problems in the Vietnamese Wikipedia. What is more dangerous is that vandalism from vi.wikipedia has shifted to other, smaller projects since they don't have the personal to protect themselves from those attacks. Since not only one project is affected, I think that GS right would a more effective counteraction against vandalism. I haven't made many edits to other Vietnamese projects since I changed my username, but I think with my experience at Commons and Wikipedia, I could do my best to help the GS team.--A (talk) 06:20, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why not start with global rollback instead? Leaderboard (talk) 07:32, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Rollback is a great tool and I've had a lot of experience with it, but it doesn't help much if those users are still able to revert all of my reverts as I can't block them. That why GS flag will help me a lot in preventing cross wikis vandalism.--A (talk) 07:50, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral Neutral, per WikiBayer above. Please go for local adminship first, then global rollback to global sysop. 114.129.199.90 09:32, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, after thinking for a while, I cancel this request and will try to request for local permission, firstly to gain experience and secondly to build trust.--A (talk) 11:59, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm an bn-wikibooks Admin and also contribute in others wiki project. There have no rename user, As a result, if someone wants to change the username, it is not possible to do so at the local level. I have been a trusted administrator on Wikibooks for 4th term as an administrator and interface administrator. I also try to contribute to other language projects including Wikipedia, Commons.-Shahadat Hossain (talk) 16:45, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Could you give an example of a user wanting their account renamed on bnwikibooks? Vermont (talk) 04:14, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Vermont Since Wikibooks does not have a renamer, users are encouraged to apply to Meta. Wikibooks has stopped accepting renaming applications on its project page. Please check bn wikibooks project page. If I get this right, it is possible to apply for name change in that project. I am also active in other projects, I can work on all those projects, such as Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, Commons and others. You can trust me as a loyal user. I also previously worked as an OTRS member. In addition, I was honored as the Asian Ambassador in 2019 in the Bengali Wikipedia project, see here.-Shahadat Hossain (talk) 06:01, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for JohnsonLee01

Hi, I'm an vi-wikivoyage Administrators, Interface administrators and also contribute in others wiki project. There have no rename user. As a result, if someone wants to change the username (here), it is not possible to do so at the local level. The community trusted me to take over the adminship. I also try to contribute to other language projects including Wikipedia, Wikisource, Wikibooks, Wikiquote, Wiktionary, Wikispecies, Wikidata and Commons. – Le Duc Anh (💬|📝) 06:26, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Support I am agree with JohnsonLee01 Xuanthucit (talk) 07:04, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Support JohnsonLee01 is a very active user on viwiki, has extensive experience at anti-vandalism job and wikipedia's funtionalities, I believe he's reliable for renaming permisson. MeigyokuThmn (talk) 07:10, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose No experience in the area, plus temporary admin rights. Additionally history of this page raises some doubts, account came to wikivoyage for rename and create a local rename page while Vietnamese wiki already have username change venue. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 11:32, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    @1997kB: If in doubt me, you can check Phạm Gia Triết's account and my account? – Le Duc Anh (💬|📝) 12:10, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    @1997kB: Base on what you said, your supposition is not so unfounded. However, I can confirm that the User PTrietVN.HCMC, who requested to be renamed, has nothing to do with JohnsonLee01. I still don't know why PTrietVN.HCMC chose Wikivoyage instead of Wikipedia. As far as I know, efforts are currently being made to draw more attention to other smaller projects like Wikivoyage and I think that this is a good sign, not only for vi.Wikivoyage but for the whole Vietnamese community.--故人 talk 12:33, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    @A: The reason I highlighted this is because user requesting renamer right provided that request as an example that there is need. Even if I ignore that, which I did, user applied for renamer a day after the first request on project, too fast.. isn't it? Also there's already a renamer handling those requests, and I'd also love to have another native Vietnamese renamer but as I said this is just too fast. IMHO they should spend time on Vietnamese Wikipedia venue to know how process works and try later. Also normally because of less requests small wiki's like vi.voyage tends to defer requests to Global queue, because these wiki's normally have temporary admins and once they gets inactive, nobody will be there to manage such pages. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 13:35, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose strong oppose I'm sorry but a 40 day old account simply doesn't have the experience and established track record for me to support such a hefty global permission or any global permission. This request also demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding that it's a local right and not a global one. Praxidicae (talk) 13:07, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to add that I'm genuinely concerned at how quickly you've amassed major rights, including interface admin on a project you've been registered for only 37 days and only substantially editing four literally four days. Praxidicae (talk) 13:14, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The user has asked to withdraw his request.--故人 talk 14:45, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
